Chapter 87
The idea bumped out in Luke’s mind. They all relied on Ethan.
No one would disobey Ethan’s wish, including Alice.
She was most afraid of Ethan.
She wouldn’t dare to go against Ethan’s will.
Noah felt a stomach cramp from anger. “What am I supposed to say to you? It only pushes Alice further away!”
Alice wasn’t just sulking.
“But what can I do? I haven’t found a suitable man to replace her. We’ll lose without her!”
Luke didn’t want to lose.
He finally realized that he had truly lost Alice.
“But you can’t force Alice! Is the competition more important than your sister? You’ll only lose her. Think about
it.”
Luke finally lowered his head and said reluctantly, “Can’t Alice understand me just this once? She knows how important this is to me. Yet she’s using it to threaten me.”
“I don’t care if we lose the competition. But if you ask Ethan to force her, you’ll lose her. Is the competition more important than your sister?”
Noah closed his eyes, unwilling to say more.
He would be irritated by Luke every time they talked.
He finally understood Alice’s feelings.
Luke stood still and felt confused. Then he left the ward.
He found Mike, asking, “Does Noah know where Alice stays?”
“Mr. Luke, why do you want to look for Ms. Alice?”
“To reconcile with her.”
Luke finally realized Alice was different. He just refused to admit it.
Mike thought for a while and told him the address.
He hoped that Luke would truly know his mistakes.
Luke went to the apartment buildings. He only knew a rough address without the exact unit number.
He waited for long. He didn’t text her until Alice finished her livestreaming.
But Luck found she’d blocked him.
Luke remembered Noah’s words. Was he truly so wrong?
He tried to friend her again.“Alice, I’m downstairs. Let’s talk. We’ve fought enough.”
Alice had just finished her livestreaming. She received a friend request from an unfamiliar account.
She checked the profile photo and the name. It was Luke.

The final competition was tomorrow. Luke was desperate.
She ignored it.
Amice walked out of the study and saw Jack making a call on the balcony. His profile was handsome and mysterious in the dim light.
She approached when holding a cup. She noticed Jack’s gentle look and caring tone.
She remembered Jack had been seeing someone.
Was he talking to his new girlfriend?
Alice felt downcast. She drank some lemon water. Her phone buzzed.
It was Luke’s friend request again.“If you don’t come down, I’ll keep waiting here. If paparazzi see you, your address will be exposed.”
Alice was annoyed.
She knew Luke often attracted paparazzi and made headlines.
She didn’t want her peaceful life disturbed.
She decided to go downstairs.
“Where are you going?”
:
Jack’s voice came from behind as Alice changed her shoes at the door.
She looked up. Jack had returned from the balcony. He looked so tall.
A sense of bitterness hit her when she noticed Jack’s gentle look.
She looked down sadly.“Luke’s downstairs. He wants to talk to me.”
“He asks you to come down, and you just listen to him?”
Jack frowned. “He’s begging you to compete in tomorrow’s final game.”
“I know that.”
“Then don’t need to go.”
you
His tone was domineering. It was almost like an order.
Alice somehow felt rebellious. She pursed her lips. “I’ll be back soon. You can continue working.”
She closed the apartment door.
Jack watched her leave, rubbing his temples.
Was she sulking?
Menu
He went to the balcony where he could see the building entrance. It was indeed Luke who stood beside the car.
Jack put one hand on the rail and gazed at the entrance.
Soon, Alice’s small figure appeared in his sight. She was walking slowly.
Jack watched for a while and returned inside.
Alice felt conflicted. Had she been too obvious?

She glanced back at the apartment. The balcony was empty.
Disappointed, she looked away.
She couldn’t focus on Jack. It didn’t work.
She adjusted her mood and walked to the entrance. She saw Luke leaning against his car.
She kept a straight face “What do you want to say? I’m short on time.*
Luke studied her face. She had indeed changed.
He said in a stiff tone, “I admit I was harsh and inconsiderate before. I made you sad by ignoring your feelings.”
Alice was surprised. “I never heard such a sincere apology from
you. Are you done?”
“I want to know what you think. I thought our arguments were minor and they wouldn’t affect other things.”
Alice tittered, “Luke, if you think a few apologies can erase everything and make me feel guilty, you can just give up.”
“That wasn’t my intention.”
“I know what you mean. You think you’ve apologized. You think I should prioritize the team and join the final competition.”
Her gaze was cold and distant.“I am telling you the truth. I won’t be competing.”
Luke panicked.“You always cared about the team’s wins and losses. You supported me in creating the team. We’re in the national finals for the first time. Are you really quitting?”
He didn’t believe Alice would give up.
She cared about the team so much before.
There was sarcasm in Alice’s eyes.“Stop pretending. If Chloe weren’t so bad at gaming, or if you’d found a suitable replacement, you wouldn’t be here begging me. Let’s be honest, shall we?”
Luke stammered, “That’s not true.”
“You only care about your interests and the result. You don’t care about anyone else.”
Alice saw through Luke.
She didn’t want to reveal his true color before.
But now she wanted to make everything clear.
Luke was close to collapsing. He yelled, “I care about more than winning! I care about you! The team isn’t what I imagined without you!”
Luke remembered that he created the team for his sister Alice.
He had forgotten his initial intention.
Now, it was too late. Alice was going to leave the team.
“Alice, give the team a chance.”
How about a chance for him?
