Chapter 86

It wasn’t until Roseanne returned to Caldwell that Rosalie finally learned the truth–thanks to an argument with Julian’s cousin, Josie. Josie blurted it out in the heat of the moment that Rosalie had only ever been a substitute.
Rosalie understood everything. No wonder Julian had been so reluctant to marry her at first, yet he changed his mind after just meeting her.
It turned out that changing his mind had nothing to do with her. He had only agreed because she looked like Roseanne.
Once again, Rosalie thought Anya had been right all along–Julian really was a shameless bastard.
He married her as a substitute but then felt guilty for his ex–girlfriend. Instead of treating her with love, he treated her like some kind of lucky charm, leaving her untouched like that somehow made him faithful to his real love.
Rosalie couldn’t help but sneer inwardly, ‘Wow, what a devoted man. He stayed pure for an entire year in honor of his ex, and now that she’s back, his self–imposed chastity has finally paid off
At this moment, Rosalie felt nothing but relief. She felt thankful for that text from Roseanne–it had saved her from getting tangled up with Julian further.
She assumed that he was probably rushing out to see his beloved right now.
Rosalie’s gaze drifted to the closed bathroom door, her expression unreadable as something in her eyes darkened.
She thought that since she signed the divorce papers, she had already let go of Julian. She had convinced herself that nothing he did would matter to her.
But Roseanne’s sudden reappearance and Julian’s fast leave brought a sharp and unexpected pain to Rosalie’s chest.
