Chapter 15
Listening to Emily, Seraphina’s blood surged with disbelief.
It was expected that Kaclan and Emily would marry, but what truly pained her was Kaelan’s decision to have Seraphinaana recognize Emily as her own mother, completely severing the bond between her and Seraphinaana!
For a mother, this was an agonizing cruelty.
“Kaelan also said that as long as I’m happy, our daughter can take the Williams surname and stay with
the Williams family. That way, it won’t affect our life together,” Emily added, dropping another bombshell on Seraphina.
Emily’s provocation crossed Seraphina’s bottom line. Consumed by anger, Seraphina stepped forward and grabbed Emily by the collar.
“If you dare to throw my daughter into your filthy Williams family, I’ll expose your crime to the prison
guards.”
Instead of showing fear, Emily laughed uncontrollably and proceeded to pat Seraphina’s face a few times, “Seraphina Season, you’re a fool. Let me make it clear that from now on, you are the sole culprit in the hit–and–run case, and I have nothing to do with it. Only your name will appear in all the files related
to the case, Where do you think you can expose me?”
Seraphina’s heart sank, and she clenched her teeth in hatred. “The Williams family is truly despicable. They will do anything to exonerate you. Do you have no regard for the law?”
“The law?” Emily snorted coldly, adding fuel to the fire.
“In New York City, Kaelan Winters is the law. It’s his words to save me and, of course, to destroy you. I initially planned to frame someone else, but Kaelan insisted on targeting you. Well, I had no choice. Now you know how much he despises you.”
Hearing the harsh reality from Emily’s own lips, Seraphina’s heart felt as if it had been stabbed with a knife. The sensation of suffocation surged up her throat, and uncontrollably, a mouthful of fresh blood was spewed out.
Kaelan Winters had betrayed her, stolen their child, and condemned her to hell. What an utterly
heartless man!
Emily pushed Seraphina away in disgust, covering her nose, and got into the car. Impatiently, she ordered the driver and bodyguards, “What are you waiting for? Take this crazy woman inside.”
Chapter 15
“Emily, karma will find you!” Seraphina said, her eyes burning with hatred.
“Take care of yourself first. Who knows if you’ll survive these four years?“, Emily retorted, leaving Seraphina with a cryptic remark before driving away.
In the rearview mirror, Seraphina’s fury burned brightly in her eyes. She smiled with contentment, a fierce malice unmistakably flashing in her eyes.
Immediately, she made a call.
“Make sure Seraphina Season is taken much care of inside and let her know that it’s what Kaelan Winters
intended.”
FOUR YEARS LATER
One day in February, at eight in the morning, the prison doors slowly opened, and a slender woman walked out. The cold wind tousled her short, dry hair, revealing a worn–out face and vacant, numb eyes.
“Seraphina Season, be a good person once you’re out,” the prison guard advised.
Seraphina nodded, bowing to the guard before accepting a bag containing her documents, wallet, and phone. Before she could utter a word of gratitude, the prison doors slammed shut, the resounding bang
echoing the one from four years ago.
Lost in a daze, memories of the past flooded Seraphina’s mind. The numerous scars on her body silently reminded her of the inhumane torture she had endured during the past four years.
She gingerly touched her injured right leg, blaming Kaelan Winters for everything. Even though she was in prison, he hadn’t let her go.
Seraphina was filled with hatred and pain and thus she promised herself, “Emily Williams, Kaelan Winters, I will find a lawyer to overturn my case, and will take my baby Seraphinaana from you both…”
In the blink of an eye, nightfall arrived.
Unable to reach her family and with the bus service suspended, Seraphina walked the entire day from the prison to the city. She was hungry and cold, her legs ached and grew numb, and she could barely
stand.
Dizzy–headed, the traffic lights at the intersection blurred before her eyes. Finally, with a thud, she collapsed at the side of the road.
In the next moment, the screeching sound of tires abruptly halted, slicing through the night sky.
A Rolls–Royce came to an abrupt stop, startling the man in the back seat.
“What’s going on?” Kaelan Winters frowned, his deep and cold voice filled with displeasure.
“St, I guess I almost
ran the red light.”
Kaelan’s eyel

“Yes, Sir“, Driver nodded and got out of the car without wasting any further moments.
And as he stepped out of the car to assess the situation, he recognized that the woman lying on the ground was none other than Seraphina Season. In shock, he rushed back to car and stammered out his
words.
“Sir, the person who collapsed in front of the car…is Miss Season.”
Kaelan’s sharp black eyes snapped to attention. “Who are you talking about?”
The driver broke out in a cold sweat, “Your ex–wife, Seraphina Season.”
Kaelan Winters stepped out of the car. His intense gaze blended with the night, and an icy aura emanated from his being
Seraphina Season…
So it was the day of her release from prison.
As he saw her lying on the ground, gasping for breath, her body thin and bony, his deep eyes surged with emotion, revealing a mystery within that couldn’t be deciphered.
The driver, standing behind him, glanced around nervously before mustering the courage to respectfully remind him, “Sir, there’s heavy traffic at the intersection, It’s not advisable to stay here for long.”
Kaelan Winters retracted his gaze and commanded indifferently, “Just drive.”
The driver hesitated, feeling conflicted. Was Kaelan Winters really that callous? After all, she was his ex–wife Shouldn’t he have taken her to the hospital?
But he didn’t had guts to express his thoughts before his master and hence he followed the orders of Kaelan. Rolls–Royce sped through the darkness, the temperature inside the car dropping suddenly,
Meanwhile, the Raclan at the back seat exuded a chilling aura that grew more palpable by the moment along with the atmosphere becoming increasingly stifling.
Suddenly, a ringing sound shattered the heavy silence. When Kaelan saw the caller’s number, he gradually suppressed his anger.
Chapter 15
The driver stole a glance at the rearview mirror.
Only one person had the power to transform Kaclan Winters’s expression into one of pure delight–the little princess of the Winters family, Seraphinaana.
“Sweetheart, why don’t you sleep so late?”
“Daddy hasn’t telling me bedtime story. I can’t sleep.“, Seraphinaana answered innocently.
Kaelan’s heart was melting, “Let me owe you a story today, and tomorrow Daddy will tell you two.”
“Really? Don’t lie to me.” Seraphinaana hesitated.
“Daddy never lies to you.”
“Yay! Daddy is the best!“, Suddenly voice of Seraphinaana entered his ears.
Seraphinaana’s happy laughter resonated, her tender voice brimming with innocence like a ray of warm sunlight illuminating Kaelan’s heart.
After ending the call, Kaelan Winters received a selfie from his daughter accompanied by a voice message. “Daddy, Seraphinaana is going to bed now. Good night.”
Kaelan Winters smiled, a sense of relief washing over him. He replied in a voice unusually gentle, his deep tone oozing magnetism, “Good night, my sweetheart.”
Reluctantly, he stowed away his phone, his gentle gaze fixed on his daughter’s photo. His once–icy expression now bore a warmth that contrasted with his usual cold demeanor.
He didn’t know how long he stared at the photo, but suddenly, his eyes dimmed, and Seraphina Season’s
shadow seemed to overlay the image.
A surge of memories flooded Kaelan’s mind, the sight of her lying on the side of the road. Thinking of his daughter’s longing for her mother, his heart was mercilessly gripped.
“Turn around.”
