Chapter 16
However, when the Rolls–Royce returned to the intersection, Seraphina Season was no longer there.
“Sir, Miss Season is gone,” the driver reported.
“Gone?“, Kaelan’s brow furrowed.
“Sir, could Miss Season have been kidnapped by someone?“, The driver looked around anxiously.
“What kind of person would dare to lay a finger on her?“, Kaelan responded with disdain in his tone.
“Not all bad people are just robbers, some specialize in organ trafficking or abductions…”
“Enough!” Kaelan Winters’s face turned dark, his eyes cold, and he felt a tinge of anxiety in his heart before his driver could speak anything further.
Listening to the tone of Kaelan, the driver realized that he had spoken out of turn and soon he met Kaelan’s piercing gaze because of which a cold sweat broke out along his spine.
“Young Master, my apologies. I was just speaking without thinking, Miss Season is fortunate. Someone must have taken her to the hospital“, The driver buried his vision to ground, unable to make eye contact
with Kaelan.
While Kaelan’s hostility had not yet dissipated, and his tone remained unpleasant. “Today’s incident didn’t happen, Did you got my point.”
“Understood“, The driver responded trying to ease his tension.
Irritated, Kaelan closed his eyes, his breathing growing heavier due to the inexplicable anger.

Whereas on the other hand Seraphina was taken to the hospital by kind passersby and when she regained consciousness, it was already dawn and the scent of disinfectant lingered in her nose as she struggled to open her eyes. Just then, a nurse entered the room.
“You’re awake,” the nurse said.
Seraphina was helped into a sitting position by nurse and thus she started looking around.
“Why am I in the hospital?“, she asked out of curiosity and confusion in her tone.
The nurse explained, “You fainted on the side of the road last night. It was a considerate person Mr

Scordia, who brought you to the hospital and he not only covered the medical expenses but also bought you clothes and shoes.”
Seraphina felt deeply moved and grateful. Her heart, which had been bitter and cold for four years, suddenly warmed.
“What’s his full name?, Did she leave any contact information?“, Seraphina asked.
“She didn’t disclose that information,” the nurse replied helplessly.
Seraphina felt a tinge of disappointment but was more grateful. Her intention was to personally thank Mrs Scordia and return the money.
“Please let me know if you have any news about her. I would like to express my gratitude in person and repay her.”
“Of course,” The nurse agreed.
Later that day, after completing the discharge procedures, Seraphina left the hospital. She had initially
planned to visit the Winters family and see Seraphinaana but was concerned that her appearance might frighten the child.
Thus Seraphina boarded a bus, her gaze fixed on the familiar streets. Mixed emotions welled up, causing
her eyes to turn red.
She hadn’t returned in four years. She wondered if her family had improved or if her mother’s illness had improved. She had worried about them day and night in prison, never forgetting a single moment.
Seraphina couldn’t help but quicken her pace with the past memories flashing before her eyes which
forced her to think that her dad’s company which was Harrison Enterprises
And also the fact that before the Harrison Enterprises went bankrupt, they were somewhat famous in New York City, although not on the same level as the prominent families like the Winters or Williams. They used to live in a three–story townhouse.
Fortunately, the house was still there. Seraphina Season stood in front of the wrought–iron gate, unable
to contain her excitement, and rang the doorbell.
A middle–aged maid opened the door and curiously asked, “Whom are you looking for?”
“I…“, Seraphina glanced around, certain that she hadn’t made a mistake.
“George Season is my father, and Amelia Evans is my mother and this is my home.”
“Are you Season’s daughter?“,The maid asked skeptically.

“Yes,” Seraphina confirmed.
The maid scrutinized Seraphina Season, her eyebrows slightly furrowed, expressing doubt.
Seraphina quickly reacted and took out her ID card to prove she wasn’t lying.
As the maid examined the ID card, her eyebrows gradually relaxed, but still not fully confirmed she responded
“Season Family no longer lives here. Two years ago, your father sold the house to our young master.”
Hearing this, Seraphina Season’s heart tightened with the striking thought in her mind
“Did Dad sell the house to pay off his debts?”
But back then, Kaelan Winters had promised her that if she confessed crimes for Emily, he would repay the debt owed by the Season family. If that was the case, why would he still sell the house? Had Kaelan
lied to her?
“Are you okay?” the maid’s concerned voice interrupted Seraphina’s thoughts. She slowly came back to her senses and looked at the townhouse before her with complex emotions.
The house had been sold. This was no longer her home. Her parents had vanished without a trace, and
she didn’t know where they had gone.
Seraphina Season tightly gripped the canvas bag in her hands, fighting back tears of sadness. She shook her head and decided not to say anything.
AFTER A WHILE
Seraphina was homeless, walking aimlessly on the streets. The cold wind cut through her face like a knife, bringing a piercing, painful sensation. As dusk approached, Seraphina passed by a private club, where a job advertisement caught her attention.
“No matter what, I need to survive,” she thought to herself.
The club’s personnel manager immediately noticed Seraphina Season’s beauty upon seeing her. With a bit of dressing up, she could easily serve in the private rooms rather than working as a cleaner.
“The cleaner’s salary is $1,000 per month. But if you work in the private rooms, accompanying guests for drinks, you can earn a few thousand dollars in just one night. Think it over,” the manager suggested.
Seraphina understood the manager’s intentions, but she had her own principles and boundaries.
“I don’t know how to drink, and I’m not skilled at socializing. I wouldn’t be able to provide satisfactory company in the private rooms. Being a cleaner suits me better,” she firmly replied.

The manager, frustrated, wished she could turn iron into steel. “You’ll regret it when you miss out on the money that comes knocking at your door.”
“I won’t regret it,” Seraphina affirmed.
Seeing her unwavering determination, the manager had no choice but to give up.
“Stubborn! Someone, take her to the logistics department.”
“Thank you, manager“, She answered with a calmness in her tone.
And soon she got into the attire of the cleaner starting her duties right away without any further delays.
Meanwhile, in one of the upscale private rooms of the club, young men and women sat together, laughing and enjoying themselves. The room was filled with a heavy mixture of tobacco, alcohol, and perfume scents.
In the midst of the revelry, someone’s drunkenness led to them vomiting on the floor.
Seraphina pushed open the door, enduring the overpowering smell and the deafening noise as she made. her way to the sofa.
“Why are you here? Quickly clean the floor and tidy up the table,” one of the guests instructed.
“Okay.” Seraphina bent down and began cleaning. Her eyes remained calm and composed.
“Look at this girl’s slim waist. It looks like it could snap if you touch it,” a man’s vulgar voice came from
behind her.
Laughter and jeers followed, with someone saying, “Would it really snap? You’ll only know if you try it
yourself.”
“That’s a good point,” the man responded, his gaze becoming increasingly lascivious.
Seraphina swiftly cleaned the floor, tidied up the table, and replaced all the wine glasses.
Just as she turned around, ready to leave, her waist was suddenly grabbed by a greasy fat man.
“Damn, this girl is so beautiful, innocent yet seductive,” he remarked.
With a panicked expression, Seraphina pushed him away and stepped back in fear. “Sir, please respect yourself.”
“Respect myself?” the man chuckled, as if he had heard a hilarious joke. He then pulled out a thick stack of bills from his wallet and slammed it on the table.

“I like you, and if you obediently stay with me for a night, all this money will be yours.”
As he finished speaking, the private room erupted with whistles and cheers.
Seraphina forced herself to stay calm, keeping a low profile.
“I’m just a cleaner. I won’t do this thing. I implore you, sir, to let go and release me,” she pleaded.
The man’s greedy and cruel eyes roamed over Seraphina Season’s body. He was accustomed to being with heavily made–up women and desired something different.
The atmosphere turned increasingly dangerous and repugnant, and Seraphina felt her nerves tightening
soon after which she turned around and decided to leave the room
However, the moment she opened the door, her hair was firmly grabbed by the man’s hand.
“Trying to escape? It won’t be that easy.‘
Realizing what would happen next, Seraphina heart sank.
“Ah!” the man screamed in pain as blood gushed from his forehead. Instinctively, he raised his hand to cover the wound as without taking any moment further, Seraphina ended up hitting the man with the wiper which she was carrying with her.
Seizing the opportunity, Seraphina fled from the private room.
Enraged, the man’s face contorted with a fierce and wild expression. “You filthy bitch, I’m going to kill you today!”
His footsteps echoed behind her as she desperately cried out for help.
“Help…“, Seraphina screamed while running out of the private room in search of protection
But the corridor was empty, devoid of anyone who cared about her safety. She didn’t dare to barge into other private rooms, so she kept running forward.
As she reached a corner, she collided with someone, and a cold, elegant breath filled her nostrils.
The scent felt so familiar!
