“Why would you DO this?”
“I spelled it all out for you–after today, Sylvia would be OUT of the Lancelot family. What possessed you to tip her off?”
“Now she’s vanished. How the hell is this wedding supposed to happen?”
Jocelyn never expected this sudden interrogation. Panic flashed in her eyes before she turned on the
waterworks.
“Lorian, you’re hurting me…”
“How could you think I’d do that? When would I even have talked to Sylvia alone? I’ve been glued to your side this whole time. I know what this plan means to you–I’d never sabotage my own wedding day!”
“Did Sylvia feed you some story? That homewrecker’s daughter couldn’t say anything good if she tried! She’d love to tear us apart so she could keep you all to herself!”
Jocelyn had said similar things countless times before.
“How could a whore’s daughter have decent intentions? She’s obviously after the Lancelot
fortune–waiting for you to fall for her so she can grab your inheritance!”
“Nothing good comes from a homewrecker. All those gifts? Just bait for bigger prizes. She’s not just targeting you–she and her scheming mother want the entire Lancelot company!”
“Lorian, be careful. Don’t fall for her innocent act. That whole ‘caught in the rain and got sick‘ drama? Pure manipulation for your sympathy!”
In the past, Lorian had swallowed every word Jocelyn said.
Especially since his father retired and handed him the company right after Sylvia’s mother arrived.
He had never questioned Jocelyn’s version of events. He had always seen Sylvia as a threat to his
inheritance.
But now that Sylvia was gone, he couldn’t match these accusations with the gentle sister he knew.
During their six years together, Sylvia had been laser–focused on her studies.
Even when his work laptop sat open in front of her, she never once peeked at it.

In their daily interactions, she actively avoided discussing Lancelot family matters.
How could such a person be the calculating gold–digger Jocelyn described?
After a long pause, he took a deep breath.
Seeing Lorian’s lack of response, Jocelyn grew desperate.
“Lorian, what’s wrong with you? Did Sylvia actually get to you? You can’t possibly believe her. Don’t forget your plan–today is the final step!”
“You swore you’d avenge your mother!”
“I’m going to play the video now. The guests are all here. Sylvia’s mother looks totally distracted–perfect timing to destroy that home–wrecking bitch! She’ll never see it coming!”
As Jocelyn turned to leave, Lorian grabbed her arm.
“We’re not playing the video. Sylvia isn’t here. There’s no point.”
“It’s over.”
He couldn’t explain his own emotional reaction.
The news of Sylvia’s accident felt like someone had dropped a house on his chest. He could barely breathe.
Everything he’d meticulously planned for six years suddenly seemed completely meaningless.
Frustration blazed in Jocelyn’s eyes. She tried another angle, trashing Sylvia with every other word.
His patience snapped. Lorian’s expression turned glacial.
“Enough! Sylvia isn’t what you’re making her out to be!”
“Jocelyn, last warning–this is Lancelot family business. It’s not your place to decide how we handle it!”
This was his first show of real coldness toward Jocelyn.
Without waiting for her response, he walked away to find Sylvia’s mother.
She stood alone, staring numbly at the news on her phone.
Lorian softened his voice.
“Auntie, has Sylvia shown up yet? Has she answered your messages?”

“Lorian… there’s something you need to know.”
“Sylvia won’t be coming today. She submitted her study abroad application three days ago. This morning’s flight… I’ve been watching the news… that plane just crashed…”
Her words dissolved into heartbroken sobs. Lorian’s mind reeled. He flashed back to seeing Sylvia at the
visa office.
So that’s when she’d already planned her escape.
The brutal truth lay before him. Yet Lorian refused to accept it.
Only one thought consumed his mind:
No, Sylvia couldn’t just leave like this.
His plan wasn’t finished. His revenge against her hadn’t even started.
He wouldn’t allow it. He wouldn’t let Sylvia simply disappear!
