Chapter 169

Alice didn’t think she was that famous.
Jack’s eyelids twitched. He grabbed John and said to Alice, “He publicly challenged Luke and tried to persuade you to join his team before.”
“You reminded me of that. They had a big online fight, right?”
Alice looked at Jack.“What did he call you? Are you related?”
“Yes, we’re… Oh!”
John’s words were cut short by a sharp pinch from Jack. As a sharp pain hit him, he winced and turned to Jack.“What are you doing?”
He’d attempted to make a good impression on his future sister–in–law.
He didn’t understand why Jack suddenly pinched him.
Alice pointed at him and Jack, saying, “You must be related. You have the same last name.”
It was then that something occurred to Alice. John and Jack seemed to be related.
But wasn’t John from the Wilson family, a prestigious family in Washington?
Alice looked intently at Jack and asked, “Why haven’t you mentioned your connection to the Wilson family?”
Jack explained, slightly flustered, “We just have the same last name.”
“Yes, they are distant relatives. John is a friend of mine. We knew each other in games, and then he became close to Jack as well.”
Andrew arrived and put an arm around John, hinting at him frantically.
John was at first puzzled. Then, he realized that Alice probably didn’t know Jack’s identity and said, “That’s right. I’m close to both of them!”
Alice looked at the three men in front of her and said nothing.
All three held their breath nervously.
Alice nodded. “I’m surprised how close you guys are in real life. You never mentioned it.”
“We’ve talked about it. The account Jack uses is mine.”
Alice recalled that there seemed to be such a thing. At the time, she thought Jack’s account had been hacked.
The person claimed to be Jack’s younger brother as well.
It had been a while. Her memory was fuzzy.
Alice realized that the person probably was John and turned to look at John.“Is that account really yours?”
“Sure! Indeed!”
Alice’s mood suddenly fluctuated. So, the person in her previous life was John?
Not Jack?
John felt a little strange.“What’s the matter? I only logged in once. Jack used the account after that.” “Nothing.”
Alice lowered her head.“Sorry, I need to go to the restroom.”

She hurried to the restroom, replaying her encounters with that person in her previous life in her mind.
She had always assumed that it was Jack, for their mannerisms and speech were alike.
She had never actually seen the person in her previous life, but she imagined that he resembled Jack.
To her surprise, the account belonged to John.
Who would have been using that account if she had not met Jack?
Alice didn’t dare to think further.
Outside.
John stood alone under a pillar and raised his hands as if he knew he had made a mistake.
He cautiously looked at Jack.“Jack…”
Jack raised an eyebrow.“Shut up!”
“Jack, I had no idea that she didn’t know about your identity! I’m innocent!”
Andrew explained, “Luckily, I came just in time. Alice didn’t
anything.”
“Jack, did you and Alice suffer a car accident? I saw a scar on her forehead.”
Jack pointed at John and gave him a warning look.
John covered his mouth. “I won’t say anything! I’ve always been tight–lipped!”
“Tight–lipped? You have never succeeded in keeping my secrets since we were kids!”
At the sight of John, Jack was on the point of losing his temper. He
Andrew nodded.“Don’t worry. I’ll handle it.”

To look at Andrew.“Don’t spill the beans.”
John peeked out.“Jack, are you scared? Be confident! How about I talk to her…”
Jack could hardly control his temper.
Andrew pulled John and said, “You’d better leave. Don’t stay here.”
What a naughty guy! Andrew feared that he would cause trouble.
“I haven’t said goodbye to Alice yet! I want to make a good impression!”
Jack gave him a kick.“Get lost!”
“You failed to kick me! Someone is angry!”
John covered his butt, made a face, and ran away.
Jack covered his forehead.

Andrew patted Jack’s shoulder and asked, “Why’s John back? I see. The final will be held at the city stadium this
weekend.”
That explained John’s sudden return.
Soon, Alice came out of the restroom.
She looked at Andrew and Jack, who stood outside, “Where’s John?”
Jack’s eyes twitched when hearing her mention John. He replied, “He has dinner with friends.”
“I see. I did not expect you to know a great player like John. Why didn’t you say anything when he used your account?”
Alice’s questions were like torture to Jack.

He pretended to be calm. “Is he that excellent? I don’t think so.”
Jack sounded arrogant.
John was a promising national team contender, highly talented, from a wealthy family, and free from pressure and unfair treatment.
Alice looked into Jack’s deep eyes. “You’re pretty good at games too.”
Andrew quickly changed the topic. “Alice, there’s an AI exchange event tomorrow afternoon. Our company is also invited to attend. How would you like to go together? I just got the notice.”
“Sure, I’ll be there.”
Jack said, “I’ll drive you back.”
“No need. I called a taxi. It should be here soon. See you tomorrow!”
Jack stood his ground and watched Alice get in the
car and leave.
Andrew clicked his tongue and asked, “Alice’s suspicious, isn’t she?”
Jack stared at the disappearing taxi. With his face half–hidden in shadow, no one could see his expression clearly.
Back in the dorm, Alice lay in bed thinking about John’s account.
She felt extremely confused.

It was common for many people to share the same name in the game. Perhaps the account was not even the one she knew in her previous life. She just mistakenly thought it was.
Alice had hardly slept all night..
The next day, she took her laptop to the place Andrew had mentioned. After all, she served as the technical leader of -artificial intelligence.
She arrived early, and the conference room was almost empty.
She took a seat and opened her laptop. She was thinking about the account last night and failed to get all the materials ready.
“Alice, why are you here alone? Where are those from the Maple Company?”
Alice looked up and saw Chloe. She replied with a calm expression, “They haven’t arrived yet. Did you bring what I
asked for?”
Chloe whispered, “I’m working on it. I came here today to join the project so I can get the data you need.”
“You need to hurry. If I don’t get the data before the bidding, I may share the video with others.”
Chloe’s face turned gloomy. Just then, Luke walked to them.
Chloe nervously changed the topic. “The final will be held at the stadium this weekend. Alice, are you coming? Luke
has tickets!”
Alice saw Luke walking over as well, so she cooperated with Chloe to shift the topic.
“Of course, but I have a ticket for the VIP seat from the leader of Blitzkrieg Team.”
“Are you really planning to join Blitzkrieg Team?”
Luke’s face darkened at the mention of his rival team.
“It’s none of your business!”
Seeing the arrival of those from the Maple Company, Alice stood up and left the conference room.

Luke had no choice but to follow her.“Alice, let’s have a talk!”
As Chloe was about to leave, she saw Alice’s laptop left on the table with the screen still lit.
She paused, her eyes fixed on Alice’s laptop.
Without hesitation, she sat down in Alice’s seat.
She pulled out her phone and took pictures of Alice’s file.
“What are you doing?”
Chloe’s face turned pale as she looked up and saw Luke…
