When I realized I no longer loved Edwin, I let go of all my resentment.

For the first time, Tiara was pleading with me.

Hearing that, he eased his tense expression. He dropped the knife and pulled me into his arms.
Like a child, he buried his face in my shoulder and whined, “Jaliyah, I am hurt. Can you bandage me up?”
The next second, a man yanked him away from me.
“I am a doctor too. I can take care of that.”
Vicente stepped in front of me, his face cold.
Seeing a stranger standing protectively in front of me, Edwin lunged at him, fists flying.
But he was already drained. Within moments, Vicente had him pinned against the table.
“Dr. Leach, Jaliyah has already broken up with you.
“Have you never heard that love that comes too late is worthless?
“You have Ms. Rangel now. Just let it go before things get any uglier.”
Edwin licked the blood at the corner of his mouth, completely ignoring Tiara.
“Tiara is nothing but a plaything to me. I just wanted her to see that the man she once tossed aside now has another woman treating him like a king.”
So that was the real reason Edwin had stayed with me for seven years.
