Chapter 10
I can’t remember when he left.
That evening, Terrance’s good friend, Luke Bright, who was also a friend of mine many years ago,
pushed open the door and barged in.
“Elliana, what did you promise me?”
He bombarded me with questions, leaving me confused.
“Do you know how much Terrance would lose if he called off the engagement?”
“You’ve already grown up. Could you please not act as reckless and capricious as you used to be, relying on Terrance for everything? Can you please think how he feels?”
“What happened?”
“What’s wrong?” Luke laughed angrily, roaring at me, “Terrance wants to call off the wedding because of you! And you’re asking me what’s wrong?”
My ears were buzzing, and I sat there in a daze, my mind completely blank.
Where does he leave me when he openly calls off the wedding?
A home wrecker, you mean?
Luke forcefully dragged me off the bed, “Come with me, weren’t you good at it back then? Tired of playing, found someone new, so many excuses, just pick one!”
“Luke–”
“Elliana!” Luke trembled with anger, “If you don’t come back, will these things still happen?”
The roar echoed in the wind and snow, the north wind howled, freezing all my senses.
My ears were buzzing, and I couldn’t hear anything.
His gaze was filled with an unprecedented hatred.
It seems that someone like me should just die.
“Luke, he wouldn’t let me go.”
Luke’s face turned cold and he said, “Once this is done, I will see you
off.”
The office building was brightly lit late at night.

Luke pulled me in, but unfortunately, the press conference had already started.
Terrance sat calmly under the spotlight.
“I heard that the reason you called off the wedding was because of the other woman.”
Facing the questions from the reporters, he handled them with ease.
Ms. Bright and I had some differences and we peacefully parted ways.
Luke’s face turned pale, and he tightly gripped my wrist, forbidding me from wandering around.
“…However, according to insiders, you and your first love rekindled your old flame.”
Terrance remained calm and composed, “It’s all hearsay. If there are no other issues, today’s press
conference ends here.”
As soon as he got up, someone suddenly shouted.
“She came!”
“It was her!”
All the cameras in the venue instantly focused on this side.
I was exposed to the spotlight, looking disheveled and bewildered.
Reporters swarmed in, within a few seconds, surrounding the area and leaving no room to move.
A series of questions followed one after another, “May I ask what is your relationship with
Terrance?”
“Did you really interfere in someone else’s marriage?”
The shutter sounds one after another.
Terrance’s smile suddenly froze, and he stood up and pushed through the crowd towards me.
“No.”
“I didn’t.”
I argued weakly, but my voice was quickly drowned out by their strong curiosity, and the questions came one after another.
“There is new information!”

A journalist exclaimed with excitement, holding up a cell phone from which my voice came through
with a sobbing tone and a hazy drunkenness, like a murmur, “Terrance, I love you.”
It was a voice recorder.
I was filled with anxiety in my heart.
Once, I thought that nothing could make my life worse.
When the storm truly arrived, I was completely devastated.
“Isn’t she a mistress?”
“Shameless.”
The whispering of the crowd, like a slap in the face, hit me.
The color on my face faded instantly, and the recording nailed me tightly to the pillar of shame.
“Sorry.”
“Luke! Take her away!”
Terrance pushed through the crowd, a look of panic appearing on his face for the first time.
Everything in front of me turned white.
The man recited word by word, “My father had debts, my mother committed suicide, and I myself suffered from severe hereditary depression. I was locked up in Vertdeer Psychiatric Hospital for five years… Isn’t this mental illness?”
A stone caused a thousand waves to rise.
The crowd was in an uproar.
“Why did the mentally ill come out to harm people?”
“You were sick, right?”
“Why didn’t you just die?”
Terrance’s footsteps came to a halt, and he suddenly looked up and gazed at me.
Shocked.
Dumbfounded.

Unbelievable.
I sat helplessly in the noisy crowd, feeling my blood gradually cool down until my whole body
became cold.
“Elliana…”
Terrance called me, his voice trembling.
I knew what was coming next.
Just calmly, waiting for the gate knife to fall, completely ruining my life.
She had also been violated by someone.
This was the last sentence of the anonymous tip.
The moment he heard it, Terrance’s face turned as pale as paper.
