Chapter 0010
Evan’s POV
Evan watches people walk by from Inside the black car. Heghs to himself and looks at his hands in his lap. He looks around the car, finding himself bored once again, and floats his gaze back outside the car.
From a distance, Evan spots a familiar–looking woman. His posture straightens in his seat, and he pushes himself against the clear window.
It’s the pretty lady from before! Evan’s heart leaps, and a simile creeps onto his face. He sighs, and his hand reaches for the handle, wanting to desperately jump out of the car and run towards her.
Her presence is comforting to him. He can’t figure it out, but he feels as if he’s supposed to be near her. He’s drawn to her soothing presence. He tugs on the door handle but stops when he notices a little boy in her arms.
He looks just like him! Evan gasps and hides in his seat. He pokes his head to look out the window. He squints his eyes and sees that the boy looks just like him- except for his eyes.
Evan looks at the car’s rearview mirror, frowning at the sight of his violet eyes.
From a young age, Evan came to realize that the majority of werewolves are born with sharp, green eyes, not purple. He was born an outsider, forced by his mother to live with sunglasses glued to his face. He supposes that he’s used to it but he yearns for a life where he doesn’t live in fear of judgment.
Evan sighs. He looks back to the boy, the boy seemed to spot him and looked over to his position. Evan slams his back into the car’s seat, heavily breathing.
Evan balls his fists in his lap. Determination takes over his body. He realizes that he must uncover the mystery of the pretty lady and the boy who looks just like him.
Sebastian’s POV
Lily attaches herself to my arm as we leave the building, and I cannot hide the look of irritation that flashes across my face. She nuzzles her face into my shoulder with a sickening, sweet smile. I tilt my head away in response, trying to shake her off my arm.
People watch us as we cut through the sidewalk and towards my car. They whisper and point at us, I can’t help but feel even more irritated at the spectacle that Lily has created around us; I just know that there will be rumors spread about us within the next few days.
“Miranda is just a loser half–breed from my old pack. My father kicked her out,” she begins in a simpering tone. She pauses and mildly laughs to herself, “Who would’ve thought that she’s the Healer M? She’s just as rude and money–hungry as she’s always been. I guess people never really change.”
I groan and pinch the bridge of my nose. Her overly dramatic antics have always gotten on my nerves. I simply cannot bear to handle it a second longer than I have to
My body angles itself to open my car door for me, but she blocks my path. Her hand closes the slightly ajar door. The slam jolts Evan from inside the car.
My gaze narrows at her, looking down at her flushed cheeks. She bats her eyelashes at me and Sighs, finally meeting my gaze.
“Evan is five years old…and neither of us has found our fate mate yet, Sebastian,” she begins. Annoyance bubbles inside of me. “Perhaps it’s time to consider becoming chosen mates, no? It would be the best solution for

everyone, don’t you agree?”
“I’m willing to support you financially, but beyond that, you’ll need to handle things on your own. I will not compromise my principles when it comes to resolving your issue with the formula. I also won’t strip you of your right to see Evan as his mother.” I sharply respond, not even looking in her direction.
Evan’s head perks up from the backseat of the car, and the car window has already rolled down. He looks at me, and I offer him a very quick, very brief smile before Lily’s voice swats it away.
“Evan, honey,” she smiles at him, glancing at me as if she onto something, “wouldn’t you like it if mommy came to live with you and daddy? It would be so much fun! We can cook dinner together, and I can read your bedtime stories! We can finally be a real family with each other!”
Evan’s face barely moves an inch. His expression doesn’t falter. All he can do is roll his eyes and then look at me. I nod. He rolls the car window up. Lily gasps and looks at me
“Stop wasting your time and energy on pointless schemes, Lily.” I slide into the backseat of the car, taking my place next to my son. I lock the doors before Lily can make an attempt to get inside, and we drive
away.
My Beta drives for a couple of blocks, leaving us alone with the music that Evan picked out for us to
listen to. I glance at him out of the corner of my eye, sighing as he longingly looks out the window. My thoughts cannot help but wonder what my son thinks about during the day.
Evan’s expression is almost always filled with melancholy; other days, he looks so lonely that it rips my heart to shreds. I love my son, my heir, and I want nothing for the best for him. Perhaps, like me, he is destined for a lonely life, a lonely life only the Alpha King earns.
The wolf inside of me stirs. He claws his way to the forefront of my mind, occupying any free space for thoughts I have in my mind.
She has a scent I like…
The wolf’s voice growls from within. I groan, trying my best not to alarm Evan, who remains very still beside me.1 tilt my head away from him, resting my forehead against the window.
She’s an arrogant and disrespectful woman. If she can’t solve the formula Issue, then I’ll make for sure that she pays for the audacity she’s shown.
My wolf growls in irritation. I can feel his impatience claw and scratch at my mind. I’m impatient, too, but more doubtful and pessimistic about finding my fated mate
I clench my fists in an attempt to push away my wolf’s anger. Its irritation mixes in with my own, and I grunt under my breath.
With Evan in my life, I have an heir, nobody to contest my role or his future as the Alpha King. He’s all I need. He is my son, after all.
“Maybe we are among the few unlucky wolves that will never find their fated mate,” I sigh, my thoughts fly from Iny lips, voice barely above a whisper. Evan looks at me, and I avoid his gaze, opting to look outside the car window. “One day, I might have to settle for Lily as my chosen mate.”
The wolf inside of me growls, howling in anger. He reacts violently inside my head, screaming at me. He goes quiet, and I sigh with relief, only to have chills and goosebumps cover the entirety of my body.
Miranda…her scent…it reminds me of that night.
His words sink into my skin as my body freezes at the thought. Miranda? That night? No…it can’t be, can it?
