Chapter 47
Christopher watched Yvonne finish her bowl of soup. He thought, ‘What kind of soup is that? It seems delicious. I want to taste it too.”
After finishing the meal, Yvonne got into Wade’s car and they headed to a hotel.
Muriel and Yanis, who were waiting outside Betrico Lake, saw her helping an old man get into a car and the car speeding off toward a hotel. They somehow became angry. Yanis started the engine and followed behind the car.
“I can’t believe my sister is doing this kind of thing.” Muriel cried, “Yanis, I never thought that her life would be so miserable after she left the White family.”
Yanis said, “She asked for it!” Somehow, thinking about Yvonne’s beautiful face, he was furious.
Maybe it was because he grew up abroad. So he hadn’t seen Yvonne a lot. He didn’t expect her to look so stunning when she dressed up. He definitely didn’t think someone like her would hook up with an old man.
He thought maybe he would help her if she asked him for help.
Marty said, Mr. Sanchez, Ms. Lynch just walked into the hotel. Shall we follow her into it?”
Marty watched Yvonne help Wade walk into the hotel lobby. He could sense that Christopher was extremely jealous, which made him feel nervous.
He said, “How about you give Ms. Lynch a call? Find out what she’s doing?”
Christopher ignored him, clearly disdainful of his suggestion.
But after a while, Christopher finally couldn’t resist the urge any longer. He took out his phone and dialed that familiar number. Only five minutes had passed after Marty made the suggestion.
Christopher said, “Yvonne.” Even Christopher himself didn’t realize that he sounded childish and aggrieved.
Yvonne asked, “What’s up?” She had just stepped out of the hotel room with the gift to her grandma.
“Want to chat with me for a bit?” Christopher said, just wanting to hear her voice, “What did you have for lunch?”
Yvonne said, “Just some common food.” She stepped into an elevator but the signal was good.
Christopher asked, “How was it?” Seeing that she even drank up the soup, he thought it must be pretty good.
Yvonne said, “Not bad.”
Christopher said, “Let’s have lunch there sometime, okay?”
Yvonne could tell he was trying hard to find things to talk about. “Do you want to tell anything?”
Christopher asked, “Where are you?” It was just three simple words but coming from Christopher, they sounded lonely.
Yvonne said, “Didn’t you already know?” She walked out of the elevator, heading straight to a black car outside the hotel. She opened the door of the car and looked at him. “You’ve been following me from my office?”
Christopher pulled her into his arms the moment he saw her and said softly, “You already knew? I just happened to pass by when I saw you there.”
Yvonne thought, ‘Well, guess if I believe you!

Christopher focused hits dark eyes on her face. “Why didn’t you even call me?”
Yvonne struggled to break free from him. “How? Should I stop the car and ask you why you’re following me or what?”
Christopher held her tightly. Somehow, all his anxiety and restlessness vanished the moment he hugged her.
Yvonne shouted, “Christopher, you’ve crossed the line!” He held her hand yesterday and now he even dared to hug her.
“I just want to hold you in my arms. What am I going to do about it?” Christopher looked at her affectionately. Without asking for her permission, he hugged her more tightly. “Just a few more moments.”
Christopher’s jaw gently brushed her shoulder. He said jealously “Who is he?”

Marty, sitting in the front seat, couldn’t help but get goosebumps. He couldn’t believe Christopher was so cheeky when he acted cute.
Yvonne’s heart softened. She said, “Someone I respect.”
Christopher said, “Are you two very close to each other?”
Yvonne said, “What do you think?”
Christopher said, “You didn’t help me with the salad yesterday.”
Yvonne said, “Are you too old to hold your forks? How come you’re jealous of an old man?”
Christopher asked, “Will you do that for me next time?”
Yvonne couldn’t believe how childish he sometimes could be. She said, “Can you
let
go
of me now?”
Christopher said, “If you promise me, I’ll let go
of you.”
Yvonne said, “Okay.”
Christopher released her and then took her hand.
Yvonne was speechless.
Outside the hotel, in a BMW, Muriel and Yanis were dumbfounded. Right after Yvonne walked out of the hotel room of an old man, now got into another luxury car. They thought this car must belong to a big shot based on the license plate.
Muriel said, “I never thought my sister would have no self–respect.”
Watching the luxury car speed off, Yanis was furious. He wondered why she did have sex with him on her first night but chose an old man. He thought at least he was young and good at it.
Marty drove to Yvonne’s office. Yvonne didn’t get out of the car right away. Someone was still holding her hand and refused to let go of her. Yvonne said, “I’m going to be late!” She didn’t want to make a bad impression on her team on her first day.
Christopher was still holding her hand. “I’ll pick you up at work.
Yvonne said, “I have a car.”
Christopher said, “I can ask Marty to drive it back for you.”
Yvonne said, “Don’t bother.”
Yvonne tried to withdraw her hand away but Christopher tightened his grip on it.

Christopher said, “I can be your driver.”
Yvonne said, “No need.”
Christopher said, “I can drive your car.”
Yvonne was speechless.
Christopher said, “It will be stormy. It’s not safe for you to drive alone.”
Yvonne said, “I really don’t need your help!”
Christopher said, “How about inviting me to your office then?”
Yvonne looked at him, feeling helpless. “I’m going to work.”
Christopher said, “We can discuss some business opportunities.
Yvonne didn’t want to negotiate with someone from a top–level company on her first day. People would think that something fishy was going on and that she must have pulled some connections.
Christopher said, “Dinner together?”
Yvonne felt extremely helpless. “I’ve got plans. Maybe another day.”
Christopher didn’t expect her to have so many plans. “How about tomorrow?”
Yvonne said, “Alright.”
Christopher said, “From now on, I’ll be your driver, okay?”
Yvonne gave him a warning look. “Don’t push your luck.”
Christopher immediately compromised. “Just one week, okay?”

Yvonne checked the time and found that she was really going to be late. She had no choice but to say through gritted teeth, “Alright.”
Christopher said, “Don’t make any appointments with other people in the next week.”
Yvonne said, “Got it.” Finally, she withdrew her hand, got out of the car, and walked into the office building.
Marty glanced at Christopher in the rearview mirror and found that Christopher was actually smiling. Marty wondered if he was having an illusion. He thought, ‘Is he really Mr. Sanchez? Has he been possessed by something? This is so weird! I have been working for Mr. Sanchez since I was eight. It is the first time in fourteen years I’ve seen Mr. Sanchez so crazy about a girl!‘
The moment Yvonne stepped into the office, her phone started vibrating.
It was Vance, the head of the Clusia branch of Vanguard Capital. Vance said, “Boss, it’s me. We have a few investments that need your approval. I’ll bring the documents over tonight for you to review, as well as all the reports of this season.”
“Alright.” Yvonne entered the elevator. “See you tonight.”
Not long after she hung up, her phone vibrated again. Yvonne found it was a call from Marlon.
Marlon said, “Sweetheart, how’s the family reunion going?”
