Chapter 13
Julian and Maverick’s eyes reflected nothing but desolation.
Suddenly, Rose opened the two gift boxes and put on the jade bracelets and the jade necklace inside.
She grabbed their hands, one on each side, and declared firmly:
*Juliant Maverick! Hazel doesn’t appreciate you, but I do! You’re amazing–Hazel just can’t see it.”
“Can’t you look at who’s right beside you? I’m pretty great too, you know…”
Rose shouted these words, ignoring the rain soaking her clothes.
In an instant, the entire campus fell silent, including Julian and Maverick.
Maverick’s lips twitched uncomfortably as he responded with forced humor:
“Rose, you’re not serious, right? Cut it out. Take off that jade necklace–it’s not meant for you. Be good.”
Julian stared at Rose’s hands with eyes so cold they seemed capable of severing them.
“Who gave you permission to wear these bracelets? Take them off before I remove them myself.”
“They’re not for you.”
His ice–cold hands gripped Rose’s wrists tightly, using the rain’s lubrication to forcibly remove the bracelets she had just put

Rose stood frozen in shock.
How could this be happening?
Tears welled up almost instantly. Rose cried pitifully, repeatedly apologizing: “I’m sorry, these aren’t mine. I know they belong to Hazel. I misunderstood… I thought you liked me. I was delusional.”
Before Maverick could take the necklace, she removed it herself and placed it in his palm.
“I’m sorry. It’s all my fault for taking Hazel’s things. I thought since she rejected you, I might have a chance. It was all just wishful thinking…”
Rose laughed bitterly at herself before walking away in tears.
However, after running a short distance, she realized no footsteps followed her.
This time, she truly panicked.
She had believed Julian and Maverick were under her control, hopelessly in love with her.
But why was this happening?

Even though Hazel had abandoned them on their promised confession day, why did they still love her so much?
Was she, Rose, really that inferior to Hazel?
Rose found herself at a secluded lakeside, completely lost.
This was her first day at this school, and after taking a wrong turn, she couldn’t remember how to get back.
“Why does even the path have to be against me?”
Furious, Rose kicked a nearby tree.
But the rainy conditions made the ground slippery, and she accidentally did a painful split.
Her carefully cultivated image was now a complete mess.
Rose was nearly crying with frustration, lying on the ground in pain, grimacing for a long time before managing to get up.
“Why do they love Hazel so much? Even after all this, they’re still devoted to her!”
“Family background, status, money, loving parents, childhood friends… she has everything! Why can’t she spare something for me?”
“Even just Julian or Maverick would be fine! Why does she have to be so cruel to me?”
Her resentment grew more intense as she punched the tree trunk, not even noticing when her knuckles began to bleed.
Meanwhile, Julian and Maverick were carefully placing their family heirlooms back in their boxes.
They had never intended to accept Rose.
They only felt pity for her, mainly using her as a tool to make Hazel jealous.
Now that Hazel was gone, there was no reason to be nice to her anymore.
Especially since, because of Rose, Hazel had chosen neither of them.
Julian and Maverick exchanged glances, each seeing dissatisfaction with the other.
If they hadn’t made that stupid agreement in the first place, they might have already won Hazel over by now.
Instead, they didn’t even know where she was.
Suddenly, Julian exclaimed: “Ms. Powell will know!”
Hearing this, Maverick’s head snapped up reflexively.
Ms. Powell was their high school homeroom teacher–she would definitely know which university Hazel had chosen.
