Chapter 21 The Child is Innocent
“I hear that grandfather isn’t feeling well, so I come to visit him.” Chelsea had taken great care of her appearance before coming. She held a basket of fruit and, upon seeing Aurelia at the door, pushed past her and entered the ward.
The warm atmosphere instantly turned cold.
Nathaniel glanced nervously at Reed, then took the fruit from Chelsea and guided her back out. “What are you doing here?” he inquired, his brow furrowed, his gaze unmistakably displeased. Reed had been hospitalized because of Chelsea. Nathaniel had spent the entire day yesterday trying to calm Reed down, but Chelsea had arrived to stir up further mischief.
Chelsea knew she had overstepped and said, “I’m just worried about Grandpa. Why are you being
so harsh?”
“Nathaniel, let her in,” Reed said.
Chelsea stepped out of the ward, but Reed called her back. Since Reed had given the order,
Nathaniel had no choice but to comply and bring Chelsea back in.
Reed looked at the two and spoke slowly, “Firstly, I am not your grandfather. You should be older
than Aurelia and understand that not every older man can be called ‘grandpa,‘ nor can every man
be approached intimately. Nathaniel is not someone you should be pursuing; he is already
married. Even if he were single, the Heilbronn family would not tolerate a woman of questionable
character.
“Since all three of you are here, let’s be clear. You can’t marry Nathaniel. You’d better take the
money we’ve given you and leave. If you’re unwilling to, I have some connections in Imperick, and making someone disappear is not a difficult task,” Reed said.
Chelsea was angry. She hadn’t expected Reed to be so direct and leave her with no dignity. “Grandpa, I mean no harm. I’m also a good girl with high morals. Aurelia is my half–sister, and I’m no worse than her. If you can accept her, why can’t you accept me? Nathaniel and I have been in love for over ten years. We are each other’s first love, and this love cannot be measured by money. I love him and don’t care about his status. Even if I have to be hidden for the rest of my life, I am willing to have his children.”
Reed coughed, and Aurelia quickly brought over some water.
Nathaniel, seeing this, wanted to lead Chelsea out again, but Reed stopped him. “Love requires the commitment of two people, not just your courage. If you want to have a child for him, you should ask if Nathaniel agrees. Does he want a child with you? Furthermore, I want to make it clear today

that even if you have many children, the Heilbronn family will not acknowledge any illegitimate child, nor will we provide the child any support. If you want to have children, that’s your choice, but don’t expect any money. Nathaniel is willing to accompany you through a difficult life, and I
won’t stop him. I believe I can train Aurelia to take over our famsiness in the future. It’s not
a difficult task.”
Nathaniel was taken aback. He hadn’t expected Reed to favor Aurelia to this extent, even considering handing over the Heilbronn Group to an outsider. The Heilbronn Group’s position in the top ten of the international luxury jewelry industry was the result of the efforts of three generations.
Reed was willing to entrust the management of this three–generation effort to that woman. He must be out of his mind.
The ward fell silent. Nathaniel was in a daze for a long time, realizing that all three of them were staring at him, seemingly waiting for him to make a decision.
Chelsea looked at him with a pair of moist eyes that were filled with anticipation and grievance. “Nathaniel, do you want our child? You should.”
The atmosphere became very tense.
Aurelia was nervous, thinking, ‘Of course, he would look forward to having a child with Chelsea. At this moment, I self–destructively want to hear him say it himself so that I can completely give up.‘
Nathaniel remained silent for a long time, and time passed slowly in her mind. Finally, he said, “The child is innocent.”
This sentence deeply pierced Aurelia’s heart.
He did want to have a child with Chelsea, even if Reed said he had to leave the Heilbronn Group.
At this moment, Aurelia could no longer hold back, and tears streamed down her face.
They had been married for three years, and all she had received was disappointment.
“I’ll go get some water.” Aurelia found a reason and pushed the door open, numbly making her way to the hot water room.
When she saw someone else fetching water, she realized that she had come empty–handed and had yet to bring the kettle.

After she was alone in the hot water room, Aurelia could no longer hold back and leaned against the wall, crying out loud.
‘Don’t have any expectations for him, Aurelia! He doesn’t love you!‘ She kept telling herself, but her heart was in pain.
Not being loved was the original sin.
In the ward, after Aurelia left, Reed was extremely disappointed in Nathaniel. “Have you made up your mind? Are you going to give up the Heilbronn Group, give up everything you have now, and go with this woman?“.
Nathaniel rubbed his temples and said, “Grandpa, this is a false proposition. We won’t have children, and if we do, it’s not the child’s fault. I will find a way to handle this matter properly. Take care of yourself. Besides, I won’t stand by and watch you hand over the Heilbronn Group to
Aurelia.”
Hearing that he wouldn’t give up the Heilbronn Group, Chelsea felt relieved. She didn’t want to live a hard life with a destitute man, and if that were the case, Chelsea would rather not have this
love.
Reed closed his eyes. “Alright, you two can go out. If there’s nothing else, don’t come in.”
As soon as they left, Chelsea weakly leaned into Nathaniel’s arms and said, “Nathaniel, my heart feels a bit uncomfortable. Can you feel how fast it’s beating?”
Nathaniel helped her up, took a step back, and left a safe distance between them, looking at her
with deep eyes exuding a cold aura. “Chelsea, did you answer my call yesterday?”
Chelsea was a little flustered, knowing that the truth was out. “Nathaniel, you were sleeping so soundly yesterday that I couldn’t wake you up no matter how many times I called. Your phone
kept ringing, and when I saw it was Aurelia calling, I was afraid she had something urgent to tell you, so I answered. But after she heard my voice, she scolded me. It was my fault for answering
your call and making Aurelia unhappy. Apologize to her for me. After all, she doesn’t really want
to talk to me right now.”
After hearing the explanation, Nathaniel didn’t blame her but warned after a long time, “You are
not allowed to appear in front of my grandfather in the future.”
Chelsea had known him for so long and knew his bottom line. She came to see Reed today to test Nathaniel and force him to make a decision.
Hearing his words, ‘the child is innocent,’ she felt at ease.

“Nathaniel, I’m sorry. I am impulsive today. I should have discussed it with you before I came. You go take care of your grandfather, and I’ll leave first
Chelsea thought he would see her off. Nathaniel, however, turned directly and went to the smoking area.
She was a little worried about her behavior today,,
Aurelia regained her composure and met Nathaniel, who had come back from smoking, at the
door of the ward. The two of them didn’t say a word.
Reed, seeing the two of them come in one after the other, breathed a long sigh of relief. “You two come over. I have something to say.”
