Chapter 21
Chapter 21
The photo showed Rose heavily bandaged, with visible injuries that were disturbing to behold.
Yet Hazel remained unmoved.
“So, you’ve come seeking forgiveness on her behalf? That hardly seems necessary.”
She saw no need for further explanations and tugged at Aiden’s hand, signaling they should leave.
However, Maverick grabbed her other hand tightly, hastily explaining:
“We’re not here for Rose’s forgiveness! She deserves what happened to her!”
“We were deceived by her, which is why we acted coldly toward you and were nice to her…”
Julian and Maverick took turns explaining everything that had happened, fearing that any further delay might mean losing Hazel forever.
Their vastly different eyes conveyed identical sincerity.
Yet Hazel felt no emotion–only a sense of bitter absurdity.
Were they joking?
Or trying to manipulate her again?
She couldn’t help but let out a derisive laugh. “Is this your explanation? How utterly ridiculous.”
“Even if everything you’re saying is true, the pain I experienced was real. I don’t want to forgive you, and I never will.”
Having grown up with them, Hazel knew they were telling the truth.
But precisely because of that, their supposed love disgusted her even more,
The cherished memories of their friendship that she had once treasured were now completely tainted.
They claimed to love her, yet spent the past year systematically hurting her.
Her heart was flesh and blood–she couldn’t endure repeated wounds and still offer unconditional love.
So she had finally let go.
Yet now they were telling her that they had hurt her because they loved her? How absurd.
Hazel’s laughter gradually gave way to tears that she quickly wiped away. She mourned for her former genuine feelings.
Aiden pulled her into a comforting embrace, gently patting her shoulder.

Chapter 21
“Julian, Maverick, a mature person who loves someone would never use pain as a method of courtship.”
“If you truly cared for Hazel, you wouldn’t have hurt her like this.”
“By the way, allow me to introduce myself–I’m Hazel’s fiancé.”
At these words, Julian and Maverick froze in disbelief.
Julian’s eyes filled with shattered emotions as he ground out:
“Hazel, tell me if this is true. Just say it’s not, and I’ll believe you.”
Hazel glanced at Aiden in surprise.
He gave her a reassuring look, and she immediately understood, leaning naturally into his embrace and intertwining their fingers.
“Isn’t it obvious enough? My parents arranged this match years ago. He’s already my fiancé.”
Watching their intimate dynamic, Maverick’s eyes reddened with fury.
“Let go, Hazel. Come on, baby, childhood engagements aren’t binding. We love you–stop trying to make us jealous with this guy. It’s not funny.”
With that, he reached forward, attempting to separate their hands.
“This joke isn’t amusing. Yes, we made mistakes, and you can punish us however you want, but not like this. We can’t live without you!”
Julian’s face darkened as he moved closer.
Hazel’s expression changed subtly as she whispered to Aiden: “You should leave. I’m afraid they might get violent, and we probably can’t handle them both.”
