Chapter 8
Then came a woman’s voice, pretending to calm him while actually stirring things up: “Knox, calm down. She just made the mistake every woman makes. Just forgive her.”
I smiled coldly: “Knox, you’re pathetic. You and that trashy woman beside you are perfect for each other.”
Knox was visibly stunned, followed by a furious roar.
Frowning, I held the phone away from my ear, and regardless of whether he was listening or not, I loudly stated my demand:
“Remember to complete the divorce process with me when I get back!”
After saying this, I blocked his number.
But he wouldn’t give up, continuing to call from different numbers, determined not to rest until he got answers.
I had no choice but to turn off my phone completely.
The very next day, the news had been removed from all websites.
Ethan still hung his head, feeling guilty: “I’m sorry, Riley. I’ve caused you trouble.”
I shook my head with a smile: “How many times do I have to tell you it’s okay?”
“I should probably thank you. Thanks to you, I can cut ties with that scumbag faster.”
Ethan knew exactly who I was referring to, and his eyes gleamed with hope: “So does that mean I’ll have a chance to pursue you soon…”
Before he finished speaking, a dark figure came out of nowhere and punched him in the face.
Ethan was stunned momentarily, but after recognizing the attacker, the two immediately started fighting.
People around us reacted and rushed to separate them.
Knox grabbed Ethan’s collar and yelled: “So you’re the one fucking my wife, huh?”
Ethan fought back fiercely: “I’ve been wanting to teach you a lesson, for Riley for a long time, you piece of shit!”
They fought more intensely, and it took a lot of effort from the crowd to pull them apart.
Knox was breathing heavily, “Babe, let’s go home!”
His eyes red, he tried to grab my hand.
Ethan quickly stood between us: “You’re almost divorced and you still call her ‘babe‘? Don’t think about taking Riley anywhere.“
The blatant provocation made Knox furious: “And who are you to say that, you shameless homewrecker!”
“Leave now!” Before Ethan could answer, I stepped forward pointing at Knox’s face. “Don’t make me call the police.”
In an instant, Knox froze, staring in disbelief: “Riley, what do you mean?”
“You know exactly what I mean. I sent you the divorce papers ages ago. What are you pretending for?”
As Knox took half a step back, his face showed extreme hurt as he stammered: “But I… I thought you were just angry…”
But the next second, he glared at Ethan with fury: “You’re giving him up for this fucking man? Have you two been together all along?”
“Don’t throw dirt on me! There’s nothing between us. You’re the one who cheated during our marriage!”
Seeing my face red with anger and my hands slightly shaking, Knox hurriedly shook his head to explain: “No, babe, I didn’t…”
Seems like he wouldn’t believe it until he saw proof-“Have you forgotten? There are security cameras in the living room and study.”
