Chapter 77
Athena’s POV
Beep… Heep… Hespur
It’s a rather annoying little sound when one stops to think when it, for over the past few hours it was all could temporarily hear as my hearing fades in and out, my body on the board of being awake and nake, the set of chlorine and other such cleaning chemicals bitting my nose as I move to breath slowly, my nose when picking up on the sands of many others too.
‘Athena?‘ whispers a voice carefully to me, causing me to stir slightly,
-Huh? Who is it?‘ I groan softly to the voice, dearly still not with it as 1 fight to wake up my body stiff as if I hadn’t moved in at least a couple of days max.
‘Seriously? You forgot about me already‘ gizzles the voice, sounding anused by my lack of response
Pausing, 1 try to piece together the voice that was sounding off within my mind only to finally realize who it was, the voice I had been wanting to hear since my escape from the Rogue King A–Artemis? I all but cry, mentally happy to have her back.
‘Oh my stars, you have no clue how much I’ve been missing your sweet voice I finally say, finally admitting that I missed her during that
time,
I missed you as well my dear sweet Athena, but all okay now, we’re safe replies Artemis as she purrs softly within my head.
‘Safe?‘ I question still unaware that I was back with my mates even as their scents surrounded me in the hospital room.
‘Yes, we’re back home, with our mates, our family and our friends‘ answers Artemis, causing me to tense.
‘Impossible‘ I stammer again not realizing what was going on around me
‘Oh but it is, just open your eyes and you’ll see was all I heard as Artemis nudges me to open my eyes, my body now slowly beginning to wake up after sleeping a soft moan rising past my lips which catches the attention of those within the room.
“She’s waking up” says a familiar voice, my eyes fluttering open as i take in the brightly lit room as I slowly adjust my gaze.
“Wha Where am 17” I mutter, my voice parched from not using it properly.
“Easy there love, you’re at the hospital, you’re safe now murmurs Ares as he gently takes a hand in his, drawing my attention over trim as he and Eros sit next to me in a chair, Eros silently watching me as he does.
“Water?” I say, just as Eros moves to get me some water, filling a glass half full before bringing it to my lips as I take a couple of sips to
wet my throat.
Taking this time to sip my water does another voice move to speak, “You had us so worried little one, you’ve been asleep for 3 days, we weren’t sure if you’d ever wake up” replies the voice that I now recognize as my Uncle Rick’s voice as he sat on another chair next to my
left the twins on my right.
“Where’s Uncle Alex?” I ask, hoping to avoid the white elephant in the room at the moment.
“He’s handling some business but he said he’d return once he knew you were awake” answers Rick, attempting to ease my mind as I move to shift my focus back towards my mates.
“And… What about the babies?” I finally ask, my hand coming to rest against my baby bump, the babies gently kicking me as I did as if trying to tell me they were okay too.

“Their fine love, it would seem they were magically protected during your two weeks of being held prisoner whispers Eve, nging to f her comfort as he sets the glass of water down, his eyes returning to me my he dres
sighing, I feel like a weight had been lifted as I was worried that my babies seould have been harmed while being in the presence of the Hogue King but apparently it did not as they were safe from the danger Good, for I don’t know what I would do if anything happened to them, I’d be devastated if we let them” 1 murmur trying to think positive and not on the what if had Ezra decided to hurt them instead
“Shhh, don’t think like that, all that matters is that you’re here and youre safe, the babies included remarks Ares as he moves to bed some hair away from my face, drawing my attention to their faces as 1 Gy not to cry remembering everything I put them through
“I’m sorry” I suddenly say, now crying as I did.
Confused by my statement, the twins move to speak again only for me to cut them off. “Before you say it, again I just want to say how truly sorry I am for hurting you… that wasn’t my intention” I say in one go, wanting them to know I truly meant that,
“Whoa, Whoa, easy there love, we aren’t mad with you, we know you didn’t mean to do it, that he forced you into doing it, so if anyone’s to blame, he is, and when we find him, he’ll pay dearly for what he’s done to you and to us” replies Ares with conviction, both he and Eros showing no signs of ill will or any hatred towards their mate, only love and devotion.
Feeling tears rise again, do I move to let them cry, the twins attempting to comfort me as I did, unaware of the 8 new people in the rooms until someone cleared their throat. “I hope we’re not bothering you Luna, but we just wanted to make sure you were okay” replies a woman’s voice drawing my attention over to Cara,
“Cara?” 1 question, tears still present within my eyes as I move to see Cara, Elise, Ashton, Isaac, Sophia, Brayden, Addison and Kai. “What are you guys doing here? I would have thought you all would have left after the failed baby shower” I say quickly not thinking they would
stay.
“Oh heavens no, they wanted to stay my Luna, in fact they’ve been here since you were taken. The only new person here is Addison as she came straight away once she sensed Cara in danger” explains Kai to his Luna as they all move to keep their focus on Athena.
Not liking what she was hearing she moves to look at those who stood before her, “Why? After all I’m no one special and you all only just met me, why would you risk the safety of your packs just to be here and worry about some pathetic Luna?”
“You’re not pathetic” remarks Elise, her eyes stern. “Your my friend and yes I say friend, because you are indeed special, These two knuckle heads have been fighting for you since day one and by that alone makes you special”
“Not only that but our packs are one with the alliances, if one pack falters or needs a helping hand then it’s our job as Alphas to help that pack just like Ares and Eros have done everything that they can to help us when we need it” remarks Cara proudly.
Biting my lip, I hesitate to answer, unsure how to as these people have done nothing but show me kindness, my heart clutching in pain as I’m unsure of how to reply back to them. ‘Why not say thanks or something along those lines‘ whispers Artemis as she tries to coax me into speaking.
Sighing, I speak again. “Thank you” I say as I move to smile softly at those who stood before me, an overwhelming sensation growing from deep within as it finally dawns on me that I might actually have true friends, people who honestly care about me and the safety of my pack as well as my mates.
“Of course, after all we’re friends and friends help one another always” smiles Elise, causing me to smile bigger before the eight of them move to make themselves comfortable as we simply just talk, keeping things simple and low key until I was able to leave the hospital.
