“Zayden, are you joking? I don’t have the ability to help the Holt family. If that’s why you’re here, then forget it.”
With that, Eliza turned to leave with Nolan.
But Zayden stepped in front of her, lowering his voice. “I saw it.”
He’d seen it with his own eyes–those unsorted supply forms in Eliza’s home.
And there’d been a property deed sitting on the table.
These past few weeks, Eliza had been selling masks. Everyone assumed she was working for someone else.
But all the signs now pointed to one truth–Eliza was the boss behind it all.
“Elizze, if the Rivers family finds out, they won’t let you go.”
That family wasn’t any better–just a pack of leeches.
And now that the Rivers family was in financial trouble, if they found out Eliza was making money, they’d do everything in their power to seize her earnings.
“You’re threatening me?”
Eliza had caught the implication clearly.
It was a threat.
And not even subtle.
Next to her, Nolan’s gaze turned icy cold. He took a step forward–and the pressure instantly shifted.
He said, each word sharp and clear, “I’ll count to three. Get lost.”
Zayden frowned. “I’m talking to Elizze, not you.”
“Even if she wanted to help, I wouldn’t let her give you a dime.”
“And who are you to make decisions for her?”
Zayden had already figured it out.
Nolan liked Eliza.
Only someone as emotionally oblivious as Eliza wouldn’t notice it.
Nolan stepped closer, a faint smirk playing on his lips. In a voice low enough for only Zayden to hear, he said, “But you already know, don’t you? She’s mine.”
“I asked the homeroom teacher. You two aren’t even dating.”

“I said–she’s mine. No one touches her.”
As the words left Nolan’s mouth, two bodyguards appeared in the distance.
More and more students began to gather around.
Not many could bring personal security to the SAT.
Everyone was curious–which big shot had come to take the exam?
The bodyguards stepped forward and blocked Zayden’s path.
His face darkened.
Nolan didn’t say another word–he just took Eliza by the hand and led her away down the hallway.
“Hey! What were you two just talking about?” Eliza asked.
“Just some guy stuff.”
“Who’s bigger?”

Nolan flicked her forehead. “What’s going on in that head of yours?”
“…Slip of the tongue. My bad.”
When it came to “guy stuff,” Eliza couldn’t think of anything else.
What else could it be?
“Stay away from Zayden. The Holt family will drag you down with them.”
“You don’t have to tell me. I know.”
The Holt family was already beyond saving.
That was probably why Zayden had swallowed his pride and come to her.
It was pathetic, really.

Suddenly, Eliza remembered something. She turned to Nolan and said, “Oh right–he said the same thing.”
“What?”
“To stay away from you.”
“And?”
Nolan leaned closer to her. “Are you going to stay away from me?”

“Not even a little.”
Eliza raised the hand he was holding. “Looks pretty close to me.”
Hearing that, Nolan arched a brow. “That’s more like it.”

Not far away, Henry finally found them.
But what he saw was Eliza and Nolan tucked into a corner, doing who–knows–what.
His expression darkened.
Still, he quickly composed himself and approached casually. “Since when were you two so close?”
Hearing Henry’s voice, Eliza instinctively pulled her hand away.
Nolan turned around. “What are you doing here?”
“I came to find you guys, of course. I’m starving. Colton and Lewis are waiting outside. Let’s go to the cafeteria.”
“Sounds good. I’m starving too.”
Eliza clutched her stomach.
She hadn’t dared eat much that morning, worried she’d upset her stomach. After a long, stressful morning of exams, she was absolutely famished.
Seeing Henry show up just in time, Eliza followed him without a second thought.
Nolan had no choice but to trail behind her.
Henry deliberately slowed his pace, leaning toward Nolan and whispering, “What were you two talking about just now?”
“…Nothing.”
“Nolan, you never keep secrets from me.”
Henry slung an arm around Nolan’s shoulder, putting on a relaxed smile. “You’ve got a thing for our Elizze, don’t you?”
“Our?”
Henry grinned mischievously. “Unless you think she belongs to you?”
“I-”
Before Nolan could finish, Henry had already walked ahead, calling back, “I’ll lead the way! The food
here’s nothing special…”
