Chapter 4
The next day, Damian and I arrived at the set together.
Nora had already changed into her costume and was waiting to start.
This scene was where Nora, as my stand–in, was supposed to take a slap for me.
“That’s not good, do it again!”
“How the hell are you acting? You need to show some pity but also a little defiance. Do you even
nderstand? Who are you giving those dead fish eyes to?! Ah!!”
“Do it again!”
“Do it again!”
“Do it again!!”
As I listened to the director’s furious shouts, Damian’s grip on my hand tightened.
By the time the assistant director called for a retake for the seventh time,
Damian’s eyes flashed with a cold glint. He finally couldn’t hold back and strode over.
“Just do the scene, but keep your mouth clean. If I hear you cursing again, you’d better pack up and leave!”
Damian’s sudden outburst left the crew bewildered.
They couldn’t understand why Mr. Howard, who usually only had eyes for Violet James, was so angry over a minor stand–in.
The assistant director hurried to apologize, repeatedly.
The entire crew was in an uproar, murmuring among themselves.
“What’s up with Mr. Howard today? He’s actually losing his temper over a small actress.”
“Yeah, he never interferes with these things.”
Such a strange situation.”
Istood by the car, listening to the crew’s gossip, but my eyes stayed locked on Damian.
He seemed to completely ignore my presence, coldly pulling Nora’s arm.
Then he suddenly stopped, his expression turning even darker.
“Logistics and props department heads, get over here!”
“Is this the costume you prepared for the actress? In minus 12–degree weather, it’s so thin–how do you expect her to wear this?”
“Look at her hands, they’re already frozen and turning purple. Logistics and props, everyone who’s been pocketing the crew’s budget–get your things and leave!”
After those words, most of the crew looked visibly shaken.
Damian took off his coat and wrapped it around Nora with genuine concern.
Nora, tightly wrapped in his arms, turned her head to look at me, her gaze full of challenge.
Damian turned to leave with Nora, but suddenly locked eyes with me.
His angry expression froze when he saw me.
Before he could say anything,
I walked straight into the trailer and told the driver to take me home.
From the looks of it, today’s shoot was never going to happen anyway.
