Chapter118
Hearing Sam, Ashley snapped back to reality. Yesterday, when she fell, he didn’t help her. He didn’t care about her injury. He was likely worried about Tanya’s feelings. Her well–being meant nothing to him. Otherwise, why would he react that way?
She was about to say no when Chase spoke, “Ask your mother.”
Sam asked Ashley,“Mom, Dad wants. Ashley said directly, “No, I’m busy.”

talk to him.”
Oh…” Sam told Chase, “Dad, Mom said no.”
Chase:“Hmm.”
Sam:“Mom, goodbye.”
“Bye.”
After hanging up, Sam said, “Dad, Mom seems angry.” She didn’t know why but felt it.
Chase:“Really?”
“Yes.”
“Hmm.” That was it.
Ashley worked from home for a few days. Sam called daily, checking on her injury, but didn’t visit. Burke replied to their “homework” two days later. Their analysis, considered confidential elsewhere, was deemed worthless by Burke. So, they spent the next few days revising their work. By Monday, Ashley’s ankle was better. She could go to work. Tim said, “Chase wants to collaborate.” Chase hadn’t come himself but sent someone last week. He hadn’t told Ashley to avoid upsetting her. Chase would send someone again. If everything went well, they’d finalize the plan.
