Chapter149
She didn’t call Chase again; he didn’t call her. She
ate dinner alone. She hadn’t considered asking the matriarch for help; it might make things worse. Chase respected her but did as he pleased.
After dinner, she worked on her computer. Late at night, a car arrived. Sam saw Ashley’s car, telling Chase, “Mom’s car! She’s home!”
“Hmm.” Chase glanced at the car and went inside. Sam asked the housekeeper, “Where’s Mom?”
“Upstairs.”
Great!” Sam ran upstairs. Ashley had just closed her computer and left the master bedroom when Sam hugged her, “Mommy!”
“Hmm.” Ashley only touched her hair. Sam, oblivious, chatted. Chase came upstairs; their eyes met. He showed no emotion; she was calm. She told Sam, “Ask the housekeeper to bathe you; I need to talk to Dad.”
Chase stopped. Sam, happy after two days out, didn’t object and went to the bathroom. Ashley looked at Chase, who was on his phone, “Let’s talk in the room?”
“Hmm.” Ashley entered first, “Close the door.” She didn’t want to disturb Sam. They hadn’t argued before; Chase ignored her; she cherished their time together and didn’t want to argue
Chase closed the door and looked at her, “Talk about what?”
Ashley stated the issue,“Tanya’s aunt and uncle bought the villa opposite my uncle’s house. They’ve been renovating. They’ll move in soon.”
