Chapter 251
He looked at Ashley.“It’s cold out. Let’s go home.”
Ashley stepped back.“Okay.”
Sam cheerfully waved goodbye.“Bye, Mommy!”
“Mm–hmm,” Ashley replied.
Chase carried Sam to the car. Ashley didn’t wait for them to leave before turning towards her
own car.
Chase watched her go, then turned to his driver.“Let’s go.”
His car quickly merged into traffic.
As Ashley reached her car, Zark emerged from his vehicle.“Ashley.”
Ashley, initially thinking it was a stranger, turned around upon hearing her name. She recognized Zark. Assuming it was a chance encounter–they hadn’t booked the entire hotel–she nodded and unlocked her car, preparing to leave.
Seeing her indifference, Zark hesitated. Ashley, noticing him watching her, asked with a cool, distant tone, “Is something wrong?”
He hesitated. Ultimately, he chose not to mention tonight’s events.
“Dandan has a gift for you,” he said.“Would you be free to have dinner sometime in the next few days?”
Dandan had clearly suffered some traumatic event. She’d even mentioned to Ashley she felt a kinship with her mother, who was deceased. Ashley understood Dandan’s attachment to her. She liked Dandan. Normally, she’d set aside her issues with Zark to spend more time with Dandan. But this was different.

Zark didn’t elaborate.“Think about it. Call me anytime you decide.”
Ashley remained silent. Zark, Tanya, and Chase were all close. She didn’t trust Zark. Even if the project succeeded, if she ever clashed with Tanya, who’s to say he wouldn’t, like Chase, use the project and her uncle to pressure her for Tanya’s sake?
