Chapter 292
Chase, without looking up from his phone, said, “Okay.”
Reassured, Ashley relaxed. Mrs. Feng, having been distracted, smiled at their conversation. After dinner, Mrs. Feng had the medicine brought to Ashley. Chase left the dining room to take a call. Ashley finished her medicine and left the dining room just as a car pulled away.
She paused.“He left?”
Mrs. Feng huffed.“Yes. In a rush. I don’t know what’s so important.”
Ashley frowned, suspecting he’d gone to XunDu to help Tanya. He’d promised to talk, and she hoped he’d return. But he didn’t.
XunDu had been busy for several days. After breakfast at the old house, Ashley and Tim met at the XunDu entrance. Tanya’s team was already there.
Tim said, “So early? No overtime last night?”
Quan said, “Yes, but they came in early to catch up.”
Tim didn’t comment; Ashley focused on her work.
An hour later, as Ashley was about to go to the restroom, Chase arrived. This time, it wasn’t about Tanya. After greeting her from afar, he approached them.
Tim asked, “Mr. Sterling, something you need?”
Chase said, “I reviewed your system. It’s excellent, but I have some thoughts I’d like to discuss.” Tim glanced at Ashley.“Please, Mr. Sterling.”
Ashley said, “Excuse me. Restroom.”
They nodded.
As Ashley returned, a sharp “Director Lin” echoed from the meeting room, followed by commotion. Just as Ashley turned, Chase’s expression changed; he rushed towards the meeting room, bumping hard into Ashley’s shoulder. Tim quickly caught her.“Are you okay?”
