Zark knew the location of the cake shop. After Ashley left, he didn’t go there. He got into his car, hesitated, then called Ethan.“Yu’ming, I’m back. I have a flight to catch later. Check if Chase’s free. If not, meet me at the hospital to see Tanya.”
Ethan was astonished.“You’re back? When did you get back?”
Zark ignored the question.“Call Tanya first. See if she’s available.”
Ethan was about to ask why Zark wasn’t calling them himself but figured Zark was busy and Agreed.
Chase wasn’t free. Zark bought flowers and a fruit basket before meeting Ethan at the hospital. In the ward, Tanya smiled. “Why are you back?”
Zark replied casually, “To handle some things.” She touched the flowers, saying, “Oh…” Was he really back for work, or to see her? While he hadn’t rushed to her side immediately, his visit showed his consideration.
Ashley stayed at the Rong residence. She woke early the next day, feeling good, and went downstairs. Her aunt was already awake, preparing breakfast.“Ashley, you seem happy today.” Ashley helped with the dough.“Mm–hmm.”
As she was about to eat her noodles, her phone rang–Sam. She ignored it; Sam called again, and Ashley turned off her phone, focusing on her breakfast.
Sam, seeing the calls go unanswered, went to find Chase. He’d just finished his run, preparing to shower. Seeing her unhappy expression, he asked, “What’s wrong?”
