ChangMo was busy. That evening, Ashley and Tim returned to work after dinner. On Wednesday morning, while they were in a meeting, Tim’s secretary informed him that Zark had arrived.
Tim sighed. He knew why Zark had come without warning. Given Zark’s status, he couldn’t ignore him. He told Ashley, “Continue the meeting. I’ll go see him.”
“Okay.”

Tim said, “Mr. He, you’re too kind.”
Zark presented a document.“My proposal. Please review it.”
Tim examined it carefully. He set it down.“Mr. He, this is very generous. However, I have other considerations and will need some time to respond.”
Zark remained pleasant.“Understandable. Feel free to contact me with any questions. He left after exchanging pleasantries. Tim, impressed by Zark’s proposal and demeanor, escorted him downstairs. Ashley had finished the meeting. He said, “Zark is efficient.” He’d rejected him two days ago, and today he’d arrived with a comprehensive proposal.
“To be honest, I’m quite tempted,” he said.
Ashley said, “Let’s observe. If it’s suitable, we can collaborate.”
Tim agreed but felt frustrated that his attempts to make things difficult for Zark were thwarted. Around 5:30 PM, Ashley’s phone rang–Sam. She ignored it, continuing her work. Two days later, Sam called again. Ashley ignored it, making breakfast. Sam felt like throwing her phone but stopped, her eyes welling up. She told Chase, “This is the fourth time. I’ve called Mommy four times since Saturday, and she hasn’t answered.”
“Call her later,” Chase said.
“What if she still doesn’t answer?”
“Wait a bit longer. She will.”
