Ashley bent down, hugging Dan Dan.“Dan Dan, long time no see.”
Seeing Rong Xun and Rong Yunhe looking bewildered at Zark and Dan Dan, Ashley introduced them. Zark greeted them warmly, “Nice to meet you.” He presented gifts.“I wasn’t sure what you’d like, but I hope you enjoy these.”
Rong Xun, Rong Yunhe, and even Ashley were surprised by his thoughtfulness. After pleasantries, they boarded the boat. Rong Xun and Rong Yunhe knew about Ashley’s
pending divorce from Chase. Seeing Ashley talking to Zark while holding Dan Dan’s hand, our future uncle?* Rong Xun exchanged a look with Rong Yunhe:*Is this
Rong Yunhe replied with a shrug.*Probably?*
Seeing that Zark and Ashley weren’t paying attention, Rong Xun whispered to his brother, “He’s handsome, too.” And much more approachable than their previous uncle–in–law. Watching Ashley interact warmly with Dan Dan, their feelings were complex. They knew Ashley was divorcing Chase and likely wouldn’t get custody of Sam. Sam, despite being back in the country, rarely visited their family. They suspected she preferred Chase. It was heartbreaking to imagine how much it hurt Ashley.
Now, seeing Ashley move on, they were happy for her. They joined Dan Dan, thinking that if Ashley married Zark, his family would be kind to their sister.
