Chapter 373
Ji Qingyue, however, didn’t show favoritism. After chatting with Chase’s group, he approached Tim and Ashley. “There are more guests than expected. Please forgive any shortcomings in our hospitality.”
Tim was polite.“We weren’t invited, Mr. Ji. You’re kind.”

Qin Lao, a friend of Ji Lao, didn’t understand painting, but had come to show support. Ji Lao, unable to attend to him personally, asked Ji Qingyue to bring out a chessboard and tea set, finding someone to keep Qin Lao company.
Ji Qingyue excused himself and left. Ji Lao, picking up a handful of chess pieces, looked at his friend, Li Lao.
Li Lao grumbled, “I always lose to you. Find someone else.”
Qin Lao looked at Ji Qingyue.“Qingyue is probably busy.”
“Yes,” he replied, considering the many guests to attend to. Ji Huanying also had matters to attend to; sitting down for a game would be inappropriate.
“How about another young person?” Li Lao suggested.
Qin Lao knew Chase, renowned for his intelligence. He looked towards Chase.“Young Master Feng, you play chess, right? Would you mind playing a game with this old man?” Chase put down his cup.“It’s my honor to play with Mr. Qin.”
He sat opposite Qin Lao.“Please, Mr. Qin, enlighten me.”
Tanya, Zark, and others gathered to watch. Ashley and Tim joined them, standing behind Qin Lao. Tanya, Zark, and the others played chess. Noticing Ashley’s focused expression, Zark approached.
“You play chess?”
A little,” Ashley replied.
Tim remained silent, knowing she played exceptionally well. Perhaps it was due to their unfamiliarity.
Initially, Qin Lao and Chase’s moves were cautious. But as they understood each other’s styles–Qin Lao’s aggressive, Chase’s defensive and opportunistic–Chase appeared to be struggling, though he was actually setting traps.
