Chapter61
Many people approached Chase’s group; they didn’t notice Ashley. Tim knew that Ashley was strong–willed and determined. In her profession, she dedicated herself completely, even if the outcome wasn’t commercially viable. She believed in trying. The same applied to relationships. She loved Chase and had sacrificed her career for her family. She didn’t regret it. He believed her when she said she was fine.
He smiled.“Want a drink?”
Ashley smiled at him.“Sure.” They went to the food area.
“Want some wine?”
“A little.” Ashley didn’t like alcohol but could hold her liquor. They clinked glasses, quietly sipping
wine.
Someone approached.
“Tim, it’s you!”
“Professor Louis.” Tim greeted him warmly. “I was looking for you.”
Professor Louis teased.“Really? I doubt that.”
“Seriously! I wanted to introduce someone to you.” He gestured to Ashley. “Ashley Sterling, my junior. A programming genius. She can help you.”
“Your junior?” Tim’s teacher was a VR expert. His students were all leaders in the tech industry. He’d never heard of Ashley.
“Yeah!” Tim laughed. “SLAM was developed by her eight years ago.” SLAM was the most valuable programming language in the country.
Professor Louis was incredulous.“Really?”
“You can ask her yourself.”
Professor Louis excitedly asked Ashley a few questions, then shared his problem with her. He was enthusiastic. Tim watched them, smiling.
He then saw Tanya approaching. She nodded politely. Thinking of her relationship with Ashley, he hesitated. Before he could react, she reached him. “Mr. Reed.”
