The next day, after breakfast, Ashley went to work. At lunch, Sam called. It was the first time he called since sneaking away from the resort. Ashley answered.

“Hmm.” Ashley asked, “Did you eat?”
“Yes!” He’d received a call from Tanya saying Chase took her out and asked if he wanted to join them. He’d agreed and left while Ashley wasn’t watching. They had fun until returning to the city esterday afternoon. They didn’t go home last night. This morning, feeling guilty, he called to check if she was

Ashley didn’t ask about his whereabouts; she wasn’t interested. After chatting about his studies, she hung up.
Back at the office, Tim asked, “The Tech Expo is tomorrow. Let’s go together?” Ashley:“Sure.”
The next morning, Ashley’s car broke down, and another car crashed into hers, causing a chain reaction. Drivers were yelling. Her car was blocking traffic. She apologized and called for help. But it was time–consuming, and she had to go to the expo.
