Love Story2–Chapter 1
“Hey, didn’t you say you wanted burgers yesterday? I made them for you. Come on, try some and tell me what you think,” Jayden sald, bringing breakfast over as he always did, gentle and attentive. His usual warm smile made me shudder.]
Jayden had been a live–In son–in–law since we got married, always taking care of my mom and me. Over the years, he did everything. Everyone praised me for marrying such a gentle, perfect man, and 1 belleved it too. I never would have guessed that in my last life, he’d publicly accuse me of being a cruel daughter who abused her mom for years.
Thad no idea that the mild–mannered man I married could have such a twisted side.
“Hey, what’s on your mind? Come cat.” Jayden sald, waving his hand in front of me. Swallowing the anger and confusion building inside, I sat down at the table, glancing at my mom, who was quietly eating her oatmeal. My eyes Immediately welled up with tears.]
It was today. After breakfast, she would head to the hospital and jump to her death. By the time I reached the hospital, all I’d find was her corpse. I had cried my eyes dry, holding her cold body. But Chloe pointed at me, telling me to stop pretending. I had no idea what she was talking about
Chloe claimed that my mom jumped because I had been abusing her for years. She even said my mom had confided in her, telling her she’d rather stay in the hospital every day than go home. Just as I was arguing with Chloe, Jayden arrived from home. I had hoped he would clear my name, but instead, he angrily shouted at me in front of everyone.]
“Ever since I married you, I’ve watched you abuse your mom every day! And every time I tried to stop you, you hit me too! I can’t believe you would treat such a kind, loving woman like that! She gave birth to you and raised you, how could you push her to death?
Every word Jayden said dripped with pain and righteous anger as he detalled all the supposed “abuse” I inflicted on my mom, painting me as a villain who found joy in beating her.
My desperate attempts to explain were drowned out by the crowd’s accusations. Then the coroner revealed the scars on my mom’s body, old and new, horrifying everyone. The coroner concluded that these injuries could only be the result of long–term abuse.
People cursed at me, calling me worse than a beast. Some threw garbage at me, stones even, and they would have beaten me to death right there if they could. I was handcuffed and taken away to the police station amid endless insults.
Suddenly, I was all over the news as the “Evil Daughter,” the “Most Cruel Child,” with headlines highlighting my poor mom’s tragic life. The internet exploded with hatred for me, and even in prison, I had no peace. Eventually, the other inmates tortured me to death.
Even then, I couldn’t understand how my mom, who had only been admitted to the hospital for an allergic reaction, ended up covered in scars and driven to jump to her death. The pain of my last life was still fresh in my mind. This time, I would find out the truth.]
Chapter 2
Just like before, after breakfast, Jayden said, “Ms. Bell mentioned your mom’s allergy needs another check–up. I’ve already made an appointment and will take her now.” When Jayden was about to take my mom out, I stopped them and said to my mom, “Mom, your sleeve is dirty, let me clean it for you.”
I pulled her into the bathroom, closing the door behind us. I hurriedly rolled up her sleeves and pants. My mom was confused. “What are you doing?”
“Nothing, just checking how bad your allergy is,” I replied casually, but my eyes were focused on her hands and feet. I didn’t see any scars. Not a single one. It was completely different from last time when her body had been covered in wounds.
So, where did those scars come from later? Why, In just a few hours, would her body be riddled with old and new injuries?
“Are you done in there? The appointment time is coming up,” Jayden knocked on the door, sounding as calm as ever. I
opened the door and said. “I’ll take mom to the hospital today.” Jayden was clearly surprised, but he didn’t question me. He smiled and said. “Sure, thanks for taking care of that.”
His response was so normal, so flawless, but the more normal he acted, the more desperate I was to figure out the truth. On the drive to the hospital, I asked my mom. “How has Jayden been treating you?“]
She smiled warmly. “He treats me like his own mother. He’s been so good to me.” Her answer was natural, her face full of contentment. I parked the car and looked at her seriously. “Mom, how do you think I treat you?
She stared at me, puzzled, and replied, “You’re my precious daughter. How could you ever treat me poorly?” She stroked my head, her face soft with affection. “The best thing in my life has been having such a sweet and caring daughter like you.”
I smiled slightly and didn’t say anything else. I brought her into the hospital for her check–up. When Chloe saw me, a surprised smile appeared on her face. “Jane, how come you’re the one bringing Ms. Morgan for her follow–up today?” she asked, helping my mom sit down and gently taking her blood pressure.
“Work’s not too busy today,” I said, smiling back, but all the while, I was quietly observing Chloe. She smiled warmly and patted my mom’s hand. “Ms. Morgan, look how much your daughter cares about you, even with her busy work schedule.”
y mom was filled with kindness. There wasn’t a Chloe’s demeanor was friendly and genuine. Even the way she looked at my hint of deceit, but that only made me more confused. In my last life, my mom had frequent hospital visits due to her allergles, and she always saw Chloe. She had always been warm and kind, refusing any gifts I tried to offer, insisting it was her duty as a doctor to care for her patients.]
To me, she had always been a responsible, compassionate doctor. Yet a few hours later, this same woman would publicly accuse me of being a monstrous daughter who abused her mom for years
I just couldn’t understand what had gone wr
wrong.
