Chapter 8
I met Jayden because of my dad.]
One day, my dad was inspecting a construction site and saw Jayden working under the scorching sun, drenched in sweat, hauling sand and bricks.
My dad, puzzled, asked him why he was still working so hard when everyone else had taken a break from the heat.]
That’s when he found out Jayden was from a rural area, and his parents were hospitalized, urgently needing money.
So, he worked three jobs a day, without taking any breaks.]
My dad, seeing how hardworking and filial he was, gave him money to cover his parents‘ medical bills.
He also offered him a well paying job as his driver and kept him
close.
Over time, I saw Jayden a few times here and there.
But we weren’t close
Our relationship changed after an accident.
That day, Jayden was driving my parents to a banquet.
On the way, my mom’s blood sugar dropped, so my dad asked Jayden to stop and buy some candy.
Jayden parked the car by the roadside.
He had barely taken a few steps when an out–of–control truck barreled toward my parents.
My dad died on the spot
My mom was critically injured and rushed to the hospital.
In that moment, it felt like my world collapsed.]
After going through the motions of planning my dad’s funeral, I spent every day crying and staying by my mom’s side.
However many days I stayed with my mom in the hospital, Jayden was right there with me.]
Maybe he sensed that I harbored some resentment toward hirn.[]
He didn’t say a word.
He just stayed by my side, never leaving
When I cried, he quietly handed me tissues.
When I had stomach pain, he carefully brought me hot water and my medication.
Whenever I was feeling depressed, he stood by me, taking care of everything.[]
Eventually, the stress wore me down, and I fell IIL
Jayden carried me home, cared for me during the day, and then went to the hospital at night to look after my mom.]
In just a few short days, Jayden visibly lost weight.]
Finally, just as I was getting ready to go back to the hospital to care for my mom,
Jayden brought my mom home from the hospital
When I saw my mom finally awake, I felt like my life had lightened up again.[]
Little did I know, the real darkness was only just beginning.
Maybe it was the aftereffects of the injuries from the car accident.[]
Or perhaps my dad’s death had traumatized her.
After my mom was discharged from the hospital, she became a completely different person.
Her personality changed drastically. She was unpredictable, quick to anger.
She’d blow up over the smallest things.
She chased away all the housekeepers with her constant outbursts
Sometimes, the way she looked at me was as if I were her enemy.
Anytime I did something that didn’t please her, she’d go into a rage.
The only person she seemed to like was Jayden.]]
She often told me that if it weren’t for Jayden.]
she would have died in that car accident with my dad.
y fondness for Jayden grew over time, and eventually, we fell in love and got married.]
My
After the wedding, Jayden continued to treat me with kindness. He was gentle and attentive in every way.
He took care of both me and my mom to the best of his ability.
I truly believed he was a gift from heaven.
He had given my mom a new lease on life.
And he gave me a wonderful life, too.
lie.]
But it turns out, everything was a lie.
It was only after my assistant’s investigation that I learned Jayden had a lover all along.
And that lover was none other than my mom’s current doctor, Chloe Bell
For all these years, Jayden and Chloe had been sneaking around behind my back.]
And the car accident that killed my dad?
It was all Jayden’s doing.
His plan was to replace my mom with Chloe’s mother and bring her into our home.
That’s right.
After the accident, the woman living in my home wasn’t my mom. It was Chloe’s mother.
She was my mom’s twin sister.
Back then, when my grandmother gave birth to them, the family was too poor to raise both girls.]
So, they made the hard decision to give my mom away while she was still an infant.]
Years later, my mom married my dad and became a wealthy socialite.]]
Chloe’s mom noticed her and started paying attention.]
She became consumed with jealousy, feeling that life had treated her unfairly.]
She couldn’t understand why two people born to the same mother, could end up so differently. One living in poverty while the other became a wealthy, respected woman.]
Fueled by Intense jealousy, she and Chloe began secretly spying on my family.]
Eventually, they set their sights on Jayden.]
At the time, Jayden had just earned my dad’s full trust.
He was constantly driving my dad all over the place for business,
That’s when Chloe used herself as bait, seducing Jayden and completely pulling him under her spell
In the end, Jayden, with Chloe and her mother’s encouragement, orchestrated the car accident that killed my dad.]
So, when Jayden brought “my mom” home from the hospital, it wasn’t my mom.]
It was Chloe’s mother.
She had taken my mom’s place and was living the life of a wealthy woman in our home.]
Meanwhile, my real mom had been imprisoned in Chloe’s house, hidden from the world.]
That’s why Chloe’s mom and Jayden often used the excuse of allergies or illnesses to visit the hospital, where they would meet with Chloe.
Together, they found ways to abuse and torture my real mom.]
They beat her until she was covered in bruises.
But over time, that wasn’t enough for them anymore]
Simple abuse no longer satisfied their twisted destres.]
So, they devised today’s suicide incident.]
They planned to kill my mom, and frame me for II by killing two birds with one stone.
Afterward, Jayden would inherit all my assets as my husband.
Then, the three of them would reunite and live together, happily and openly]
I never knew my mom had a twin sister. If it weren’t for the strangeness of this rooftop incident, I would have never questioned her identity]
