Chapter 6
The police glanced at the body on the scene, frowning deeply.
After quickly taking photos and collecting evidence, they turned to Matthew and asked.
“You mentioned having witnesses and evidence. Where are they?” []
Matthew confidently pointed to himself and Victoria, declaring, “We’re the witnesses. The evidence is at home. If you pull the footage from our house’s security cameras, you’ll see the whole thing!”
Without hesitation, the police entered my home and retrieved the memory card from the security cameras. They immediately began watching the footage on the spot.
Throughout this process, Matthew and Victoria wore smug, triumphant expressions
Matthew, not even bothering to glance at the footage, couldn’t wait to taunt me:
“With the police here, let’s see how you’re going to wiggle your way out of this one!”
“You’ll finally pay for your crimes.” [
“When the time comes, don’t even think about begging for merey, because I will never sign a letter of forgiveness.”
“I swear I’ll hold you accountable for our daughter’s death.”
Victoria smirked, adding her own jab:[]
“You really think you can distract everyone and clear your name? Your downfall is inevitable.”
“Bad people always get what’s coming to them–you won’t be able to keep this up much longer.”
They were both so confident, clearly picturing my grim fate. [
Meanwhile, the police continued to watch the footage, but their expressions grew stranger with every passing minute.
Finally, after reviewing all of it, one of the officers turned to Matthew with a perplexed look and asked,
“This is the evidence you were talking about?”
Matthew, not sensing anything was off, nodded eagerly.
“Yes! That woman is a monster! She’s been abusing our daughter every day. You need to arrest her right now!” []
“As her husband, I’ve been putting up with her for far too long.”
Victoria chimed in just as loudly. “Exactly! She’s a vile person who’s been abusing her own child. Don’t go easy on her. Someone like that doesn’t deserve sympathy!”
They spoke with such conviction, as if they were righteous heroes exposing a terrible villain.
But the police were bewildered. [
They began playing the security footage on a screen for everyone to see. Pointing at me, one of the officers stated plainly.
“But according to this footage, all we see is this woman taking care of her daughter with love and attention. There’s no evidence of any abuse at all.“]
