Chapter 9
At that moment, my assistant brought forward the person who was truly my blological daughter.
She looked just like Emma, the daughter I had raised all these years, bearing an uncanny resemblance due to her. Inherited features from her father. []
She was even pregnant, just like Emma. At first glance, they could have been twins.
But her face told a different story–it was filled with fear.
She looked like a frightened kitten, beaten and cautious, flinching at everyone around her.
The crowd was utterly dumbfounded.
The livestream chat was filled with question marks.
Only Matthew and Victoria stood there in shock, their eyes wide with disbelief
“You wretched girl, you’re actually still alive?!” []
Victoria was the first to snap out of it, her eyes blazing with fury as she glared at my daughter.
I quickly stepped in front of my trembling daughter, shielding her, and looked directly at Victoria.
“The middleman you hired to swap the babies? I bought them off long ago.”
“So the one who died in the fire was your biological daughter.“]
My words hit Victoria like a hammer, shattering her completely.
Though she had already realized the truth when she saw her daughter’s body, my words drove the final nail in the coffin–her real daughter was truly dead. [
Her plan had been just like last time: to switch my biological daughter with hers, let my child die in her daughter’s place, and frame me for the murder.
That way, she, Matthew, and their daughter could live happily ever after.
But instead, her own daughter had died.
She was struggling to process this reality]
Matthew’s face twisted with rage, veins hulging as he yelled,
“How can you be so cold–hearted, Charlotte? Even if Emma wasn’t your biological daughter, you raised her for years!” |
“How can you be so indifferent to her death?”
I locked eyes with Matthew, speaking slowly and clearly,
“Yes, I raised her for years.”
“But all those years of love and care were part of your carefully orchestrated plant”
“While I was thinking about how to be a good mother to Emma, she was plotting with the two of you, figuring out how to steal my fortune and end my life!
me for
“If she had even an ounce of true affection for me, she wouldn’t have helped you stage that phone call to frame me murdert
I thought back to my previous life, where I had done nothing wrong yet had been slandered by Victoria and Matthew, ultimately hacked to death by my son–in–law in front of a crowd.
My real daughter had been abused from birth, miscarried, and then burned alive.
And now, in this life, these three had once again conspired to see us dead.]
I had no reason left to show any mercy.
Emma had never been my child, but I had loved and cared for her with all my heart for over twenty years.
But according to my assistant, Emma had known the truth all along.
She had known that Victoria planned to kill my real daughter today and frame me for it, and she had willingly helped. even recording that damning phone call.
She had chosen to kill me and my daughter without a second thought, just to be reunited with Victoria
Since she had no loyalty to me, why should I have any for her?
Victoria’s eyes bulged with rage as she glared at me, her voice trembling with fury.
“Charlotte Miller, don’t you fear the consequences? Aren’t you afraid of karma?”
I looked at her with confusion and replied coldly.
“shouldn’t I be asking you that question?”
“Even if my daughter wasn’t your biological child, that doesn’t justify torturing her, beating her until she miscarried, and trying to kill her.” [
“And wasn’t it you who killed Emma? So tell me, what exactly do I need to fear?“]
The crowd gasped in shock, their faces filled with disbelief.
The livestream chat went wild with confusion:[]
“What’s happening? Wasn’t her daughter supposed to have committed suicide?” I
“Yeah, why is she saying her best friend killed her own daughter?”
“What’s the real truth behind all this?”
Amid the crowd’s confusion, I pulled out a video for everyone to see.
In the video, Victoria Hayes sneaked Into my house with a gas canister in hand, her movements suspicious and stealthy.
She poured the gasoline all over the floor, then tossed a lit lighter onto the soaked ground before turning and leaving without a second glance.
All the while, her daughter was trapped in the room, screaming in terror as the flames roared to life.
When the video finished playing, the crowd was in an uproar: []
“Whoal So it wasn’t suicide–this woman set the fire herself?”
This is beyond evil!” (
“And to think she had the nerve to frame someone else for it–what a disgracer”
“She never could’ve imagined that the fire she set to ruin someone else would end up killing her own daughter.”
“No wonder she was crying over that body earlier. Now it all makes sense. She’s the one who did something so despicable!”
In an instant, both the crowd and the livestream comments erupted with hatred and disgust toward Victoria.
After submitting the video to the police, I turned to face her.
“Our daughters may look alike, but they’re not the same. I can’t believe you, as a mother, didn’t even bother to check before burning her alive.”
“All this, just to steal my fortune. You’re truly heartless.”
In my previous life, I didn’t recognize my real daughter because when I arrived, all I saw was her charred body.
But in this life, while Victoria set the fire, Emma was locked inside the room, screaming.
I never could have imagined that Victoria would be so ruthless as to not even look at her daughter before condemning her to such a cruel death.
Victoria, now completely enraged, shouted, “Till kill you!” []
She dropped the body in her hands and lunged at me.
But before she could reach me, my son–in–law, who had been hiding in the crowd, suddenly rushed forward with a butcher’s knife.[]
Without a word, he began slashing at Victoria’s neck, blow after blow.
When she lay silent and lifeless on the ground, he turned the blade on Matthew, plunging it deep into his chest.
Within moments, both Victoria and Matthew were dead, their bodies crumpled at the feet of the horrified crowd.]
In my previous life, my son–in–law had killed me in front of everyone, seeking revenge for Emma.
In this life, he made the same choice–but this time, I wasn’t his target.
In the end, my son–in–law was arrested and taken to prison. I
Meanwhile, the police exposed the full extent of the crimes committed by Victoria and Matthew over the years!]
While I had been raising Emma with love, Victoria had kept my real daughter hidden in a house they had meticulously designed to look just like mine.
Everything in that house mirrored my home.
And just like Emma, they made sure my real daughter became pregnant. []
They even found a look alike to impersonate me, following my daily schedule and, on camera, brutally beating my pregnant daughter.[]
This is how they created surveillance footage showing “me” abusing my daughter.
In my previous life, Matthew had switched out the security footage, giving the police the falsified recordings of me “beating” my daughter.
But this time, I was prepared. I exposed their plot, preventing history from repeating itself.]
With everything finally settled, I took my biological daughter and started a new life.
Once her injuries were fully healed, we set off to travel the world together.
She had endured too much suffering over the years, and I wanted to show her that there was still beauty and hope in the world.
I planned to take her to the most beautiful, romantic places around the globe. I
I wanted to see her smile, free from pain, at every destination.
And most importantly, I wanted her to know that life is worth living, and that the shadows of the past will eventually fade
