(Aria’s POV)
The weight that had been pressing on my heart for weeks was finally gone, and I felt refreshed and invigorated.
After leaving the pack servant’s apartment, I returned to the herbal remedy company with Dominic. Today was the interview day for new herbalists, and initially, I hadn’t planned to get involved due to my previous dark mood. Now, with my spirits lifted, I decided to participate.
“I think I’d like to help with the interviews after all, I told Dominic as we reached the company entrance.
His silver–gray eyes brightened with approval. “Good. Your expertise will be invaluable.”
Upon arriving at the company, Dominic turned to Hunter Hayes with natural Alpha authority.
“You accompany Aria and assist with whatever she needs.”
“Yes, Alpha Dominic,” Hunter replied with a respectful bow.
After Dominic left for other Shadow Pack business, Hunter and I walked toward the herbal remedy company’s
main laboratory.
“Miss Summers…”
As soon as I entered the company, the manager immediately approached me with obvious relief.
“Didn’t you say you weren’t coming today?”
I chuckled lightly, feeling genuinely cheerful for the first time in weeks.
“You all go about your business. I just came to observe and help where needed.”
The manager sighed in relief, then handed me a stack of files with excitement.
“The applicants for today’s interviews are all quite accomplished, especially this one…”
My eyes scanned the papers, expecting unfamiliar names. But when I saw ‘Jason Hart‘ written at the top of one application, I was completely stunned.
“How could he…”
“Does Miss Summers know him too?” the manager asked, noticing my reaction.
I nodded slowly, my mind racing. “We used to be colleagues at Silver Leaf Herbalists.”
The manager immediately beamed. “No wonder such a master herbalist would apply at our new turns out he’s Miss Summers‘ friend.”

My heart filled with guilt. I hadn’t expected Jason to come here, which meant he had likely left Silver Leaf Herbalists because of the incident with Claire Watson.

“Aria…
I turned around and saw Jason standing nearby, his handsome face warm with genuine pleasure. His green eyes sparkled with kindness.
“Jason, why are you here for an interview?” I asked, though I already suspected the answer
Jason chuckled softly, his expression carefully neutral,
wasn’t comfortable at my previous company anymore, so I resigned.”
The simple words hit me like a blow. I felt deep emotion, knowing Jason’s discomfort was undoubtedly related to Claire’s influence and the hostile environment that had driven me away.
“Jason…” I began, wanting to apologize.
But before I could say anything meaningful, Jason smiled with apparent good humor.
“I just finished discussing salary with your manager, and it’s doubled compared to before. I guess I have you to thank for that.”
Hearing this only made me feel more apologetic. His attempt to make light of the situation highlighted how much he’d sacrificed.
“Are you free at noon?” I asked impulsively. “How about I treat you to a meal? I saw a steakhouse downstairs
that looks delicious.
“How about I treat you instead?” I quickly interjected.
Jason readily nodded with his warm smile. “Okay.”
However, at that moment, the smile on his face subtly faded. His gaze shifted behind me, taking on a wary
expression.
I looked in the direction he was staring and saw Hunter looking down at his mobile phone, texting someone
with focused concentration.
“This is your territory,” Jason said, retracting his gaze and forcing his smile back. “Would you mind showing
me around the facilities?”
I immediately nodded, eager to shift away from the awkward tension. “Of course.”
Although I said I would show him around, I directly led Jason to the herb processing laboratory. As a top professional herbalist, Jason naturally understood the value of the equipment filling the room. His eyes widened at the silver–infused preparation tables, rare moonstone grinding implements, and temperature–controlled storage units.
“That Alpha Dominic is truly generous…” Jason said, surveying the room with professional appreciation mixed with something else I couldn’t identify.
“Hmm?” I was momentarily stunned by his tone. “You mean Dominic?”
Jason smiled and nodded, though there was a calculating look in his green eyes.
“I looked at the company’s information before coming here. I know he’s the boss behind the scenes…”
I quickly nodded, feeling the need to explain.
“Yes, Dominic said he was interested in the herbal remedy industry, so he opened this company. But he

“That’s quite a coincidence… Jason said with a chuckle that didn’t reach his eyes.
“It feels like that Alpha specifically opened this company for you.”
His casual remark hung in the air, carrying implications I didn’t want to examine. Just then, I heard footsteps outside. I turned and saw Dominic push open the door, his powerful presence immediately filling the space
“Dominic? Why are you here?” I asked, surprised.
“Just came to see if you were finished yet,” he replied with a smile

“This is Jason,” I said quickly, sensing sudden tension. “You’ve met before. He’s here for an interview today.
Dominic’s lips curled into what might be called a smile, but his eyes remained cold.
“An interview?” His voice carried a dangerous edge. “My company is too small. I’m afraid it can’t accommodate a great talent like Mr. Hart.”
I looked at Dominic in surprise, catching the unmistakable hostility in his words. My wolf whimpered anxiously at the aggressive pheromones filling the air,

“Actually, it has nothing to do with whether the company is big or small, Jason replied, his voice steady despite obvious nervousness.

people.”
Jason’s gaze was fixed directly on Dominic, his green eyes flashing with unexpected courage despite his clear fear of the Alpha King’s power.
The two men faced off, separated by only a few feet, their mutual animosity crackling in the air. I found myself caught in the middle, feeling the sting of their hostility.
“T-that…” I quickly spoke, desperately trying to ease the tension
“I think it’s about time for lunch. How about we go eat? My treat today!”

“Mhm,” I quickly nodded, already feeling impatient to get started.
“Shall we go back to the company now?”
“Okay.”
I immediately stood up and turned to Dominic, expecting him to excuse himself.

“Oh, there’s something I forgot to tell you…”
“What is it?” I asked, immediately alert.
“Your brother is hospitalized…”

“What happened to James? Is he sick or injured?”
My wolf whimpered anxiously as thoughts of my only remaining family member in danger raced through my
mind.
Dominic’s silver–gray gaze swept meaningfully across Jason’s face before he shrugged with carefully helpless. expression.
“I’m not quite sure about the specific details. It just happened this morning…”
“Do you know which hospital he’s in?” I asked urgently, already reaching for my jacket.
“I do know that,” Dominic replied, his voice carefully measured.
“Do you want to go see him now?”
I hesitated for only a moment, torn between excitement about Jason’s projects and duty to family. Then I nodded decisively. “Mhm.”
