“Now I don’t know, I haven’t specifically checked, I just want to know on the day of delivery,” I said to Jason Hart as my gaze softened, discussing my pregnancy with him in the quiet corner of the cafe.
My hand instinctively moved to my belly where my unborn pup was growing. The gentle movement had become second nature to me, a protective gesture that my wolf encouraged.
Jason nodded, smiling warmly with his gentle herbalist’s manner. “Both a boy and a girl are good, as long as it’s born of you, they’ll definitely be cute and beautiful.”
His sincere compliment made my cheeks flush with embarrassment. My wolf stirred restlessly beneath my skin, responding to his kindness with pleased contentment.
“How can you exaggerate so much…” I protested, though I couldn’t help but smile at his words.
He laughed heartily, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “I say it is, it is.”
Seeing his mood lighten considerably from our earlier conversation about his mate troubles, I subtly breathed a sigh of relief. My pregnant wolf calmed as the tension in the air dissipated.
Jason quickly shifted the topic, engaging me in a discussion about our ongoing work. “Speaking of which, how’s the herbal remedy project progressing? The Northern Medical Consortium deadline is approaching.”
“It’s going well,” I assured him, grateful for the change in subject. “The formulations are stable, and the preliminary results are promising.”
We fell into comfortable conversation about our professional collaboration, the familiar territory of medicinal plants and healing compounds providing safe ground for both of us.
Suddenly, a commotion erupted in the cafe that/shattered our peaceful discussion. Numerous young she–wolves, mobile phones in hand and faces beaming with excitement, rushed outside in a frenzied wave.
Many others stood up from their tables, peering out the large windows. Their various wolf scents mixed with anticipation, creating an electric atmosphere of barely contained enthusiasm.
“What’s happening out there?” Jason asked, turning to look at the sudden exodus.
The name “Scarlett Moon” caught my attention among the excited chatter. My wolf’s enhanced hearing picked up the repeated mentions of the famous actress’s name.
I instinctively looked up, my heart beginning to race despite my attempts to remain calm.
Outside the cafe, I saw a she–wolf wearing designer sunglasses and a silk mask, surrounded by people. Even without seeing her face clearly, her striking aura immediately drew everyone’s attention.

“She’s even more beautiful in person,” one young she–wolf gushed to her friend.
“I can’t believe she’s actually here,” another whispered excitedly.
Catching the somewhat dazed expression on my face, Jason asked with concern, “What’s wrong? Do you know her?”
I averted my gaze, trying to appear casual despite the turmoil in my chest. “Sort of, we were from the same school, she was a few years ahead of me.”
The admission felt strange on my tongue. “However, I know her, but she probably doesn’t know me…”
Jason chuckled, his tone light and dismissive. “I think I’ve seen this she–wolf on TV recently, seems like she won some award…”
“Yes, Luna Excellence Award for Best Actress, the first werewolf to achieve this recognition in mainstream media,” I confirmed, my wolf’s pride evident despite my complicated feelings about Scarlett’s connection to
Dominic.
Jason turned his gaze back to me, smiling warmly with obvious sincerity. “I think she’s not as beautiful as
you.”
“Jason!” I exclaimed, a mix of exasperation and amusement in my voice. My pregnant wolf responded to his kindness with grateful warmth.
“Don’t exaggerate too much, how can I compare to a big star like her?” I protested, gesturing toward the glamorous figure outside.
Jason’s smile remained steady, but just as he was about to speak, his peripheral vision caught something. His brow furrowed as he sensed a powerful Alpha presence approaching the scene.
The shift in his demeanor was immediate and concerning. His wolf’s anxiety became evident in his shifting scent, making me tense with worry.
I looked at him with confusion, instinctively wanting to follow his gaze and see what had caused his sudden change in mood.
“Aria!” Jason suddenly called my name with urgency, making me turn to him in bewilderment.

“I just remembered there was a problem with the herbal remedy formula, come back with me to check it out. With that, Jason stood up abruptly, his wolf’s anxiety evident in his shifting scent.

I had been observing the remedy preparation all morning, and there shouldn’t have been any issues Our work had been progressing smoothly without any complications.
As I was about to get up and leave with Jason, a sudden gasp erupted from the crowd outside. The sound was collective and filled with awe, making my wolf’s ears perk up with attention.

I inferred that the so–called “scandal” with Scarlett back then must have been a misunderstanding, my wolf’s instincts confirming his loyalty beyond doubt.
Thinking this, I smiled and moved my lips, calling out with possessive clarity, “Mate…”
