Chapter 106 Prison farewell
Chapter 196: Prison Farewell
Chapter 196: Prison Farewell
Northern Territory Correctional Facility
(Aria’s POV)
“Aria,” he began, his voice rough with emotion. “I need you to know how deeply I regret everything I’ve done to
you.”
I watched him carefully, my pregnant wolf stirring uneasily within me. “Alexander, you don’t need to do this.
We’re even now.”
My hand moved instinctively to my belly, where our pup was growing stronger each day. The life inside me represented hope and new beginnings, something far removed from the broken man sitting before me.
“Even?” Alexander’s laugh was bitter and hollow. “How can we be even when I’ve caused you so much pain?”
His amber eyes searched my face desperately. “Do you hate me, Aría? Because I would understand if you did.”
I considered his question carefully. My wolf’s instincts were surprisingly calm, free from the fury and betrayal that had consumed me for so long.
“No,” I said softly. “I don’t hate you.”
Alexander’s expression crumbled at my words. “You used to look at me like I was your entire world. Your eyes would light up whenever I walked into a room. I threw all of that away.”
The pain in his voice was raw and unfiltered. “You loved me with everything you had, and I crushed that love beneath my own selfishness.”
“That was a long time ago,” I replied, my voice gentle but firm.
“I keep thinking about our marking ceremony,” Alexander continued, his hands trembling slightly. “I left you
standing there, alone, while I chased after Claire. What kind of mate does that?”
His voice broke completely. “If I had stayed, if I had completed our bond properly, would things have been different? Would you have been happy?”
I studied his face, noting the deep lines of exhaustion and the hollow look in his eyes. Elizabeth Reed’s desperate phone call echoed in my memory – she had said Alexander was giving up on life, that he’d lost all hope.
“Alexander,” I said carefully, “you seem… are you thinking about hurting yourself?”
He met my gaze directly. “Would it matter if I was?”
“It would matter to your mother,” I replied, my pregnant wolf whimpering with concern despite everything. “She’s terrified of losing you.”
“People make mistakes,” I continued, my voice taking on a more philosophical tone. “I’ve made my share of them too.”
“No,” Alexander said firmly, his Alpha pride still evident despite his broken state. “This is my fault. All of it. I chose Claire over you. I chose my guilt over my mate. I chose everything except what I should have chosen.”

1 shook my head slowly. “I was the one who initiated everything by loving you first. I encouraged your feelings. pursued you relentlessly Maybe if I had been less persistent, you would have found your way to Claire without all this pain.”
You want to know what’s funny?” I continued, my wolf finally finding peace with this closure. “If it helps you find peace, I give you permission to hate me. Hate me for loving you too much, for not being strong enough to let you go when I should have.”
Alexander’s eyes widened in shock. “Hate you? Aria, I could never hate you. You were the best thing that ever happened to me, and I was too blind to see it.”
He straightened in his chair, his Alpha nature asserting itself even in these circunstances. “My imprisonment is my penance. I won’t attempt suicide, and I won’t go mad. I’ll serve my time and atone for every sin I’ve
committed.”
I’m going to spend every day of my sentence thinking about the woman I lost and the life I destroyed. That’s my punishment, and I’ll bear it with whatever dignity I have left.”
I felt a strange sense of relief at his words. This was the closure I hadn’t realized I needed – not anger or revenge, but simply the knowledge that Alexander understood the full weight of his choices.
“Good,” I said simply, standing from my chair. “Then my work here is done.”
Alexander’s composure cracked as he watched me prepare to leave. “Aria, wait. Will we… will we ever see
each other again?”
The desperation in his voice was almost painful to hear. His amber eyes pleaded with me, searching for any sign of hope or possibility.
I looked at him for a long moment, this man who had once been my everything. My wolf was calm, finally free from the turbulent emotions that had bound us together for so long.
“No,” I said firmly, my voice carrying the finality of our severed mate bond. “We won’t.”
Alexander’s face fell, but he nodded slowly, accepting my decision with the dignity he had promised.
“I hope you find peace, Alexander,” I added softly as I reached the door. “I truly do.”
I didn’t look back as I walked away, my pregnant wolf finally at peace with this chapter of my life closing
forever.
(Aria’s POV)
Dominic was waiting for me in the prison parking lot, leaning against his luxury SUV with his characteristic patient strength. His silver–gray eyes searched my face as I approached, his enhanced senses undoubtedly picking up on my emotional state.
“How are you feeling?” he asked, opening the passenger door for me.
“Free,” I replied honestly, settling into the comfortable leather seat. “Finally, completely free.”
As we pulled away from the prison, I gazed silently out the window at the passing landscape. The weight of

“I had the items your mother shipped sent to our Moon Valley home,” Dominic mentioned, his cedar scent wrapping around me protectively. “They’re waiting for you whenever you’re ready to look through them.”

“Mrs. Caroline Lewis will be arriving from overseas tomorrow” Dominic continued, his voice carrying warmth “I’ll accompany you to pick her up from the airport.
The thought of seeing my mother again filled me with anticipation. Despite the complicated nature of my birth family, Mrs. Caroline’s love felt genuine and unconditional.
“Are you nervous about our marking ceremony?” Dominic asked suddenly, his tone shifting to something more playful.
I glanced at him, noting the gleam in his silver–gray eyes. “Should I be?”
“Only if you’re not ready to be permanently bonded to me,” he said with a grin.
Before I could respond, he reached over and grabbed my hand, placing it flat against his chest. Through his shirt, I could feel his heart racing, the rapid rhythm betraying his excitement despite his casual demeanor. “Feel that?” he asked, his powerful Alpha presence radiating anticipation. “That’s what you do to me.”
Heat flooded my cheeks as I quickly pulled my hand away. “Dominic!”
He laughed at my embarrassment, the sound rich and warm. “What? I’m just demonstrating my enthusiasm for our upcoming union.”
“You’re impossible,” I muttered, but I couldn’t suppress my smile.
The comfortable banter helped distract me from the heavy emotions of the prison visit. This was what I wanted – lighthearted moments with my mate, building toward a future filled with love and laughter.
“Dr. Nathan Lewis will pick me up from the Lewis family estate in the morning,” I said, changing the subject to something safer. “He wants to discuss some family matters before the ceremony.”
