Ashley’s POV
The doctor fixed me with a professional gaze, plastering a big smile on his face as he peered at the rest result again. “Congratulations, Lama Ashley. You’re two months pregnant.” He said, excitement evident in his voice
A deep frown framed my face as his words sank in. “Pregnant? Are you playing pranks on me? And two months after that, how come I didn’t have any symptoms?”
He took a deep breath. ‘Sometimes, things that are beyond our comprehension and control happen. This is the first time I’ve seen something like this too.”
He paused, watching me intently as though he was contemplating the simplest way to put it.
“After you lost your first child, your womb was damaged but somehow, this happened. It must be the blessing of the moon goddess.” He explained.
I yanked the test result from him and it was boldly written there I was really pregnant. A feeling of relief that I hadn’t felt in a while ran down my spine as tears of joy trickled down my face.
At last! I was finally pregnant
I would be eligible to be called the mother of the house. My mate and husband would no longer belittle me because of my inability to conceive, thanks to the moon goddess
I grabbed my bag and stood up to leave. Thank you very much, Doc”
“You will need the slip.” He reminded me.
I turned to retrieve it from him, then bolted out the door. How would I ever understand the ways of the moon goddess? 1 had come to the hospital with the thoughts of being diagnosed with some incurable disease because of the endless migraine. and nausea I had been feeling for a while.
But I guess the moon goddess wanted to give me a pleasant surprise for my third marriage anniversary.
And now, all I could think of was the picture of my husband getting me up on all fours, putting his hands on my stomach, and declaring his love for me again.
It was hard trying to keep my thoughts from wondering what Nolan’s response would be. I was happier and more nervous the closer I arrived at the company

It seemed like an asteroid falling. I never saw it coming, and it might happen to him too. If there was anything Nolan ever wished for the most, it was a child. That was all he’s ever asked of me.
And now, finally. I was about to make his dreams come through He would be the happiest person on earth and maybe I could still win his heart again and save our marriage.
His office was on the third floor so I strolled to the elevator, rubbing my stomach and whispering to myself.
As I approached his door, a feeling of dread suddenly clamped over my heart and I took in a deep breath to shake it off. My hand was on the doorknob when a painfully familiar female voice drifted out.
Zoe! I couldn’t mistake my stepsister’s voice anywhere.
My blood raced cold even as I assured myself it was nothing. Zoe was a newscaster so Nolan was probably watching the news. There was no way she was in his office. His personal space

But why did that do nothing to calm my cacing pule down?
It was because the reality of the situation was gnawing at the back of my mind Nolan is the Alpha of the Blood Dumont pack and he rarely listens to news. He got everything reported rim directly by his beta
So, it left only one option Zoe was really with him in the office And they were alone! My heart skipped different beats and my hands tightened on the doorknob
As if on cue, her voice driftes out and I winced. “Don’t you think my sister will get mad if the sees us this way! She’s the Luna, you know?”
Her voice was husky and breathless and I could tell they were probably engaged in something really intimate. Every coherent thought in my head scattered and tumbled out, Why did this have to happen today?
“Don’t ever call that woman my Lama, she means nothing to me the position was originally yours until she stole it from you. So, don’t feel bad!”
His voice was not very loud, but since I had my ears pressed against the door, it was audible enough to hear the tone of disgust that laced it.
Bile rose in my guts as I felt my heart clench tightly like it was about to burst. What in the moon goddess‘ name happening thought Zoe had already given up on chasing Nolan. That was why she traveled three years ago immediately after my wedding.
It wasn’t even five months since she came back and she was trying to seduce him again? Just when I thought I had way to make things work out between us, she came to destroy it again.

Tears streamed out my face as a shot of pain stabbed at my heart and my knuckles went white on the doorknob as I pushed the door open.
Surprisingly, they didn’t look startled, not even for a second. In fact, I had never seen Nolan so calm and relaxed in all my three years of marriage to him. It broke my heart beyond measure as I took in the mentally gory scene.
Zoe was straddling him, his hands entwined in her hair. My whole body trembled and I had to sag against the doorframe for support.
“This was meant to be a working place,” I started calmly, maintaining a placid expression. “What’s going on here?”
Nolan scoffed derisively as he eased Zoe into another seat. “Says the person who barged into her boss’s office without knocking!”
A shocked gasp tore out of my throat. “Boss? Nolan, you’re my husband. My Alpha mate for crying out loud, and I’m your Luna!” I choked, my voice a mix of pain and anger,
“I told you I don’t mix work with pleasure!” His tone was gruff. “At work, I’m your boss, your CEO! Nothing more!”
I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry and I spared Zoe a quick glance just in time to catch the wicked smirk on her face.
She was enjoying this! I felt my anger topple over, just almost over the brim. But I swallowed it back, pushing back the tears that were threatening to spill out.
“Nolan, I’m— you don’t mix work with pleasure yet I just caught you— I trailed off, unsure of how to put the word.

A menacing glint flashed in Nolan’s eyes. “Get out of my,office now!” He growled.
My eyes widened with surprise and I lost my cool as I pressed my lips into a savage line and yelled.
“You’re sending me out of your office for my sister? You must be kidding! I need a fucking explanation for what I saw you doing!”
