Chapter 12
“Ashley’s POV
I got on one knee and brushed to the side, a stray hair that was covering Brian’s eyes. He wasn’t even looking at me and yet all my attention was on him. He was getting bigger and with each inch that he grew, he looked more like his father. “Mummy won’t be long, okay?” I whispered to him softly, trying to keep myself in check. I was nervous as hell and I didn’t
want him to see that.
He looked up at me, his deep blue eyes peering into mine. “I know.” He said abruptly, before turning away to focus on his
toys.
I chuckled softly, aware of the fact that he didn’t know how much I loved him. I brushed his hair with my fingers and leaned to kiss him.
“Aunty Laura will take care of you while I’m gone, I’m taking Unde Xavier with me so it’ll be just you two… I promise you’ll be a good boy for her..”
“I will.” He said with a smile and then sped off to where Laura was standing. He hugged her leg, just like he did to me back in the office.
I stood on both feet and just as I did, I heard footsteps coming down the stairs. I lifted my eyes and saw Xavier. He was looking as handsome as ever in his sharp, well–tailored suit. His hair was combed back and his steps were deliberate
He had a wave of authority about him, which seemed both intimidating and comforting at the same time. I turned my head and noticed Laura staring intently at him. I turned my head back to Xavier and winked at him who obviously noticed the look in her eyes.
“Laura.” He greeted her much to my surprise, and just as he did, he quickly turned her eyes from him, pretending like she hadn’t been staring
“Good evening, Alpha Xavier.” She replied firmly, but one could easily tell that she was struggling.
He gave her a polite nod and then walked towards me.
“You look incredible,” I said to him immediately, wanting to be the first to compliment his looks. He smiled at me and touched my shoulder gently.
“I have to say the same about you” He said, smiling widely. But just then, he lowered his head and his voice. “Why is she here?” He asked, nodding his head toward Laura, who was busy with Brian.
“She’s the only one I trust.. besides, he likes her and wouldn’t be much of a problem to her. They get along really well” He took a quick glance at them one last time and then shrugged “So..“he continued, giving me a playful gaze.
“Are you ready?” He asked with excitement.
I hesitated for a moment before responding. “You know what? m not.” I admitted
He chuckled and then shook his head. “It’s not like we can change our minds now, we’re already dressed and well, she’s here,” he said gesturing with his head towards Laura
“So there’s no going back now.” He said firmly.
He was right after all, and it wasn’t like I was going to call it off for some odd reason, even though I had thought constantly about the possibility of staying back home.

Chapter 12
He had done everything for the past few years for me and I knew how important it was for him to get that rest of mind that the people who hurt me, had their retribution.”
“I knew you were going to say that,” I replied, giving him a small punch on his shoulder.
He smiled affectionately to me and without any further words, he pushed the door open and led me out The cool night breeze greeted me first with a soft caress on my face as we head to the car.
I got in and leaned back against the seat. Xavier got into the driver’s seat and shut the door. He switched on the heater and glanced at me.
“You can sleep, you know.” He said softly. “The drive to Sacred Moon pack is a long one, I wouldn’t want you looking all exhausted.”
I shook my head slowly, driving down iny intent. “And ruin the excitement? I don’t think so.”
He smiled proudly and started the engine. “I guess all is settled then.” He said as we moved out of the driveway.
We sped through the smooth roads and with each distance covered, it felt like small bits of air were being taken away from my lungs.
“You okay?” Xavier’s voice interrupted my not–so–busy thoughts I turned to look at him and sighed, adjusting myself on the
seal
What do you
think?” I replied.
It had been well over five years since I last saw him, since I left Sacred Moon pack, maybe the right word was chased out Five years was enough to push the thoughts and memories away but it was definitely not enough to make them disappear.
All I could think of was Nolan and how he was, if he was proud about what he did or if he had even the slightest bit of regret But every thought about me seemed to stir a certain hatred. I hated him for what he did that day, and I hated my sister the
same way.
But to think that he would send assassins to murder me, I guess would only feel better if I made them feel what they me feel all those years.
“You’re not saying anything.” Xavier’s voice echoed through again
“Don’t you know already?” I said to him, with a forced smile on my face.
He reached out with one of his hands and held mine.
“You know we’ve got this, right?” He asked in a calm tone. I turned my head and looked at him.
“I know,” I replied, feeling grateful that I had someone who would do anything for me. “I know.”
The rest of the drive was done in silence and as we got closer to Sacred Moon pack, I was beginning this see the familiar woods, one that held so many memories of the past and possibly the future.
