Chapter 15
“I how?” He asked, lowering his voice. I could see that he was getting more uncomfortable and I could see the tiny drops of wwent on his forehead.
“What I asked like I didn’t hear the question. The truth was that didn’t expect to see him like this. the way it happened. I though it would have been different and I would probably be rare prepared, but even right now, I could see what he was struggling, anggling to even look me in the eyes.
“How are you even alive?” He asked, taking one step closer. Xavier’s hand around my waist tightened and he drew me closer
to himsell
“Maintain your distance,” Navier said softly, gesturing with his hand for him to move back. Nolan ignored him and turned to
face me.
“Answer me, Ashley.” He said, his voice firm. I blinked rapidly and then took a deep breath. I knew what this was, he was getting desperate and was beginning to feel entitled.
The thought of him instructing me to do as he said, was something I never thought I would hear again and at that moment, all the hatred and anger I had stored inside me, came out.
“You don’t get to do that, Nolan, not anymore.” I shot back, pointing my finger at him. Someone was standing behind him and I recognized who it was, it was Nolan’s beta, Xander. He had a visible frown on his face, as though he was going to pounce on us at any moment.
“What?” Nolan replied, surprised at my reaction.
“I don’t see the need to explain anything to you, Nolan,” I said firmly, not showing any signs of fear.
“It’s Alpha Nolan.” Xander cut in suddenly, but Nolan turned around just then and whispered something to him. He kept his eye on us as he listened and in a short while, he was walking away.
“You’ve seen what you wanted to see, Alpha Nolan. You can leave now.” Xavier said to him quietly. His arm was still wrapped around my waist and he was as cool as a cucumber.
“I’m not done.” Nolan replied maliciously, staring at me with accusations in his eyes. He walked towards me but stopped when he got to a reasonable distance.
“You ran away.” He said, his voice low. “You disappeared without word. I thought you were dead, do you have any Idea what I went through trying to find you?”
I kept my eyes on him, watching as he ranted with emotion. But then I burst out laughing.
“I ran away?” I asked sarcastically, releasing myself from Xavier’s touch and took a few steps towards him
“You’re fuvking deluded, Nolan. You know that right?” I said to him in a low but firm whisper, not wanting to draw attention.
“You told me to leave, that you found the one you were looking for, the one you’ve had eyes on since before I even met you. You don’t have the right to accuse me of anything, I should be the one accusing you of being a coward,”
He let out a soft sigh and moved backward.
“Where’s my child, Ashley?” He asked gently. “You were pregnant when you left, and it’s been almost five years. Where’s the
child?*

Chapter 13
1 free for a moment, shocked at his audacity to ask me about anything. He has left me for dead and sent men after the to tirish the job and yet, here he was, trying to play the victim…. what a pussy
I opened my mouth to respond to him, but just then, Xavier stood in front of me. Blocking me from him.
Alright, that’s enough reunion for everyone” He cut in firmly, till maintaining his calm demeanor. But instead of Nolan doing as he asked, he stepped forward, standing face to face with Xavier.
“Back off,” he said dangerously, his eyes twitching.
You’ll back off now, Nolan” Xavier continued regardless. “You’ll back off or this will end badly for you. This is a neutral ground, so you are in no position to make demands.”
“I don’t care!” Nolan yelled suddenly, and just then everyone turned their heads towards us. The atmosphere was thick with tension now and I could feel my heart beating faster.
“She took my child and gave it to someone else, another man. Do you think I’m going to let that slide?” Nolan said again, yelling at the top of his voice.
“Don’t test me.” Xavier sailed, moving even closer to Nolan. His fists were now clenched and I could see his muscles Twitching
I looked around and saw the look on people’s faces. I could see Zoe now, standing just a few feet away from us. There was a visible look of shock on her face as if she had just seen a ghost. Iwalked towards Xavier and placed my hand on his shoulder.
“Let’s go.” I said to him softly, not willing for any of this to drag on. I was mad, angry even. But this didn’t feel like the right- place or the right time.
Just as Xavier turned around to look at me. Nolan moved quickly, going past Xavier, and was now standing in front of me.
“Where’s the child, Ashley!” He yelled at me, shaking me roughly. I pushed him off of me with all the strength I could muster, but his grip was firm.
“There is no child, Nolan!” I yelled back, still trying to get him to let me go. His face turned pale and he let me go slowly, but before he could create distance between us, a blow sent him flying across the room.
A unified gasp, echoed through the hall as they watched Alpha Nolan land roughly with his back. I turned my head to check for Incoming threats and there I spotted Xander, lunging towards Xavier, but he was caught mid–air by someone.
“Everybody calm down,” Aaron yelled. He let go of Xander anden moved towards where Alpha Nolan was to help him out.
I didn’t expect things to escalate this much, but the truth was that it couldn’t have gone much better. This was exactly how I thought it would be, but without the chaos and with the fact that now had everyone’s attention.
