I sat alone in my office, staring at the outside world through the luge glass behind my desk. It was busy down there. I was pretty sure that there wasn’t anyone who was having an absolute tinker of a day than the
Everything seemed to be going straight to hell so I couldn’t ever begin to figure out what was happening or what I was doing wrong. I took a deep breath and sipped from my glass. At this moment, only whisky could help me feel a little bit better.
“Fuck.” I muttered under my breath, the hundredth time I had said that out of pure frustration. How could she be so stupid? What was she thinking? Those were all the questions that were ruiming through my mind.
I had promised myself that I wasn’t going to flare up when I saw her, but I was beginning to lose trust in myself concerning

I winced again out of pure spite, and just as I was about to take another sip of whiskey from my glass, I heard the door open I didn’t need to turn around to see who it was, because I already did. I could sense that she hadn’t moved from the door and after a while, she stepped into the room, her heels clinking against the marble floor as she walked towards my desk.
“Nolan, darling?” She called softly from behind me. I smiled wryly, hating myself for being this calm, before turning around
To face her.
“What took you so long?” I asked softly, refusing to acknowledge her presence the way I would normally have done, but it didn’t seem to bother her because there was definitely a better topic to discuss than me complimenting how she looked
“Umm, I didn’t know how badly you wanted to see me, I would have come as soon as I got the message,” she said calmly. almost like she wasn’t even aware of what was going on.
I rolled my eyes at the audacity she had to say that, how the hell wouldn’t she know about what was going on… the company was in chaos because of her and here she was here all dressed upand acting like a moron
“Calm down, Nolan,” I whispered to myself. I lifted my eyes and looked at her again. “Sit down.” I instructed her. I took a few steps toward my desk and sat down.
“Tll ask you again, Zoe, what took you so long?”
She let out a small smile and I was almost losing my mind, but kept my cool.
“I won’t lie, Nolan. I just got to the office, after the time we spent last night, I was so tired that I couldn’t-
“Are you freaking serious, Zoe?” I asked sharply, rising from my chair and slamming my fist on the table, sending a loud thud through the room.

“I asked again while staring at her with maximum disgust.
My decision to give her a stake in the company and placing her in such an important department was something I was already regretting, but seeing her sit in front of me and pretend that she didn’t know what was going on, made me think that I wasn’t even beating myself up enough.
I was staring at her with wide eyes of anger and I could clearly see that she was frightened.
“Tell me you don’t know what’s going on, Zoe,” I said to her firmly, lowering my voice by just a little.
She opened her mouth to speak but hesitated. I rolled my eyes in frustration and sat back down, waiting for her to explain.
“I’m sorry, Nolan,” she said softly, refusing to meet my eyes. I was still silent, expecting her to continue, but it seemed like
she was done.

I picked up the remote froumy table and turned on the television. It was already noon, but every station was stu
about what was now the hottest topic in the city, my fall from price! Because I thought I could take advantage of the people to get more wealth for myself. What in the actual heck?
I felt like smashing the new television just like the other one, but something in me didn’t let it.
“It’s all a misunderstanding, I can explain and I can assure you that I’ll fix things and it won’t be a topic anymore.” She said, trying to negotiate.
I picked up my tablet from my desk and brought up an image before pushing it towards her to see.
“How can you fix this?” I asked her, hoping for a genuine answer in less than six hours, we had lost close to a billion dollars and yet, here she was saying she was going to fix it.
“How are you going to fix this, Zoe?” I asked her again, demanding a reply, but she just stood there like a statue, with tears falling from her eyes.
“Shit.” I muttered, disgusted at the sight of it. I got up from my chair and walked back to where I was before she came in.
“Leave, Zoe,” I ordered, without turning to look at her.
“Nolan, i-
“Get the fuck out, Zoe, before I do something stupid!” I yelled, turning around to show her just how mad I was. But she stood firm, not moving from her position. I sighed deeply and ran my fingers through my hair. How could I have been this clueless?, why couldn’t I see just how dumb she really was?
But before I could answer those questions, she sprinted towards me and hugged me, wrapping her arms around me tightly
“I’m sorry.” She said in muffled sounds and a breaking tone. “Tm sorry Nolan.” She repeated. I grabbed her arms and pulled her away from me. Her hair was messy now and wet with tears while covering most part of her face.
“Leave, Zoe,” I said softly, pushing her further away from me.
