*Xavier’s POV*
“You don’t mean that.” She said, trying to smile but it was a terrible effort. I looked away without too much interes
“I’m a man of my word, remember?”
She took a deep breath and winced at me, before grabbing her fork again. She was starting to lighten up and it was obvious that she was beginning to get her mind off of what happened, even if it was only just for a while.
“Come on, tell me. I really want to know.”
“Why?”
She shrugged. “Well, for one thing, you weren’t always easy. As much as I wouldn’t want to admit it, especially because I’m here asking for your help and how proud I am. I think you kinda knew that I was trying to get your attention, you didn’t just want mine.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” I lied. It was almost impossible not to be aware when someone like her was making advances, especially when she was so vocal about it. She shrugged again and took another bite from her plate.
“I just want to know how she did it,” Zoe said. “Maybe it was you who tried to get her attention and somehow succeeded because she is one stubborn one and probably was trying to get back at me.”
“Why would you say that?” I asked just for the show.
“Nolan didn’t want her anymore, and somehow I became part of that equation and I knew it hurt her, to see that he had eyes for me, it’s just that I couldn’t do anything to avoid all of it.”
“And why is that?” I asked once again.
She pursed her lips and looked at me suspiciously.
“I was in a bad place and somehow, Nolan showed up and helped me through it. I didn’t know he liked me like that, and it took a while before I started feeling something for him.”
I was silent, my eyes firmly on her, scanning through all of her expressions and trying to understand how easy it was for her to Tie.
“What I’m saying is, shit happened and Nolan didn’t want Ashley anymore. I tried to talk to her but she left, I wanted to apologize but she wasn’t having any of it. She went into the woods, that’s why everyone thought she was dead. And now my best guess is that she got together with you so you could help her get back at me, and maybe Nolan. I chuckled softly and soon after, it turned into a short laugh.
“I don’t think Ashley is that shallow, she just wants a happy life.” Yeah, a happy life with your at the bottom, regretting everything you ever did and having no one to come to your aid.
She smiled wryly, without believing what I just said, but it didn’t matter. I was beginning to get bored and all I could think of was Brian and his mother. I wasn’t usually this far from the pack, but the plan was in motion after all.
“You don’t like her as much, do you?” She asked with a mocking smile on her face.
“You wanna know why I think so? It’s the way you look at me. You still look at me the same way you used to. Like you want something but you don’t want to ask because you’re so perfect.”

I almost burst out laughing, but I held it in. I was slightly irritated as well, but all of that didn’t matter. She still fight highly of herself and that was actually one of the things I needed from her.
“Well, it seems you’re all cheered up already, maybe we can talk about why we’re really here.”
She frowned a little and then sat upright. “Okay.” She said softly, keeping her eyes on me
“So tell me. What’s Nolan’s thought about everything?” I began, wasting no time to ask all of the right questions
“He’s really mad at me. I think he’s going to do something crazy but he’d probably start by kicking me out of the company first.”
“That won’t be too bad, don’t you think?” I asked with a knowing smile on my lips, but she didn’t find any of what I said funny.
“Why would you say that?” She asked, still frowning.
“I always try to be honest, Zoe. What’s the worst that can happen? It’s him kicking you out of the company, at least you’ll still be his mate and Luna.”
She groaned softly, adjusted herself in the chair, and tried not to look into my eyes. I wasn’t trying to rile her up anymore, ! just wanted an honest reaction from her, something to make her think that she was in control.
“I don’t want that. I don’t want to leave the company. If I wanted to do that I wouldn’t meet up with you.

I smiled slightly and pushed my chair forward. “So what do you suggest?” I asked calmly, looking straight into her eyes, even though she was trying her best to look away. I still had my charms and even though I hadn’t used them tonight, she still couldn’t help it.
“I don’t know, Xavier. Maybe that’s why you’re here because I want to you to help me….I desperately need your help.
“I have something in mind,” I whispered softly.
She pushed her chair forward quickly, her eyes fixed on me like an excited child waiting for candy.
“What are you thinking?” She asked sharply.
I let out a small smile and blinked my eyes slowly.
“My best guess is that Nolan is currently taking all of your shares in the company, possibly buying up all the others too“.
“What are you saying, Xavier?” She asked in a low whisper.
“I need the TechCorp, Zoe. Help me with the necessary documents, talk to the other shareholders, tell them you’re trying to fix up the mess, and ask them to sell their shares. Threaten them if you have to.”
“And why would I do that?”
“Because you’re going to sell them to me, Zoe. You’re going to sell everything to me and I fix it for you. There’s no other way.”
