Chapter 35
*Ashley’s POV
We sat down for the next couple of minutes, talking about the plan and predicting what their decisions were going to be. I knew Nolan to an extent and I could predict what his reaction would be, especially when it came to something as serious as this. He was a man of pride and as much as he wouldn’t admit that he responded mostly with his emotions, that was the truth.
Zoe, on the other hand, was unpredictable. To me, she was just someone who couldn’t stay true to her words, she played dirty and was not to be trusted, but Xavier felt like he knew exactly who she was why she wanted, and that he could handle her without even breaking a sweat.
Xavier seemed serious, and I was beginning to think that he was taking everything more seriously than I was. I couldn’t blame him for how he felt, he had spent almost all his life looking for me and it was only right that he would do what he was doing now, but I couldn’t lie when I felt like he was supposed to take other things seriously.
He had left almost everything concerning his pack to his Beta, Ethan. Ethan wasn’t that bad, he was calm–headed and never rushed when making decisions, but I preferred that Xavier had his attention both on me and the pack, but that wasn’t the case at the moment,
I couldn’t dispute the fact that he trusted Ethan and I didn’t want to create a problem where there was none, but amidst everything that we were doing, something somewhere didn’t feel right.
“You came in just as Laura stepped out, you must have seen her,” I said suddenly, changing the topic.
He lifted his head up from the document in front of him and stared at me, but just when I expected him to say something, he didn’t.
“You should talk to her, you know,” I added quietly, looking away from his gaze. There was a small awkward smile on his face and it was obvious that he wasn’t planning on taking any of my words about this topic seriously.
“Why aren’t you saying anything?” I asked him, frustrated that he wouldn’t say anything.
He took a deep breath and ran his fingers through his hair, “I thought we already talked about this?” He asked, frowning a little.
I couldn’t tell if he had something for Laura just like how she did for him, but I had seen him a couple of times, stealing a glance at her when she wasn’t looking.
It was hard to know what he liked, he was at the same time, mysterious and obvious, offering a perfect mixture of both. But
you the obvious. only on occasions would he show
“Well, you didn’t say anything reasonable. Only that you are completely focused on me, Brian, and fuvking Nolan and all that concerns him up, you didn’t say anything about yourself.”
“Whatever makes you happy, makes me happy, Ashley, that shouldn’t be news to you.”
“Then asking Laura out will make me happy,” I said sharply. His lips curved into an embarrassing smile and he shut his eyes, probably regretting what he just said.
“You know what I meant when I said that… Please don’t.”
“You should know what I mean as well, Xavier.” I cut In, not wanting him to feel like he could escape from this, not even for a bit.
Xavier opened his eyes and finally met my eyes again. “If that is what you want, I don’t think I have a choice.” He said softly, turning his attention back to the file.

“What?” I asked, pretending pot to understand what he just said.
“She’s not bad, Ashley. I’ll talk to her.” He said quietly, his eyes stal plugged into the document.
I sighed in relief, thankful that he finally listened to me. “That’s perfect, I already made arrangements for the two of you, I’ll give her the rest of the day and if you don’t like it, you can take her wherever you want.” I said to him excitedly.
He looked at me with a surprised look, tilting his head a little.
“But only if you have the plans for today, I wouldn’t want to make either of you uncomfortable.” I quickly added, drawing the line by myself.
Xavier chuckled softly before covering the document.
“I think we’re ready.” He said, “Nolan will make his decision in a few days; if everything goes as we plan, he’ll probably make the announcement tomorrow, he hates being seen as weak, and that exactly is his weakness.” Xavier said confidently, getting up from his seat.
“And how do you know that?” I asked him, “It’s almost as if you know something that I don’t, brother.”
“I told you that we can’t loosen our grip now, Ashley. We have to be perfect for this to go just as we want it, and I’m making sure of that
I nodded, confident in his decisions and connections.
“There’s something else I need to tell you,” I said to him, suddenly remembering what I planned on telling him.
“I’ll be moving to the Sacred Moon pack as soon as we’re done. I know we’ll be in charge of his company soon and mine as well, I just thought I’d let you know. It’s permanent.”
“I know.” He said softly, staring at me with pride in his eyes.
“I’ll be taking Brian as well, you know he can’t do without me, at least not for long.”
His face changed almost instantly and I knew that he wasn’t going to buy into that Idea.
“He’ll know, you’re aware of that right?” He said, surprisingly calm, referring to Nolan. I nodded slowly, playing with the pep
in my
hand. I remembered Nolan’s threat back at the hall just a few months back and also the look of determination in his
eyes.
“I know,” I whispered quietly. Everything about me now seemed like a plan, but I had the urge to do something
spontaneous, something that didn’t feel routine. Something that would make him feel like he was in control and had me against the wall.
