Chapter 49
Chapter 49
*Nolan’s POV
I stood still, staring at the image in front of me. Ashley was sitting in my chair–my chair–her legs crossed in the most elegant manner and there was a cold and mischievous smile playing on her lips.

I turned my head and saw that Alpha Xavier was there too, leaning casually against the desk. His posture was confident. The two of them didn’t look out of place. Instead, they looked like they belonged there, but the truth was that they didn’t…not in my fuvking office.
What the hell is this?” I growled, taking a step forward, but just before I could get any closer, security guards stepped in Tont of me, blocking my way. I frowned and was about to snap their necks, but Xavier’s voice echoed through the room, saving them from their deaths.
“Let him though.” He said to them, his voice smooth with order. They stepped aside, following his instruction. I winced dryly and turned my attention back to them.
“What the heck is this?” I asked again, expecting them to answer my question. Xavier looked at me, a smirk playing across his lips.
“We’ve been waiting for you, Alpha Nolan.”
I rushed towards the desk in anger, my eyes moving dangerously between him and Ashley, but they didn’t seem bothered by my rage. I could hear my heart still pounding in my chest.
“What the hell is going on here?” I asked for the third time and desperately this time. “Why are you in my office?.”
Xavier let out a mocking laugh. “Why the hell do you keep asking the same question? You know quite well what is going on. Don’t play dumb”
I frowned even more and turned around sharply and saw that Lisa was standing by the door, her face pale and confused.
“Lisa,” I called out her name. “Check every detail, I need to know why these two are in my office, acting like they fuvking. own the place.”
She nodded and began fumbling with the iPad. I turned my eyes back to Ashley and Xavier who still had their eyes on me. Ashley looked beautiful, more beautiful than when I last saw her, but that wasn’t my problem now.
I turned around and saw Lisa still checking, her hand shaking as she did.
After what took like an eternity, Lisa finally looked up and met my eyes. The look in her eyes was something that I could understand even without her saying a word but I needed her to say something.
“Everything has been handed over to the Mira Group.” She muttered under her breath, her eyes fixed firmly on me. “What?” I blinked rapidly, my brain trying to catch up. “What do you mean handed over? I didn’t authorize anything.” She swallowed hard and looked down at the device again. “They own it now and with what I see here, it seems like you did hand it over to them… your signature is here for the authorization.” She continued, even though I had heard enough.
“And they must be the ones behind the Mira Group.” She added.
I frowned and turned towards her grabbing the iPad from her hands and scanning through the screen. Everything was here, the signatures, the transfer. Everything seemed legitimate, and I had no idea how or when.
I handed it back to her and turned to Ashley and Xavier, pointing my finger at them. “If this is some kind of sick joke, you

better stop it now.” I hissed.

Ashley leaned back in my chair, not bothered about how mad I looked or sounded. “Does this look like a joke to you, Nolan?” She asked, her familiar voice echoing through the room.
She sounded more confident and dangerous than I could remember and I knew that this wasn’t a joke and it was all real.
“We are the new owners of this company. And we are going to succeed where you failed.” She said firmly, smiling at me.
“You want me to explain, Nolan, I will,” Xavier said, sitting upright.
“You see, all of this was pretty easy, to be honest. And I didn’t have to do an awful lot. I’ll start from somewhere you can Ainderstand.”
I took a deep breath and listened for what he was going to say.
“You see you did a pretty shitty job by allowing someone who cares only about herself to handle things about other people. That was your
first mistake.”
“Where is this going?” I asked impatiently, tired of playing games.
“Calm down will you?” Xavier teased, he was obviously enjoying this.
“I then made an attempt to help you….you know, out of my goodwill. I made an offer to your company, I was going to invest over two billion dollars, but you didn’t take it, and trust me, I knew you weren’t going to.”
“What?” I asked, confused about what he was talking about.
“But I know why you refused that offer, because you felt like it was an obvious trap which of course it was. But avoiding that, you got into another. The marketing firm that bailed out on you just a few days ago was Ashley’s. The Mira Group, does it ring any bell?”
I stood there, speechless. Of course, it rang a bell and I was too stupid to listen.
“Getting your board members and shareholders to sell wasn’t too much work, someone did all the work and she did a really good job.”
I turned to look at Lisa and she shook her head. “Who did it?” I asked, turning my head back to face Xavier.
I can say
that
He smiled and stood up from where he was sitting. “You still want me to do everything for you? Are you that lazy?… Come on, you can do it. Figure it out.” He urged me mockingly, tapping my shoulder playfully.
I kept my eyes on him, and the only thing that I could do was frown.
“Alright, I’ll help you.” He said after a couple of seconds. “It was Zoe, your amazing mate.” He blurted out with a satisfied smile.
I felt my knees go weak and all I wanted to do was hope that all of this was just a nightmare.
“You see.” Xavier continued.
“Technically, we didn’t steal from you. You offered your company to us, exactly how we wanted it to happen.” Xavier added.
I looked away from him and turned to Ashley who had her eyes on us as we talked. Our eyes met and she didn’t blink for a second. There was a look of defiance, almost like she wasn’t done with me yet.
“Why are you doing this?” I asked softly, realizing that that was probably the only reasonable question left to ask.
