Chapter 21
The GlobCom Tech team was quite solid. In recent years, many young entrepreneurial teams aimed for financing rather than the long-term development of the company.
Lenora didn’t like such teams; she was essentially a businesswoman and naturally hoped to gain the maximum profit in investing instead of seeing her money going down the drain without even a splash.
She had already reviewed the proposal. The one in her hand was largely similar to the one she saw earlier, with only minor modifications made to some details.
She remained silent, making Donald a bit uneasy. “Ms. Samantha, I have great confidence in both our product and our team. The original purpose of developing this app was to provide higher protection for society. With the increasing number of public harassment incidents in recent years, I believe this app will become more commonly used. Being the only and first open team, we are confident that we won’t be replaced.”
Finishing, Donald realized he was a bit too impatient.
In negotiations, the biggest taboo was being impatient. But he couldn’t help it; they’d been waiting for responses to their business proposals for a long time, and recently, many investment banks had contacted them, but most of them had gone silent after initial meetings.
The domestic software development market was no longer what it used to be, and the internet market, which always emphasized novelty and speed, meant that what they could think of, others could too.
They’d already developed the app, but bringing it to market required funds for later operations, maintenance, and even promotional costs. In short, it was impossible to get anywhere without money, and Samantha was literally their last lifeline, so he couldn’t possibly not be in a hurry.
Finally, Donald threw caution to the wind, took a sip of lemonade, and said, “Ms. Samantha, we can offer fifteen percent of
our shares.
Lenora closed the proposal and raised an eyebrow slightly. “150 thousand dollars, fifteen percent of the shares, and a veto right. If Mr. Buckley finds that acceptable, I’ll have my secretary arrange the relevant procedures with you tomorrow.”
She paused for a second before adding, “However, there’s one point. The money is being invested in your company under my name, not MorningMyst Group.”
Upon hearing this, Donald frowned, asking, “Can I discuss this with the other shareholders?”
150 thousand dollars was a bit lower than what Donald had expected, but it was still within an acceptable range. However, this investment didn’t come from MorningMyst Group, which represented a significant gap for them.
Lenora had anticipated this. She smiled. “Of course. If you’ve made up your mind, just call Lillian.”
“Alright, thank you for coming over, Ms. Samantha.”
Lenora raised an eyebrow, shifting the topic. “I have high hopes for you, and I hope we have the opportunity to collaborate.”
“I will definitely consider it carefully.”
I was getting late, and Donald suggested having dinner together
Lenora thought of Anthony back at home and politely declined.
“Then I won’t keep you, Donald said.
Lenora nodded, and the two parted ways at the entrance of the gate.

After parting ways with Donald, Lenora first drove to a mall, bought two steaks, planning to make do with them for dinner tonight.
When she returned home, it was already getting a bit dark.
She parked her car in the garage, ordering, “Leslie, boil some water, thanks.”
Before she finished speaking, the robot’s voice sounded. “Ma’am, there’s already boiled water.”
Lenora paused, remembering there was still Anthony at her place. “Okay, got it.”
As she was halfway up the stairs, she smelled the aroma of the food, and her stomach grumbled in perfect timing.
She suspected she was hallucinating from hunger. But when she reached the second floor, she realized it wasn’t just a hallucination.
“I made dinner,” Anthony suddenly uttered.
He was holding a spatula in an apron, and the pan was sizzling inside the semi-open kitchen.
Lenora was a bit surprised. “You can cook?”
“Yep,” Anthony responded.
Lenora watched his back and chuckled softly, “My, he really is a good homemaker.”
She stood for a moment, then turned away and went up to the third floor, changing into a loose T-shirt and cotton pants before heading downstairs.
Anthony had already prepared the meal and was standing at the dining table, serving soup.
Lenora went to the kitchen to wash her hands and then approached the table, where she saw a full table of dishes. She glanced at the young man across from her and praised, “You are a good cook.”
“Practice makes perfect.” Anthony seemed uninterested in conversation, and Lenora wasn’t Cassidy, so she merely smiled and stopped talking.
She was right. Anthony was indeed a good cook, and Lenora, not usually skilled in the kitchen, couldn’t help but feel a bit
envious.
Satisfied and full, she unexpectedly felt a sisterly concern for Anthony. “You just turned eighteen this year, right?”
“Yep.”
“Aren’t you supposed to be in school at this age?”
“Cassidy said we’ll sign the contract first and then help me enroll here.”
“Okay,” Lenora responded, took a sip of soup, and asked, “Your family are that?”
ay with
Anthony’s expression immediately turned cold.
Lenora shrugged, finishing the last mouthful of soup in her bowl. “I’ll do the dishes.”
“Let me. Anthony was already standing up.
Lenora retracted her hand and didn’t insist.
Anthony went to wash the dishes while she cut the cantaloupe she had just bought, brought it to the living room, and turned

on the TV, savoring her post-meal fruit.
Anthony quickly finished doing the dishes and came out. Lenora pointed to the fruit on the table. “It’s sweet.”
“Okay.”
‘Oh my, he speaks so little. So young, yet already acting like a little old man, Lenora complained inwardly.
She gave him a glance. “I’m going to my room to take care of some things. Call me if you need anything.”
“Okay.”
Another “okay.” Lenora raised her eyebrows, not expecting him to say anything else, and turned to head upstairs.
However, until she fell asleep, Anthony never came to her.

A fairly pleasant day came to an end, and just before it did, Lenora sat on her bed, recalling what Harley had said at noon, and her mood took a slight dip.
She got up to open a bottle of red wine, drinking half a glass to help her sleep.
As she hoped, the night passed without a single disturbance.
As soon as she woke up early the next morning, Lenora found her head aching from a series of calls from Cassidy.
She held the phone while massaging her temples. “If I’m not mistaken, it’s only a quarter past seven now.”
“I didn’t mean it, Nora, there’s a reason!”
“What’s the matter?” Lenora frowned.
“Actually, nothing much. It’s just that you’re trending on Twitter again… but it’s not quite positive this time.”
Hearing this, Lenora knew better than to expect Cassidy to explain clearly. “Alright, I’ll check it myself. Bye.”
“Call me right after you’ve seen it. Tell me how to handle it! This situation can’t be left unresolved; the heat just keeps rising, which is not good for us.”
“Got it.” Lenora’s voice sounded a bit impatient.
With that, she ended the call and opened Twitter.
After understanding the whole story, Lenora couldn’t help but chuckle, tossing her phone onto the bed and heading into the bathroom to wash up.
It was not a big deal.
