Chapter 31
Lenora slept until past ten o’clock the next morning, her alarm clock having been turned off. She had indulged in her sleep.
The alcohol from the previous night was still affecting her today leaving her with a bit of a hangover and feeling somewhat dizzy as she got out of bed in a bad mood.
Lillian, true to her reputation as Lenora’s top-notch secretary, had calculated that Lenora would be waking up around this time. Right after Lenora finished freshening up, Lillian’s call came through.
“What is it?” Lenora asked, not in the best of moods, but she wasn’t one to vent her anger on her subordinates, so her tone remained normal.
Still, Lillian was very cautious. “Ms. Maynard, people from the Zenith Group would like to meet with you.”
“Let them wish,” Lenora replied curtly.
With those words, Lillian sensed Lenora’s foul mood. She knew when to back off. “Alright, I won’t disturb you any further.” “Mhm,” Lenora responded with a grunt and hung up the phone, then went downstairs to make meatballs for breakfast.
Meanwhile, at the office of Zhenith Group’s CEO, Devon was in high spirits today, recalling how Harley had been put in his place yesterday. Remembering Harley’s warning, he had instructed his secretary early in the morning to contact the enigmatic Samantha of MorningMyst Group.
However, just now, his secretary had cautiously informed him that Samantha had declined the meeting.
Devon was speechless. In all his years, he had never encountered anyone so arrogant. He speculated that Samantha must be a foreigner, unfamiliar with the etiquette of doing business in Rirann.
Although frustrated, thinking along these lines, Devon forgave the ungrateful Samantha reluctantly.
Yet, Devon was curious about this legendary Samantha. So, upon hearing that MorningMyst Group was making moves and that Samantha would attend the board meeting, Devon did something rather silly-he staked out their office building.
It was indeed absurd for the CEO of Zhenith Group to loiter outside another company’s headquarters waiting for their chairman.
Not wanting to be bored alone, Devon decided to prank-call Harley.
Harley, just coming out of a meeting, saw Devon’s call and immediately hung up.
But Devon kept calling, and once Harley picked up, Devon didn’t give him a chance to get angry. “Harley, guess where I am?”
“Devon, aren’t you bored?”
Ignoring Harley’s comment, Devon continued, “I’m at MorningMyst Group. They’re having a board meeting today, and I don’t believe I can’t catch Samantha even by waiting right at their doorstep.”
Harley smirked derisively. “You’re really that bored, huh?”
Before Harley could finish, Devon suddenly let out an expletive, “Shit! My eyes aren’t failing me, are they? Is that Lenora?”
Hearing the name “Lenora”, Harley’s expression changed, and he almost hung up but decided against it. “What about her?”
“Beep, beep…”

Chapter 31
‘Devon, you really are apiece of work!’ thought Harley,
Seeing Lenora, Devon immediately hung up and got out of his car to approach her. “Ms. Maynard, what a pleasant surprise. I’ve heard so much about you, Samantha.”
‘So Lenora is Samantha; no wonder she has irritated me by giving the right of ‘Dream Lover’ to Galaxy Studio: Devon
thought he had uncovered the truth, but Lenora looked at him as if he were a fool.
She said, “Mr. Valentine, what nonsense are you talking about?”
Devon’s smile froze. “Aren’t you Samantha? Chairman of MorningMyst Group, quite the secret keeper!”
His tone was sarcastic, but Lenora’s expression didn’t change in the slightest. “If you think so, there’s nothing I can do about it.”
Lenora’s demeanor was incredibly calm and collected, showing no sign of embarrassment at being exposed. In fact, there was even a hint of amusement in her eyes as she looked at him.
Devon was baffled. “If you’re not Samantha, why are you here at MorningMyst Group’s senior management meeting?”
Lenora smirked. “Oh, you mean MorningMyst Group? Surely you know what kind of company it is, don’t you?”
Devon felt Lenora’s disdain. “You mean… you’re here to pitch investment to MorningMyst Group?”
Lenora raised her eyebrows. “Is that not allowed?”
Well, yes, it is.” Devon felt utterly foolish for making such a big joke out of it.
Eager to save face, he cleared his throat. “Ahem, so did you meet Samantha?”
Lenora nodded. “Yes, I have. You wanna meet her too?”
Devon gritted his teeth. “Yes, I need to see what makes this Samantha so elusive; I’ve tried several times without success.”
Lenora thought for a moment and looked at Devon earnestly. “She’s quite beautiful and nice, but she has one flaw-she’s only into hot guys. Maybe she hasn’t agreed to meet you because… well, you just might not be her type.”
‘What’s going on? Why is Lenora acting so high and mighty after her divorce from Harley?’ Devon was taken aback.
Before he could think of a comeback, Lenora spoke up first. “I’ve got things to do, so I’ll be off. By the way, Samantha hasn’t left yet. You might just get lucky and catch her if you stick around.”
Devon was genuinely curious about “Samantha” now. He didn’t even care about Lenora calling him ugly anymore; there was no way he was leaving without finding out more about her.
“Alright, you go ahead. Thanks,” said Devon
Lenora didn’t hesitate to reply, “No problem.” With that, she walked over to her car not far away
Lillian followed closely, trying to hold in her laught
until she was almost in pain
Once they got into the car, Lillian couldn’t hold it in any longer and burst out laughing.
Lenora glanced at her and chuckled too.
But Lillian quickly returned to her composed self, her usual cool demeanor taking over. “Ms. Maynard, do you think it’s alright to trick him like that?”
Lenora raised her eyebrows. “If he fell for it, that’s on him for being dim-witted.”
