Matthew watched Lenora’s car as it disappeared, standing in front of the gradually closing villa gate. He glanced up at the piano on the truck, unsure of what to do. He had considered this outcome, but it still left him at a loss. 

Just then, his phone buzzed. It was bad news–Clara had returned “Beloved“. 

One of the workers waiting nearby asked, “What should we do?” 

What should we do? We can’t force the piano into the house,‘ thought Matthew. 

“Just take the piano back to the villa.” With that, he turned to get into the car. 

Twenty minutes later, the truck was parked in the garage of the Telford Enterprise building. 

Matthew took the elevator up to Harley’s office and bumped into Harley, who had just come out of a meeting. 

Harley seemed in a good mood. “What did she say?” 

Matthew knew exactly who “she” was. He took a deep breath and replied, “Ms. Maynard said she refused the delivery.” 

As soon as Matthew finished speaking, Harley’s face turned cold. “Refused?” 

“Right 

Harley recalled how Lenora had rejected him directly that night. It felt like a slap in the face. His mood soured as he shot a cold glance at Matthew and headed into his office. 

“Mr. Brandt, there’s one more thing-” Matthew could see that Harley was not in a good mood, and it wasn’t his intention to bring up the matter with Verdant Sources at this moment. However, he had to say it sooner or later. 

“Just say it!” Harley stopped and turned, glaring at him coldly. 

A chill ran down Matthew’s spine as he lowered his head, dared not to meet Harley’s gaze. “Mrs. Parsons‘ secretary called me just now; Mrs. Parsons has returned the piano.” 

“What’s going on?” 

Matthew felt the pressure of Harley’s gaze. “I’m not sure yet.” He paused for a moment. “But from what Mrs. Parsons‘ secretary said, it seems Mrs. Parsons may have already given the shares to someone else.” 

It was a total loss. Harley’s expression darkened further. What had seemed like a sure win was now slipping away. 

He felt played, but in business, deals fell through all the time, and he couldn’t blame Clara. 

Yet, he sensed there was more to this situation. “Find out who Clara transferred the shares to.” 

“Yes, Mr. Brandt. I’ll check right away!” Finally, Matthew had an excuse to escape 

and promptly 

left. 

Clara kept her cards close to her chest until the last moment, allowing news to leak only then.

By the time Matthew found out that Clara had transferred the shares to MorningMyst Group, Verdant Sources’s official website had already updated its list of chairpersons, beating the official announcement by just two hours. 

“MorningMyst Group?” Several days had passed since the event, and Harley’s anger had somewhat subsided. Still, upon hearing “MorningMyst Group“, he frowned instinctively. 

He remembered how Devon had been outmaneuvered by MorningMyst Group before, and now Samantha from

MorningMyst Group had poached from under his nose. 

Harley had never been particularly interested in the person behind MorningMyst Group, but now, he wanted to know who this enigmatic figure was. 

“Who is Samantha?” 

Matthew shook his head. “Almost no one in the industry knows her true identity.” 

Harley let out a cold laugh. “Then find out who she really is.” 

Matthew could only nod. “Okay.” As Harley’s secretary, he had no choice but to comply. 

After Verdant Sources’s website update, the business circles of Hobart City were abuzz. 

Having acquired Clara’s shares, Lenora was in an exceptionally good mood these past few days, which certainly helped her sleep better at night. 

When the news of the change in Verdant Sources’s chairmanship was announced, she was visiting Cassidy on set. 

Ever since learning Lenora was the behind–the–scenes boss of Ormonde Entertainment, even the director treated her with utmost respect whenever she visited the set. 

Ormonde Entertainment had invested in two movies this year, splashing out tens of millions of dollars each time. Nowadays, everyone in the film industry would want Ormonde Entertainment’s investment. 

During a break, Cassidy, weighed down by several pounds of headgear, walked over to Lenora. “You must be feeling pretty smug, any idea how much your assets are now?” 

Lenora raised her eyebrows. “I haven’t done the math in detail; it’s too much, and I don’t want to waste Lillian’s time.” 

Cassidy gritted her teeth at her comment. “How did you manage to change Clara’s mind?” 

Lenora was quite candid. “To be honest, I was quite flattered myself.” 

Cassidy scoffed. “Spill the beans–did you seduce Clara’s son?” 

Lenora shot her a glance. “Her son is only eighteen.” 

“Just a gap of seven or eight years, not unthinkable,” said Cassidy 

Lenora laughed it off and handed her something. “Dashnell asked me to bring this to you. I’m heading out.” 

She wouldn’t normally visit the set unless she had a reason, and she wasn’t there just to pass the time. 

It was because Future Tech went public in Marizieu yesterday, and as one of the major shareholders with equal shares to Dashnell, Lenora didn’t want to show up but still graciously attended the event. 

Dashnell would have to entertain there for another day or two, so Lenora came back alone and brought the bag that Cassidy had wanted. 

Clara was leaving the country next week and probably wouldn’t return for a while. Before leaving, she wanted to have dinner with Lenora. 

If it had been anyone else, Lenora wouldn’t have agreed. She didn’t like socializing, which was why she hadn’t made many appearances, but Clara was different. 

After leaving the set, Lenora drove directly to the restaurant where she had agreed to meet Clara. When she arrived, someone was already at the table.

Lenora thought she might have the wrong table and hesitated. “Excuse me, is this table number 17?” 

The guy playing on his phone looked up impatiently, but when his eyes fell on Lenora, there was a clear flash of surprise in his eyes. “Are you Samantha?” 

‘Interesting.‘ Lenora smiled and took a seat. “Are you Mrs. Parsons‘ son?” 

“Hello, I’m Doug Parsons.” Doug put his phone down, his attitude completely changing. 

At that moment, Clara emerged from the restroom. “Ms. Maynard, sorry. I just went to the restroom.” 

Lenora smiled. “No problem. I just got here myself.” 

Clara sat down next to her son. “Ms. Maynard, sorry about that. This is my son, Doug. I brought him to ask you for a favor.” 

Lenora smiled. “What can I do for you?” 

Clara was very straightforward. “As you know, I’m emigrating, and I won’t be coming back often. Doug’s father got his custody, but now that he’s of age, he told me he wants to enter show business. I know you own Ormonde Entertainment, so I thought I’d bring him to see if you’d consider signing him.” 

As she spoke, Clara poured coffee for Lenora. “You don’t need to coddle him. He’ll get what he deserves based on his abilities. I trust you, and I believe that if Doug is with your company, I won’t have to worry.” 

As soon as Clara finished speaking, Doug sitting beside her straightened up, looking at Lenora with a mix of anticipation and anxiety. 

This matter wasn’t as simple as signing Doug; if anything happened later, it would all come back to Lenora. 

Lenora wasn’t one for complications. After a few seconds, she made her decision. “Mrs. Parsons, I understand your intentions, but I’m not one to invite trouble. I’m afraid this won’t work out.” 

Clara seemed to have anticipated this. “You’re overthinking it. I just want him to be at the company. He’s an adult now; he’ll have to take responsibility for his choices.” 

“Of course, I understand your concerns, so I brought an agreement. This way, whatever happens with Doug won’t involve you. As compensation, I’ll ensure that all his earnings and endorsements for three years go to your company.” 

Clara was prepared, and Lenora knew she couldn’t pass up an opportunity like that. Three years was neither too long nor too short, and signing a newcomer with no cost was a good deal. 

“Since you’re being so straightforward, I won’t refuse,” Lenora said, accepting the contract. After signing, she looked at Doug. “Mr. Parsons, I’ll have my agent contact you shortly.” 

“Just call me Doug.” Doug didn’t seem upset at all. 

Lenora raised an eyebrow. “Then you can call me Lenora. Not many in Hobart City know me as Samantha.” 

“Okay, Lenora.” 

Lenora never imagined that having dinner with Clara would end up with her signing her son to her entertainment company. ‘Cassidy just mentioned Clara’s son; what a coincidence.’
