Chapter 36
As Lenora was saying goodbye to Clara and the others, they unexpectedly ran into Harley.
Harley was dressed in a sleek black suit, and his usually cold expression showed a hint of surprise when he spotted them. “Hi, Mrs. Parsons.”
He lingered on Clara’s face for just a second before his gaze shifted to Lenora. His expression turned icy as he regarded her.
Lenora met his eyes briefly but quickly looked down, avoiding his stare. She turned to Clara with a smile. “Mrs. Parsons, I’ll take off now.”
Clara nodded, watching Lenora walk away before turning to Harley. “Mr. Brandt, fancy running into you.”
Harley frowned slightly. “Mrs. Parsons, you seem to know my ex–wife quite well.“Clara understood the implication behind his words and smirked. “I have a lot of respect for Ms. Maynard. Her response confirmed Harley’s suspicions.
He narrowed his eyes slightly at her, then nodded before leaving with his secretary.
Doug, who had been observing, turned to Clara. “Mom, is that guy Lenora’s ex–husband?”
Clara glanced at her son. “Yep. See? The worst guys always look good. You better be a good man.”
Doug rolled his eyes. “Who wants to be a jerk like that?”
Clara chuckled, then suddenly remembered something. “You’re not too keen on me pulling strings for you, are you?”
Doug’s ears turned red. “Well, sometimes it’s okay.”
A mother knew her son well. Clara almost reminded him but thought better of it. “Lenora isn’t just any
Doug was taken aback, feeling a bit embarrassed. “Mom, what are you talking about?”
“Okay, I won’t say another word,” said Clara.
woman.”
Lenora, oblivious to the attention she was attracting, headed straight to the parking lot after parting ways with Clara and drove back to the villa.
As for Harley, she had already decided to treat him like a stranger, and strangers didn’t greet each other.
Later that evening, Lenora mentioned Doug to Cassidy, reminding her to send someone to draft a contract for him.
Cassidy, always dramatic, gasped. “Nora, are you a heartthrob magnet secretly? Why are all the fresh faces your company signs so impressive after your divorce?”
Lenora raised an eyebrow. “What? Should I tell Dashnell you personally signed Anthony?”
Cassidy immediately backed down. “Okay, okay, I was wrong.”
Lenora chuckled. “I’m hanging up.”
“Wait, Nora. You have to come to the awards gala in mid–month. Everyone knows you’re the big boss at Ormonde Entertainment now. If you don’t show up, I can’t hold the place together.” Cassidy had a knack for getting her way, using charm or a bit of guilt, and it usually worked.
Lenora knew if she didn’t agree, Cassidy would keep pestering her until she did.She agreed, “Just this once.”

“Love you.” After hanging up, Cassidy shot Linda a smug look. “Se, I told you Nora would agree. Quick, three dollars,
transfer it to me.”
Linda buffed. “Ms. Maynard isn’t a celebrity. If Winifred and the others want to talk, let them. Why does Ms. Maynard have to go?”
Cassidy smirked. “You wouldn’t get it. Some people don’t know they’re in the presence of a goddess until they see one.”
Linda was left speechless.
Recently, due to the mess, Carla stirred up about Lenora supposedly dating younger men, some people had been stirring the pot online, claiming Lenora was trying to launch a career in showbiz.
Of course, many netizens found this theory ridiculous and thought, ‘Why would á successful businesswoman want to dive into the chaotic showbiz?‘
But on the flip side, some skeptics suggested Lenora was trying to build a Hugh online following to cash in later. After all, ever since her divorce from Harley, the buzz around her had only intensified, far surpassing what many stars paid for publicity.
These doubts weren’t overwhelming, but they were enough for Cassidy’s rivals to take jabs at her by dragging Lenora into it. Cassidy was smart about it; she had bought trending topics to protect Lenora’s image, but after so many trends, the internet had scrubbed clean most of Lenora’s clear photos.
The gossip–hungry crowd had no idea about this, and once they caught on, only blurry images of Lenora remained.
Recently, Cassidy’s rival had joined a production team and was throwing around nasty comments since they hadn’t seen any photos.
Cassidy was furious, but no amount of sharp words would help if no one had the proof. That was why she was determined to get Lenora to attend the awards gala.
‘Just wait; Lenora will steal the show and blind them with her brilliance!‘ thought Cassidy. ‘The nerve of saying Lenora needs to get plastic surgery to even think about entering showbiz? Pfft! Who’s being foolish here?‘
Lenora knew Cassidy had her reasons for wanting her at the gala, but she didn’t bother to guess or ask. ‘Well, it’s almost ten o’clock; time to put on a face mask and get some beauty sleep, living the life of a young, beautiful, wealthy woman.’
Cassidy was chatty, but she got things done quickly. Just yesterday, Lenora had mentioned Doug, and by noon today, Cassidy had already sent someone to bring Doug to Ormonde Entertainment for training.
Lenora had signed a contract with Clara, so she didn’t need to keep tabs on Doug anymore. She really hadn’t checked in on him since.
Dashnell returned and invited Lenora to lunch.
November in Hobart City was already getting chilly. Lenora wore black boots, her fitted jeans tucked in, showcasing her long, alluring legs. A white cashmere sweater completed her soft, elegant look.
She had barely stepped out of her Ferrari when a man approached her for her contact information. She gave him a teasing smile, and he walked away awkwardly.
She rarely met Dashnell alone, and this lunch was about Future Tech’s recent success.
Last week, Future Tech successfully went public in Marizieu, becoming the top investment company in Hobart City.
In the six months leading up to the IPO, many major investors had tried to buy shares but were turned down, making them think Dashnell was too young and reckless to understand the value of money.
Chapter 36
What they didn’t know was that Future Tech had grown from a startup team eight years ago to a thriving tech company, receiving significant funding every year.
And no one knew that Lenora was the biggest investor behind Future Tech, and she certainly didn’t lack money.
