As the plane took off. Hazel thought to herself: Everything from the past is over. I’m starting my new life now, a life without Julian or Maverick.
Meanwhile, just as her plane lifted off, Julian and Maverick stood at Stanford’s entrance, each holding bouquets of flowers, their expressions growing increasingly dark.
The Montgomery family car was nowhere in sight, and their sense of foreboding grew stronger.
For some reason, they both felt a profound uneasiness. And this feeling gradually expanded into a single thought: Hazel didn’t want to accept their confessions!
Maybe she had just taken a different route to campus.
They couldn’t bear to consider the other, seemingly impossible alternative.
The elaborate display of countless flowers attracted many students‘ attention, with some even taking photos and posting them on the university forum.
“These hot freshmen are making such a grand gesture on their first day! Who are they confessing to? OMG, whoever she is, she’s so lucky!”
“I’ve got to say, they each have their own style–one cool and aloof, one passionate and wild. Don’t tell me they’re confessing to the same girl?”
“Are they still at the entrance? I want to see this in person!”
After seeing the post on the forum, countless students rushed over to watch the spectacle.
The crowd around them grew larger, with everyone whispering and speculating about who could possibly be lucky enough to receive confessions from two such perfect specimens.
Julian had called Hazel countless times, but she never answered.
Maverick’s face had darkened to the color of a cast iron pot. “She’s blocked me! I can’t reach her at all!”
He gripped his phone so tightly it nearly bent out of shape.
Julian’s cool eyes reflected the same frustration.
“Same here.”
They had never encountered anything like this before.
Hazel had never cut contact with them like this. Something must have happened to her!
They abandoned their carefully prepared flowers, rings, and other gifts right where they stood.
Julian raced home while Maverick frantically searched the campus for Hazel.

When julian arrived at the Montgomery residence, he knocked repeatedly.
After a long wait, the door finally opened—not to Hazel, but to one of the household staff.
“Mr. Blackwell, how can I help you?”
Seeing the maid. Julian’s brow furrowed, momentarily speechless.
After a brief silence, he asked: “Is Hazel still at home?”
His eyes peered past the maid, searching the interior: there was no sign of Hazel’s luggage, nor of Hazel herself.
The maid looked confused: “Mr. Blackwell, Miss Montgomery left with you this morning. Why would she still be here?”
Julian gave a soft “Mm” before asking: “Are her parents home? I’d like to speak with them.”
“Oh, after you all left this morning, Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery went on a business trip. They’re not home, but you could call them.”
The maid answered honestly before slowly closing the door.
Julian’s eyes darkened as his fingers clenched into fists.
“If I could reach them by phone, that would be great,” he muttered to himself, a sense of desolation washing over him.
Was Hazel truly trying to avoid their confessions by disappearing?
They had resolved the situation with Rose and rushed to campus to prepare their surprise. Why were they still too late?
They had been so close to explaining everything.
Julian returned to campus, feeling lost and defeated.
