Cheryl froze, the words she had prepared stuck in her throat.

After swallowing hard, she carefully chose her words. “Sweetheart, of course not; my heart will always belong to you!”
“Actually, I happened to run into that jrk today, and he told me about what happened last night. Henry still cares about you. He’s not as heartless as you think?
lena tied her hair up neatly into a ponytail with an elastic band and spoke lightly, her voice calm but firin. “Cheryl, enough. I am the one involved, and I have awakened from this dream. How come you’re still
so obsessed?”
For the past three years, Cheryl had been her closest friend, supporting her every step of the way in pursuing Henry’s love. Whenever she felt hopeless, Cheryl would discover a subtle, barely perceptible indication of Henry’s concern, igniting a fresh spark of hope within her.
Because of this, she became more and more obsessed with Henry, convinced that he liked her too–partly because of Cheryl’s influence.
If it hadn’t been for Henry trying to marry that homewrecker by pushing her into another man’s arms, maybe she’d still be trapped in that delusional fantasy, unable to break free.
Cheryl knew all about this. Apart from the time she joined Shana in cursing Henry out, Cheryl always took a ‘make peace, not war‘ stance.
Normally, even if Cheryl didn’t dare offend Henry on the surface, given his position as her ‘brother, she should have supported Shana in private.
However, the situation remained unchanged–Cheryl appeared to be apprehensive that Shana might actually end her relationship with Henry.
Cheryl was silent for a few seconds, then casually replied, “Well, I’m just a fan of you two. Of course, I’m going to support you. What do you expect? Should I just watch the homewrecker steal Henry away?”
This reasoning was typical of Cheryl. Shana had never questioned it before, but now, for some reason, a strange thought crossed her mind.
Cheryl seemed more concerned about Henry being taken by Kate than about Shana herself.
Shana knew Cheryl had always disliked Kate, but as a close friend, that kind of loyalty was normal. But now, was it really just about that?
Did Cheryl and Kate have some kind of feud that Shana wasn’t aware of?
Just as she was about to ask, Cheryl cut in first, her voice cheerful, “Shana, we’ll talk later. I have a meeting now. Love you.”
Shana had no choice but to push her questions aside for the moment, thinking she would ask later when there was time. “Alright, go ahead.”
Resentment and fury twisted Kate’s delicate face in her luxury downtown apartment.

The scene welcomed Chloe as she entered, She mentally groaned but hid it well, walking over to help Kate sit down.
“Kate, be careful you’ll hurt yourself with all this anger.”
“How can I not be angry?” Kate hissed through gritted teeth. “You know what this interview means to me. That old man is dying. If I don’t change his opinion before he passes away, how will I ever be accepted into the Floyds?”
imean’s dying? When did this happen?” Chloe asked in surprise.
“Recently, it seems likely that he only has another six months left. You wouldn’t know; the Floyds kept it all hush–hush. Only a few close people know, so of course I’m desperate!”
No wonder.
Chloe had been wondering why Kate, who had endured for three years, was suddenly so agitated, making all sorts of moves lately,
She thought for a moment, then comforted her with a smile. “Kate, I actually think Duncan’s illness is your best opportunity.”
Kate looked at her, confused. “What do you mean?”
“Duncan has always wanted a grandson, right? However, three years have passed, and Shana has been unable to conceive a child. You’re different.”
Chloe gently patted Kate’s abdomen. “If you’re pregnant, do you think that old man will refuse to accept you? After all, he can’t wait much longer.”
If Duncan lived to a ripe old age, even if Kate had a child, he might not be willing to let her in. He might even cut off the possibility of Kate bearing a child before the baby was even born.
But now, with little time left, if Shana still wasn’t pregnant before Duncan passed, Kate could reveal her pregnancy before his death. Wouldn’t he have to accept her then?
Kate slowly calmed down after hearing Chloe’s analysis.
Chloe continued, “So for now, all you need to do is take care of the baby, stay healthy, and make sure nothing goes wrong. Then, keep Mr. Floyd close; don’t give Shana a chance to get pregnant too. In the end, the winner will definitely be you.”
Kate glanced at her abdomen. A fleeting, strange emotion passed through her eyes before disappearing.
She smiled and agreed, saying, “You’re right. I don’t need to compete with that bitch Shana. After all, I have a child, and the future Mrs. Floyd will only be me!”
In a black Bentley speeding down the highway toward the airport, Henry sat in the backseat with his laptop on his lap.
He set it aside after responding to a few emails.

He rubbed his forehead and asked with a hoarse voice, “How much longer until we arrive?”

Larry looked at the GPS screen and said, “It’s been about half an hour, Mr. Floyd. You didn’t sleep much last night, so you can rest your eyes for a bit. I’ll wake you when we arrive.
Henry ignored him and asked, “How long will this trip be?”
“One week,” Larry replied.
After a brief pause, he cautiously suggested, “Shouldn’t you tell Mrs. Floyd?”
Did I need to tell her?” Henry asked instinctively.
“Of course! It’s important for all couples, not just married ones, to inform each other about their plans. Otherwise, if you disappear without a word, she’ll feel left out. Plus, knowing where you are will make her happy.”
Henry frowned. He hadn’t really thought about that.
He rarely informed Shana about his trips because, before, there was no need–she always found out on her own.
Plus, he had always thought it wasn’t necessary.
He took his phone, opened WhatsApp, and stared at the screen for a few seconds. After a moment, he finally clicked on Shana’s chat.
“I’m going on a business trip for a week. Call me if anything comes up.”
This was the first time he had informed her about a trip since they got married. It felt a bit awkward, even uncomfortable. It took him several attempts to write and edit this simple message.
After reviewing it once more, he finally pressed the send button.
Maybe this would make her happy?
Sure enough, no sooner had he sent it than his phone buzzed. Shana had replied almost immediately.
Larry smiled widely and praised, “Mr. Floyd, Mrs. Floyd finally replied almost instantly again! I knew it would work!”
Watching the back–and–forth tension between them lately, Larry had been feeling unsettled, but seeing things return to normal made him happy.
Henry gave a small, amused smile. “That’s all she got in her.”
As he opened the message, however, his face suddenly hardened, and an icy chill filled the air.
Shana replied, “Safe travels! Hope you lost your way halfway!”
