Chapter 47 Have You Really Fallen for Her?
Shana closed her eyes.

She had thought she wouldn’t be able to sleep, but in the end, she was probably just exhausted. Her mind gradually began to fade. In her half–dazed state, she thought she heard the sound of a car driving away, though it might have been nothing more than an illusion.
But who cares?
Tonight, Portchester saw another downpour. The temperature dropped sharply, and the cold mixed with the dampness, creating a sticky, uncomfortable chill.
When Damon walked into the bar’s private room, he saw Henry’s handsome face, colder than the rain outside. A shiver ran through him.
He lightly patted the rain off his leather jacket, walked over, sat down, and poured himself a drink. After taking a sip to warm his stomach, he leaned in and asked a fearless question.
“Hey, Henry, in a bad mood?”
Henry’s long fingers gripped his glass, spinning it lazily “Which eye saw that?”
He had been sitting in the corner, silently drinking, creating his own little icebox for the room. How blind would someone have to be not to notice?
Damon, always the honest one, propped his eyelids up with his fingers, exaggerating his wide eyes. “Both my eyes saw it.”
The man fell silent.
He leaned back on the sofa, lazily lifting his eyes, and gave Damon a cold glance.
Damon felt a sudden chill run up his spine, like a sharp knife pressing against his neck.
A wise person knows when to back off. Damon immediately corrected himself. “I must have seen it wrong. It’s my fault. I–I deserve to die.”
He drank three more shots as an apology.
The alcohol began to take effect, warming him up. Damon took off his leather jacket and tucked it to the side. Drinking alone in front of a guy who radiated coldness was definitely not fun.
So…
Damon propped his chin and started to extract information from him. “Henry, did you have another argument with Shana? But you rushed back to take care of her because she’s sick, right? This should be the perfect time to bond, so why the issues?”
If not for the opportunity to engage in some juicy gossip, why would he abandon his warm bed and sexy girlfriend to come here?

Of course, this was the wrong topic to bring up. Henry shot him a murderous look, slamming his glass down. “Not even this fine booze can shut you up.”
Damon hesitated for two seconds but pressed on. “Don’t act tough in front of me. Come on, tell me what’s bothering you. Your personal therapist is here to listen
Today, he wasn’t going to back down.
A flash of dark light flickered in Henry’s eyes. He slapped his hand across Damon’s face, about to push him away in disdain, but then paused, as if something crossed his mind.
“Ahem.”
He crossed his legs elegantly, took another drink, and then slowly spoke. “I have a friend…
Damon almost spit out his drink with that opening.
Oh, he actually pulled the ‘friend‘ card–better late than never.
He bit back a laugh and encouraged, “Hmm, your friend. What’s going on?”
Henry looked genuinely troubled. He rubbed his forehead and continued, “His girlfriend used to pursue him, but suddenly, she’s been cold–either passive–aggressive or downright sharp. Even when he tried to make amends, she wouldn’t accept it.”
He glanced at Damon at this point and asked, “Aren’t you the ladies‘ man? Tell me, what’s going on with … my friend’s girlfriend?”
After their marriage, Henry believed he understood Shana. For her, the most important things were money and her uncle.
As long as there was money for her to spend freely and her uncle was happy, everything else was fine. For the previous three years, their relationship had been this way. She asked for something, and he gave it to her. So he couldn’t understand why she’d been acting out recently.
It was more challenging than any large–scale project.
“Wait a minute. So, you tried to make peace with Shana, and she just ignored you?”
Damon’s eyes widened in shock. He almost jumped out of his chair. “That’s insane!”
The young, capable Mr. Floyd, the youngest person in charge of the Floyd Group, who had once dismissed his timid wife, now found himself on the receiving end of a shocking reversal.
He knew it! The chasing after his wife‘ drama was bound to happen. Just didn’t expect it to come so soon!
Henry’s face darkened, and he emphasized, “It’s a friend of mine, not me!”
Then he realized Damon knew all his friends, and it sounded unconvincing. He coldly added, “It’s Larry!”
At that moment, Larry, waiting outside, sneezed multiple times in a row.
Damon asked, “When did Larry get himself a girlfriend? How did I not know?”

Henry poured himself another drink, hiding his emotions behind the alcohol, then coldly warned, “Answer if you can, or else just shut up. I don’t want to hear any more nonsense.”
Realizing that further teasing might get him killed, Dahon adjusted his glasses, trying to stifle his laugh while analyzing.
“Though women’s hearts are mysteries, there are usually only two possibilities in a situation like this.”
He raised a finger. “One, maybe Larry’s girlfriend feels neglected and wants to throw a tantrum, hoping Larry will pamper her and pay more attention to her.”
Henry’s finger lightly tapped his glass, his eyes lowered in thought.
Then, with a vague tone, he asked, “But I’ve already done all that, and it didn’t work?”
“Then it’s the second possibility, and that’s a much bigger problem!”
Damon’s expression grew dramatic, and he said with a more serious face, “That means she’s already given up on the home–bred cat and found another cat elsewhere.”
Henry didn’t understand. “Speak plainly.”
Damon rolled his eyes. “In simple terms, she’s lost interest.”
“What on earth!”
Henry suddenly sat up straight, the veins on his forehead subtly showing.
Shana had shown him complete devotion. How could she lose interest in him? There was no other man around her.
Then he suddenly thought of something, and his expression slightly shifted. But he still said confidently, “Impossible. She wouldn’t change her mind.”
Damon couldn’t hold it in anymore. “Do you believe that? Even when you’re the one saying it?”
Henry didn’t respond. His mind replayed all the moments where Shana had insisted on a divorce recently. The more he thought about it, the darker his gaze became.
Suddenly, he pulled out a cigarette pack, took one out, and lit it.
He took a deep drag, almost as if trying to calm his growing frustration with the smoke.
Damon immediately lost his usual playful attitude upon noticing it. He became serious.
Henry, who had heart problems and usually avoided smoking unless for business, was now privately indulging in both alcohol and cigarettes. Damon had never seen Henry like this before.
Without thinking, Damon reached out and grabbed his wrist, stopping him from smoking. “Henry, have you really fallen for Shana?”
At the door, Cyrus, who had been about to enter, froze.
