Tears rolled down Kate’s cheeks. “Henry, are you implying that I fell and then blamed her?”
Henry dialed a number with one hand, instructing Larry to drive the car to the hospital.
After hanging up, he tucked his phone away and shoved his hands into his pockets. He looked down at her from above and asked, “Or do you think I should go check the surveillance footage?”
Kate bit her lip hard, not saying another word.
“Kate, I promised you I’d do what I said. The rest…”
”
Henry’s voice trails off. He stared at her with intense dark eyes for several seconds before turning on his heel and striding away.
Kate watched him go, her face pale.
He was warning her, telling her not to pull any tricks.
But how could she willingly accept that? If it weren’t for that accident, she should have been Henry’s wife.
Shana slept soundly through the night, only to wake up to find herself in an unfamiliar place.
She looked around, realizing she was in a hotel room, wearing nothing but a bathrobe.
The sound of water running came from the bathroom.
Shana was startled, sitting up quickly. Her hangover made her head spin, and her limbs felt weak. She couldn’t remember what had happened, unsure of whether she had done anything.
She tried to piece together her memories, but all she could recall were fragmented moments. The last thing she remembered was that she couldn’t walk anymore and had collapsed on a bench by the road, where someone had come to her side, and she’d started to pour her heart out at him.
How had she ended up at a hotel?
Shana’s heart sank.
The sound of water stopped, and the bathroom door creaked open, footsteps approaching.
She dared not look up, her mind racing with countless possibilities.
“Shana, you’re awake?”
A familiar voice broke through her thoughts.
She looked up in surprise, only to see Cheryl in a loose bathrobe, drying her hair with a towel.
Relief washed over her instantly. Tears welled up in Shana’s eyes. “Cheryl, what are you doing here? Last night, were you with me?”

“Who else would it be?”
Cheryl sat on the bed, punching her own lower back with a fist. “Do you know how much trouble you caused last night? I had to take care of you all night, and now my back is killing me.”
Shana was aware of her tendency to be a bit difficult after drinking.
She remembered a time when she got drunk in front of Henry and insisted on punching him, which had become one of her embarrassing moments.
So now she made sure never to get drunk–she’d always controlled herself to avoid humiliation. But yesterday, something had triggered her, and she’d let herself go.
She flatteringly massaged Cheryl on the back. “Thank goodness it was you, bestie, or if I had done something morally questionable, I’d never be able to face anyone again.”
Cheryl clicked her tongue and laughed. “You think you didn’t?”
Shana was astounded.
Cheryl tossed the towel aside. She folded her arms, looking at her with an expression that was hard to read. “It was Cyrus who found you passed out on the bench by the road. He wanted to take you home, but you went off on him, unloading all your frustrations about Henry onto him.
“You finally wore yourself out. When he was taking you home, you suddenly came back to life and started making a mess. You were yelling that Henry hadn’t come home and that you weren’t going to go home either. You said you were going to find a young man to have some fun and give him a taste of his own medicine.”
Getting drunk wasn’t scary. What was scary was having someone remind you of what you’d done.
Shana swallowed hard and tried to organize her thoughts. “So, did I drag Dr. Grant to get a hotel room?”
Cheryl shrugged and said, “I’m not sure about that part. Cyrus didn’t mention it, probably because it was too awkward. After that, he called me to come take care of you.”
Shana flopped back onto the bed. Her long black hair cascaded down. Her face looked even paler in
contrast.
“Then I must have really embarrassed myself.”
Cheryl nodded solemnly. “Yeah, probably.”
Shana groaned, “I don’t want to live anymore. Can you just find me a spot in the yard and bury me?” Seeing her friend’s distressed expression, Cheryl pulled her up from the bed and comforted, “At least it was Cyrus. He won’t gossip; I’m sure he’ll keep things private. Don’t worry, your reputation can still be saved.”
Shana forced herself to get up, freshen up, and get on with the day.
Cheryl had to go to work, so Shana didn’t ask her to drop her off and called a car to take her back to Moonville Bay.

Chapter 51 Heart Sank
On the ride, she hesitated several times, unsure whether she could face Cynas. Not only was she humiliated, but the shame was unbearable. How was she supposed to face Cyrus now?
Forget it. She needed time to calm down.
When she got back to the villa, she walked in absentmindedly. The hangover will throbbed in berbed and she was exhausted. She didn’t get enough sleep and planned to go straight to bed
But suddenly, a deep voice came from the living room Shana, you finally coming home
Shana frozen in her tracks.
Instinctively, she turned toward the voice and saw Henry standing there, his face as dark and boling wis
rage.
Shana blinked a few times, and then her mind snapped back to reality.
She couldn’t help but laugh in frustration. This was her line–this sc*mbag was trying to take the first tot
Henry stepped toward her with a few long strides, his black eyes glinting with coldness. “Where did you go?”
Shana met his gaze and retorted, “None of your business!”
“Shana!” Henry’s face darkened further. “Our contract says you can’t stay out all night. What if you got caught on camera?”
So now he was pulling out the contract?
Shana sneered in anger. “The contract also says we’re supposed to act like a happy couple. But when you humiliated me in front of the homewrecker at the wedding, didn’t you worry about the cameras?
“Mr. Floyd, your double standard will catch up to you!
Henry frowned and stressed, “I wasn’t trying to humiliate you. It was just an emergency situation” He had comforted the other woman, and now he was here trying to justify himself? How clever.
Shana didn’t want to hear any more of his excuses about the homewrecker. She didn’t want to dirty her
ears.
She cut him off. “Mr. Floyd, you’re right; I overstepped yesterday. You pay; I do the work. Whether you’re taking her to the hospital or to a hotel, you don’t need to explain anything to me.
“When I was your wife, you couldn’t control me. Now that we’re about to divorce, I don’t need to be controlled as your soon–to–be ex–wife.”
In the past, Shana had pretended to be understanding and kind, but every time she saw him with another woman, she’d secretly sulk and throw tantrums.
Back then, Henry had found her annoying, petty, and dramatic.
Now, seeing her cold and indifferent, setting clear boundaries, it bothered him. He actually preferred her earlier temper tantrums.
