Chapter 55 Was She Really That Cheap?
Shana was unprepared for the sudden flurry of questions, causing
to choke on her own saliva. She
coughed uncontrollably, her fair face turning pink with embarrassment.
“Shana, are you okay?” Cyrus asked, quickly handing her a few tissues.
Henry shot a quick glance at the calm and composed Cyrus, his dark eyes narrowing. The coldness in his gaze grew sharper, shattering the previously warm atmosphere.
The air now felt tense, as if a storm could break out at any moment.
Audrey clutched her chest, feeling too embarrassed to lift her head.
She had hoped Shana would bring her husband back, but not two husbands at the same time. How could she resolve this situation now?
Grace, too, wore a terrified expression. She quietly stepped behind Audrey, worried that things might escalate and hurt the innocent.
Shapa instinctively reached out for the tissues, but then her eyes caught the murderous look in Henry’s
gaze.
It felt like a warning–if she dared take those tissues, she was as good as dead.
Her fingers trembled slightly before freezing in place. Instead, she grabbed a few tissues herself, wiping her lips before crumpling them into a ball and tossing them in the trash.
“Grandma, let me make the introductions,” Shana said, standing up.
She moved to Henry’s side, turning toward Audrey with a calm smile. “Actually, you’ve understood. This is Henry, my husband.”
Audrey’s eyes widened in shock. “Then. Who is this?”
She looked at the gentlemanly Cyrus in confusion.
Shana smiled, explaining, “This is Dr. Grant, a good friend of mine, and also Henry’s buddy. He’s here for a charity clinic, and we just happened to cross paths, which led to this misunderstanding.”
As soon as she finished, Cyrus stood up and addressed Audrey with an apologetic smile. “Sorry about that, Audrey. I overheard your conversation with Shana and just wanted to make you happy. I didn’t mean to
trouble.”

Audrey gently placed her hand on his, not blaming him for anything. “No need to apologize; I should’ve cleared things up first. It’s just embarrassing for all of us.”
Shana couldn’t help but feel a slight sense of regret in Audrey’s tone, though she wasn’t sure if it was just her imagination.
Cyrus turned back to Henry and said, “Henry, I hope you’re not upset.”
Henry’s lips pressed into a thin line, his gaze still cold and piercing as he locked eyes with Cyrus. The look

on his face told Shana he was unhappy. She felt a chill run down her spine, nervous that he might snap.
Fearing that Audrey might be frightened by Henry’s anger, Shana quickly interjected, “Henry wouldn’t mind. It’s just a misunderstanding. He’s not the type to hold a grudge.”
She grabbed Henry’s hand, forcing a simile, her dark eyes blinking up at him in a way that hinted at flattery. “Right, hubby?”
Henry looked down at her, his expression softening slightly as he met her gaze.
Her eyes were dark and gleaming, like freshly washed black grapes, large and captivating. When she looked at him with such longing, it was as if an irresistible charm radiated from her, drawing him in completely.
Every time she had deliberately teased him, wanting to seduce him, it was always with that same magnetic allure, leaving him powerless to resist.
Her sudden change in attitude
and that sweet ‘hubby‘ seemed to ease some of his tension. With a deep breath, he reached out, pulling her toward him and wrapping an arm around her slender waist possessively.
Then, without a word, he started walking forward.
His gaze briefly swept over Cyrus before settling on Audrey. His deep voice broke the silence. He then turned his attention to Audrey, his voice low and soothing. “Audrey, I apologize for the delay. I had some matters to attend to. Sorry about that.”
Audrey couldn’t help but stare at him, taking in his striking features.
A well–fitting black suit accentuated his refined elegance, making him appear to be from a different world.
His presence, his aura–everything about him screamed success.
No wonder Shana always spoke so highly of him, praising him endlessly. It was clear she was completely smitten.
Audrey smiled and said, “It’s fine, you’re here now. Please sit down. Don’t stand here.” She turned to Grace and urged, “Pour Henry another cup of tea, would you?
“Of course, Audrey.”
Dinner would still take some time to prepare, but the atmosphere remained tense after the earlier exchange. Henry’s natural cold demeanor made it hard for Audrey to casually chat with him like she did with Cyrus.
She’d wanted to talk to Cyrus, but with Henry sitting there, she couldn’t afford to be too friendly with him, so she fell silent instead.
Henry was inherently cold; he was not one to initiate conversation. Cyrus, typically friendly and chatty, seemed unusually quiet now.
The entire room seemed to be under a spell of silence, and the atmosphere had become chilly.
Audrey, usually so cheerful, seemed defeated. Shana could no longer stand the awkwardness. She grabbed

Henry’s hand and pulled him up. “Audrey, Cyrus, you two keep talking. Henry and I are going to step outside for a bit.”
The house had a large backyard where Audrey grew vegetables and raised the live stock.
Shana led Henry that way.
As they walked, a gust of wind carried disgust, halting his progress.
Shana looked at him with a mocki,
with it the unpleasant smell of manure. Henry wrinkled his nose in
glint in her eyes. She turned around, crossed her arms, and lifted her
chin, asking bluntly, “When did you arrive?”
At the mention of it, Henry’s expression darkened. He replied with a sardonic edge to his voice, “When everyone was saying that you and some other man were a perfect match, the ideal couple!”
Shana was speechless.
So he had heard everything.
“Shana Robertson, didn’t Larry tell you I’d be coming to pick you up?” Henry asked, his tone hard.
“He did,” she replied.
“Then why didn’t you wait for me?” Henry pressed, moving closer.
Nice light. “I did wait, but when I didn’t see you, I thought you weren’t coming

anymore. I left so I wouldn’t miss my flight.”
Her nonchalant attitude only seemed to fuel Henry’s anger further.
His icy gaze intensified, and he snapped, “You waited? Judy told me you left right after eight, not willing to wait even one more second.
“Also, why didn’t you just call me and check? Was it really that hard to make a phone call?”
Shana had tried to talk nicely with him, but his words were the last straw.
Every time he stood her up, she was the one calling him, but it always ended in humiliation.
Every time he failed to show up, she was the first to call and ask why, only to be humiliated with excuses.
Was she some kind of pathetic fool? She already knew how it would turn out, but she still tried to contact him.
Seeing her silent, Henry scoffed, as if assuming he had his answer. Henry was jumping to conclusions. “Shana, you never wanted me to come, did you?”
He even glanced toward the living room, adding with a pointed look, “Now that I’m here, am I in your way? Hmm?”
Motherf*cker!
He was the one who was late, and now he was twisting it around to accuse her!

What kind of nonsense was this?
